=Introduction

In the darkness that has settled over the city, in the wake of the Sun's graceful departure, the soft amber glow of the public lamp lights unveil the path you currently tread. Tall edifices loom over you, their concrete skeletons vanishing into the sky while rows of the glass gradated into ebony upon reaching the heavens. The rubber soles of your sneakers scrape along the crack ridden sidewalk, alongside the asphalt road. The city center is eerily quiet, even though it is after dark. The odd car rumbles by, befouling the air with its dark, gaseous emissions and a slight breeze brushes your exposed skin and whistles in your ear.

You walk a block and reach an intersection. You walk a block and reach another intersection. You walk yet another block only to reach yet another intersection.

Nothing changes. Not the sights, nor the sounds, nor the smells...

Until you reach the next block.

This one is darker than the rest. You find that there are no lamps lining the left side of this stretch of road. Intrigued, you leave the sanctuary of the electrical lighting and cross into the shadows.

You approach a solid iron gate, with a calligraphic ‘A’ adorning it’s crown, the only means of breaching the concrete wall barricading the premises. You spy a plaque upon one of the cinderblocks, next to a keypad. Upon it you read “890”. Clasping the cold, gritty iron bars of the gate, you peer into the mysterious property.

The landscape is vast, yet ill kept. Craters litter the soil, pathways are overrun with weeds, scraggly trees and bushes grow wherever they please. The remains of what may have been statues are strewn all over the place. By your foot lies a rough stone with a familiar face carved into it. His name is on the tip of your tongue...

Beyond the expansive, ominous courtyard once stood a proud, red brick mansion which now lies in ruin with shattered windows, collapsed roofing, walls falling to pieces, ragged furniture strewn about...

You unconsciously finger the keypad.
