Attention, all prospective members! Please note that we are not a pirate roleplaying guild! We are Pirates Against Flaming, and therefore if you do not make any mention of flaming and the being against it thereof in your join request you will not be accepted! Also, please try to type your request carefully enough that we can actually read it. Thank you, and we hope you join our ranks soon. On with the intro!

Arrrrâ„¢... Shiver me timbers, and all that.

That be right, matey. We are Pirates Against Flaming, or PAF. It is our belief that flaming has no place on this internet contraption, and should be better put to use on villages, estates, and other such treasure-yielding enterprises... Though with discretion, of course. We here at PAF help our fellow pirates (or non-pirately citizens of Gaia) get over their compulsion to habitually flame everyone through therapy sessions, reverse psychology, and the occasional whip (don't worry, it's not very sharp).

We do encourage general discussion, but we ask that you leave all cutlasses, pistols, and cannons at the coat-check. We would prefer it if you would refrain from engaging in duels while here, and if you could also please not set fire to anything, we'd appreciate that as well. We've got a no-insult policy, unless engaging in a rousing game of Insult Poker, which we feel is an exercise in creativity. But remember, flaming is off-limits. We're here to help, mates.

Remember: our motto is "Arrrrâ„¢!"

*Please note:

We have, by and large, been a rule free guild. The body politic (your average PAFer) is a responsible and respectful pirate, indeed.

However, we are now requiring that you post if you join the guild. We have many talented members who offer their wares to guild members and ask nothing in return. It is unfair to appear out of nowhere and expect such treatment. So if you do not post for an extended period, be it just after joining or if you simply disappear after months of activity, you will be banned from the guild without warning.

We have two new threads: The Boneyard and The Gallery. All art threads are ultimately moved to the gallery to make room for new ones. And all memorable threads are ultimately moved to the Boneyard. Make sure to check them out.
