That doesn't mean it cant be fantastical, you can be any race you like (within reason) to be but it would best you know some Roman history. magic is allowed as well.

This guild has just opened, and so will be accepting just about anyone. I assure you will only find friendly and respectful people at this guild.
Though this appears to be a military guild, you can live in the many great cities of the ancient world, and be no part of the wars. just witness excitement and terror, of when war happens but go on with your normal ancient domestic life ^^.
So, who will you join? Rome? Be the first ones that lead the republic to its rightful glory. Greece? will you support the unification by Philip the II, father of Alexander the great, or will you want to defend the independence of your home town.The Gauls? will you bring Rome to its Knees before its even taken its first few steps.
Carthage? Will you hold your empire firm and stay as a leading power, against the might of the Greek and Roman states. Samnites? Will you survive the Roman campaign in to your home land. Or will you sit and watch as Europe and western Asia tear themselves apart? we will see wont we wink
