During the peak of the Great War, the Chinese opened hidden canisters strewn about cities in the United States of America, letting a disease into the air that, when ingested, caused the brain to slowly shut down. After a short time period of approximately seven hours, the body would then reanimate with only one goal; devouring human flesh. These zombified humans, also called the "Diseased", started to slowly cover the globe. Only those lucky enough to escape into fortified bunkers survived the disease.
xxA short week after the Chinese let loose their new form of biological warfare, nuclear bombs were finally released, striking cities all over the globe. Everyone was rushed into special underground bunkers that protected them from the radiation caused by the explosions. Not everyone was lucky enough to get inside, and millions perished. People in the bunkers were put in specialized cryogenic chambers that would keep them in stasis until radiation levels outside the bunkers were safe.
xxAbout 200 years later, people emerged from the bunkers to find their once beautiful world now a post apocalyptic wasteland. In areas where no zombies were found, it was basically a horrible post apocalyptic world. Where the bombs did not hit, the disease had struck and turned everyone into zombies. With important materials dwindling, such as non-irradiated food and power cells, raiders started to take over the wasteland, and merchants made travels between cities to sell their goods to the people. It became a time of extreme hardship. However, there are safe havens in the world. The most notable location is Las Vegas, Nevada, where the bombs did not strike and the disease did not reach. With near impenetrable defenses, it's one of the most fortified places in the world. But hardly anyone is allowed entry.
