A Pretty clique that is obsessed with being in flight. They can be seen ballooning over New Pretty Town. The Hot-Airs call anyone who is not a Hot-Air a "groundling".
-Swarm
A tight-knit group that uses skintenna to communicate. They go everywhere in large groups. Because of the huge lack of privacy this way, several groups have broken off the original Swarm.
-Bashers
An all male clique that enjoys camping, drumming, and doing other pre-Rusty activities
-Twisters
A group of Pretties that does outrageous things such as dress up as Uglies.
-Naturals
They enjoy gardening and being outdoors, though not as much as Rangers or Bashers

Cutters

"My Crumblies": Not to be confused with the late Pretties, a child may refer to their parents as "My Crumblies" since they are considered old to the children.
Bubblehead: Dumb, Happy Go Lucky, Unknowning, Stupid. Also used as a name of Pretties with the lesions.
Crumblies: Late Pretties who live in the Burbs.
Littlies: Children under 12 who still live with their parents.
(insert mood here)-making: Basically, any mood can go before -making, and it just means that, the event/person/thing is making that mood . So if someone says "That stunt was nervous-making", you can assume the person was nervous.
Icy: Awesome, cool, "bubbly".
Bloodies: Bloody Mary ( the drink )
Ping: A message sent by skintenna to another person, probably derived from the sound that it makes when it shows up on your network.

A Hoverboard is a hovering form of transportation that is about three times bigger than a skateboard. Most float using magnetic levitation, but the Specials use ones that float using lifting fans, though over the magnetic grid, use conventional levitation methods.
Hoverboards were popular with Uglies, but Pretties generally didn't use them due to the required balance and coordination needed to ride one.
They are quite dangerous for the untrained novice but measures like crash bracelets help keep users safe. Even so, falls from high altitudes can cause various arm and shoulder injuries.

A bungee jacket is a device intended for use to escape burning buildings. It works using magnetic levitation to counter the momentum of falling. However, new Pretties often use them for fun.
Skintennas
A Skintenna is an antenna linked to a person that allows them to connect to the city grid. It also allows you to listen to music or to ping another person.
The Skintennas were generally worn by Special Circumstances Agents that used them to communicate while working in the field.
The Skintenna is surgically placed in the spine of a human being, making it impossible for it to be removed without the death of the human wearing it. However, Skintennas can be shut down.
Shocksticks
A Shockstick is a baton like device that is capable of stunning or knocking out Specials or any normal person.
Hovertanks
A Hovertank is an armored vehicle that uses hover struts to move and destroy.
Mag-lev Trains
Mag-lev trains, or mag-levs for short, are monorail-like trains which run throughout Nanashi.
Wall-screens
A wall-screen is a cross between a TC and a PC; users can do a lot of things from watching feeds to playing thumb-twitch games.
Eye-screens
An eye-screen is a new creation that inserts monitors onto the eyes that allows the user to access data from a city interface or from a portable information storage device. It is connected to the optic nerves and coordinates with other devices. Ears to add audio data, jaw for voice and speech communication, and fingers for gestural control.
Thumb-twitch Games
A thumb-twitch game is a bit like a handheld gaming device, used on Wall-screens and with Eye-screens using the movement of the players hands and arms as a controller.
Sub-orbitals
A sub-orbital is a aircraft that goes almost into outer space to get to places faster.They are usually made of orbital alloy which is supposedly the strongest material ever.

In the city, surgeons can perform many types of surgery including:
- changing color of eyes and changing eyesight.
- changing bones and joints.
- microchips implanted into the skin.
The majority of Uglies get the 'Operation' at age sixteen. However, in some cities, Uglies get the 'Operation' at the age of eighteen. This basically edits the person completely, making them like "Barbie dolls". No food or drink is allowed 16 hours before the operation.
Nanashi's Uglies are required to be Sixteen before they can have the Operation.
