If you are here, it is because you decided to participate in a serious, historical Axis Powers Hetalia roleplay on the theme of WW2.

The war officially began at dawn on September 1st, 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. However, the war's roots can be traced back to 1935 with the Italian occupation of Ethiopia, or to 1933 with the rise of fascists in Germany, to 1931 when the Imperial Japanese forces invaded Manchuria, or even as far back as the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch which planted the seeds for the fascism and violence of the next 22 years.


The war ended officially in Europe on "VE Day", the 8th of May 1945, and on the far eastern front, August 15th later that year.


The Second World War was the largest armed conflict in all of human history. De facto, over 75 countries were involved in the war (de jure, this number is around 25), which spanned from the United State to Australia, from Japan to Great Britain.


All in all, the war was responsible for over 60 million causalities-far more than any other war in global history. A frightening percent of these deaths were civilian loss. This war saw in the most massive genocide movement ever conduced by man-the Holocaust, and the most oppressive use of propaganda to date. After the war's end in 1945, such institutions such as the United Nations were formed to ensure that such a war can never happen again.
