Welcome to the Gaian Guild of Violinists!

The following is the
I.F.U.Q.

(Important yet Frequently Unasked Questions)

What is the GGV?
The Gaian Guild of Violinists (or GGV) is a guild created specifically for the violinists and violists of Gaia. It is a place to discuss technique, pieces, instruments, accessories, and anything else violin. It is also a place to just hang out and chat in the Chatterbox. Occasionally there will be contests and special events.

Who can join the GGV?
Anyone who enjoys the gift of making music with the violin may apply. Classical or fiddle, accoustic or electric; any violinist join this guild. If you just began playing two weeks ago, or if you've been playing since you were two you can apply. Any level of experience is accepted.

What do I write in my Join Request?
In your application, please state why you wish to join the guild, how long you have been playing violin(/viola), and if you play any other instruments. Tell us a little about yourself
There should be two paragraphs in your application. Don't worry, it's easy. Just give one or two sentences for each field.
In the first paragraph please state why you wish to join the guild, how long you have been playing violin(/viola), and if you play any other instruments. If you do play more than one instrument please tell us which is your dominant instrument.
Tell us a little about yourself in the second paragraph. Tell us how old you are, where you're from (if you're comfortable disclosing this information), what you like to do in your spare time, and most importantly why we should accept you into this guild.
Please use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation whenever possible. If English is your second language and you feel that it reflects in your writing style please let us know that you are not a native English speaker. Please do not use emoticons in your application.
Obviously we will not accept a request if it looks like this;

Quote:
hihihihihh!!!!!1!11 lol blaugh blaugh heart heart heart acept me to ur guidl puh-leez i m a age 13 violin playah and i loooooooove da violin!!!!11!

It would be greatly appreciated if you were to read through your request and look for spelling and grammar errors before submitting it. That would make our job easier and prevent any of us from getting in a foul mood.

Can violists join the guild, too?
I am allowing violists to join the guild. Do not be fooled by the title. If there is any arguments about violins or violas being better, or anything like that (chances are you know exactly what I'm talking about...) there will be little (if any) warning before you suffer the consequences. This applies to both violinists and violists.

Do you have to be a violinist or violist to join the guild?
We are aware that there are at least a few members of Gaia who have an interest in the violin but for one reason or another have not been able to actually start. While browsing Gaia we have come upon several people who, while they are not violinists or violists, they show a strong understanding and vast interest. Some of these people may be eligible to become "honorary members." If you know someone like we have described please direct them to this page.
If you feel that you may be one of those few special people and we just don't know it yet, please fill in a Join Request and have in the first sentence, "I am not a violinist or violist, but..." You will need to write an extensive reasoning on why we should let you join this guild. This does not mean a few sentences and lots of emoticons. Rather, this means several paragraphs and no emoticons. You will have to convince us that you are worthy of becomming an "honorary member" of the GGV.

I didn't get accepted! Why didn't you accept me?!?! crying
Whenever we deny a request we will be sending a PM to accompany the initial system message alerting you that you have not been accepted. In this PM we will explain our reasoning for denying your request.
We will also be sending out a PM whenever we have to ban a member (should this ever occur). Please do not make us have to ban you! It is very distressing and further strips us of our trust in human beings, assuming we have any shred of trust left.
