Hell’s Cradle
At the dawn of the century, a rising threat was global warming. Many were alarmed of this phenomenon, but few could offer explanations. The idea of global warning was soon pushed aside and forgotten. In actuality, the cause of the earth’s atmospheric change was the influx of miasma; a gas borne from Hell. Tiny rifts between the two dimensions began to form all across the planet, allowing the noxious gas to seep virtually unnoticed. After sixty years of miasma infesting the air, a catastrophic event would go down to change the course of history. The gaseous poison had created a change in the world’s atmosphere. It allowed for monsters and demons to inhabit the mortal plane. Because of this, an invasion was launched, and the tiny rifts that plagued the earth began to expand. Entire cities were swallowed by some; London, Rome, New York, Shanghai, while many others were partially consumed. Others became portals for soldiers to move between worlds. It caused panic and destruction to riddle the land. The event was later named Hell’s Cradle.
Forty years after the tragedy, humanity had drastically changed. Some learned to cope with the now frequent occurrences of unholy attacks. Most tried to ignore the happening of Hell’s Cradle, while others lived in fear. More than ever, the social and economic classes of society were split, with the rich getting richer, and the poor dying off. Those who could afford to live in the areas protected by the elite counter forces lived relatively peacefully, while most struggled to survive in the real world. An agency was created to handle the outbreak of supernatural happenings for those who could not protect themselves; a joint effort by all the nations. This organization came to be known as Requiem. With the rise of this spiritual combat squad returned the balance of power. Now humans and creatures of the night band together to fight the forces of Hell, trying to close all of Hell’s Cradle once and for all.
Requiem
An organization created for the sole purpose of maintaining the balance and protecting humanity. It is a facility managed and made up of psychics and supernatural beings alike, working in unison to keep the peace. The agency is divided into two main divisions. Division Dirge, which is the bigger division of the two, that is in charge of protecting the middle and lower class, in which they take the bulk of the protection and retrieval missions when it comes to civilian affairs. They are also the main offensive force when it comes to handling large military operations against large amounts of demonic forces. Division Cadenza is the special ops forces, comprised of a smaller militia that handles the protection of the high class and all covert operations. They handle the research and intelligence operations and also act as the cavalry for Division Dirge whenever agents of that division are engaged in top tier missions that require assistance. Division Cadenza’s operatives and missions are kept on a need-to-know basis from the general public and the other half of Requiem. In Requiem, agents and mission levels are all divided by different tiers.
Agents ranked from G, E, F, and D are placed in Division Dirge and are able to take on a certain missions based on their own ranks and the ranks of the missions. Pianissimo ranked missions are basic patrol missions, Mezzo Piano ranked missions are delivery missions, whether it is the delivery of an artifact or a person to a designated area; Mezzo Forte missions are search and retrieve missions which can be the retrieval of a fellow agent or wanted criminal.
From there, the tier list of agent and mission rankings are increased based on difficulty and importance. Agents ranked from C, B, and the highest ranking, A, are placed in Division Cadenza and based on their rank they can participate in the following missions: Forte ranked missions which are search and destroy missions which may or may not be carried out in secret, Fortissimo ranked missions which are covert/stealth operations mainly carried out for intelligence gathering and spying, and Fortzando ranked missions which are god busting missions where operatives are required to search out and eliminate spiritual entities with power levels near god-like levels.
