You are holding a regret in your heart while you die, and you realize, you aren't dead. But you aren't alive either. You are a Shikabane.

Your best friend/lover is believed to be dead, but appears only a few days later as a Shikabane. You are asked to be her Contracted monk, and you accept, because you believe it's the only way for her to survive.

When word got out about the Shikabane Hime, Shikabane, and Contracted monks, they started appearing everywhere. Everyone wanted to be a contracted monk. Whether it was for glory, the chance to work with pretty girls, or because they were chosen, boys and girls from all around the world became contracted monks for Shikabane Hime.
Here's some info on Shikabane and Shikabane Hime
When a human dies with regret in their heart, they come back as a Shikabane, a monster hell bent on destruction and death. However, there are good Shikabane, they're called Shikabane Hime, Shikabane that have made a contract with a monk so that they may become pure and earn their way into heaven, or so they were told. But in reality, that would not happen. Instead, they would become monsters called, "Destroyer Shikabane" and they turn on their masters, killing them and countless others.
The only way to kill a Shikabane is to shoot off it's head and blast it's body to bits.
Only girls can be Shikabane Hime. Hence the "Hime" in the name, which means Princess.
Shikabane Hime are not allowed inside temples.
Here's some info on Contracted monks
A contracted monk is usually someone very close to the Shikabane, usually a friend or lover. They are tied by their bond and the contracted monk can heal the Shikabane in battle. When they heal the Shikabane Hime, they lose some life force, ultimately weakening the contracted monk. A contracted monk can not kill Shikabane.
If a contracted monk dies, his Shikabane Hime needs to find another monk or she'll become a regular Shikabane.
That's all you need to know for now. If you have any questions, please ask me or my vices.
