Don't sell powerups on the MP (make people buy them mwuahaha)

Is this from a dev, or is it a user idea? Because I believe this idea is counter-productive, as it will not increase revenue for zOMG.

If you limit zOMG players and supporters to only buying zOMG revenue raising items for 'personal use' then you are immediately limiting sales. However if a zOMG player/supporter buys multiple zOMG items and then sells them on the marketplace to other gaians, they are not limited to only buying what they themselves can use, but can support zOMG to a greater extent by buying extras to sell for gold.

There are and will always be zOMG players (and gaians in general) who do not have access to cash, but are willing and able to support zOMG indirectly by buying cash shop items with gold from other users. If you deny them the opportunity of purchasing items from other players for gold you are effectively denying them any way of supporting zOMG and helping to keep zOMG alive.

Soulbinding of items (like pets, for example) would also result in the above, limiting sales to personal use and preventing cash-poor but gold-rich players from supporting zOMG indirectly. (And we really should have all learned the lesson from null fragments. If it can't be sold for gold in the marketplace, 90% of Gaia is not interested.)

Think about it...if player A buys 1 and player B buys 1, it's the same as player A buys 2 and sells one to player B for gold. For Gaia there is exactly the same amount gained. But if the item is soulbound (or they follow your suggestion) player A can only use 1 item, so they will only buy 1, player B will buy 0 because they have no cash (only gold) so Gaia will earn 50% less revenue towards zOMG.

It's a good idea not to underestimate the power of Gaia's marketplace when coming up with a strategy to raise revenue for zOMG. One of the reasons that cash shop items are so supported is because they are sellable for gold in the marketplace, and often appreciate in value. Bringing out 'limited edition' pets is a great idea, because as soon as supply is limited the gold price will increase. This will make further releases of new pets an attractive investment, not just for zOMG players but for other Gaians as well.

I don't think you understand the concept here. If you buy zomg items from the Mp this is doing absolutly NOTHING to help zOMG in any way shape or form. The point of this whole thing is the buy items with REAL money because gaia needs the REAL money to pay the developer team. Also when you buy powerups from the CS you do not have to use them, you could give them away, also who said you are limited to just 1 item per user. Answer me this, if you saw a revive on the Mp for 30k and then a revive in the CS for 99Gc (which is equal to 99 cents usd) which one are you going to buy? I for one would rather buy the one in the Mp... js. All gaia users are entitled to GC so don't even try to pull that with me. You can watch videos and complete free offers for GC. Soulbound items really do NOT effect the limit of sales either. Let's say that rings were unsoulbound, How many users play zOMG in 1 day? now, out of those users how many rings per day do they acquire? If rings were unsoulbound they would be worth 0gg in the Mp. Same will happen with the new items. btw CS Items, I hope, will never be soulbound, for instance take a look at the Sweetheart Ring.

I don't think you understand the concept here. If someone buys a zomg item from the MP from someone, who bought that item for cash, in order to sell it to someone else for gold, that absolutely does do something to help zOMG. Whether the person who bought it originally keeps it or sells it, Gaia got their REAL money.

If someone with cash buys enough of an item for one person (themselves) Gaia gets revenue from that. But if someone with cash buys zOMG items to get profit in Gaia gold, they might buy ten times as many as they can personally use. If they sell them to 10 other Gaians for gold, then Gaia would get ten times as much REAL money.

I fail to see any sense in limiting the amount of support for zOMG to only those people with GC, when buying multiple zOMG items and selling them to other players on Gaia for gold can raise more money and improve zOMG's chances of survival.

I don't know why you want to bring zOMG rings into discussion, but since you have I'll point out that zOMG rings are not purchased with cash, they are dropped in the game for free. So any discussion about the soulbinding of rings is completely inconsequential to this discussion. (Null Fragments are a better example. An item that was only given away in limited quantites and then had to be purchased for cash, but was soulbound. Null fragments failed. Dismally.)

The only ring that was a 'Cash Shop' only purchase is *not* soulbound, and you can see how successful that was. Originally costing around 400k in the marketplace it has increased in value to 2.5 million in less than a year. If the devs want to make money, they could release another CS ring for a limited time. Even Gaians who don't play zOMG would buy it as an investment, based on the success of Sweetheart in the marketplace.

It's probably too far in the future for the current crisis, but rereleasing Sweetheart for a limited time in February next year would also raise funds for zOMG. Afaik there was no promise made not to rerelease so that would be reasonable. It would require zero investment from the devs/artists as it already exists, they just need to put it in the shop.

Cunning Lunatic

I wouldn't be inclined to buy a Headstart tickets for BB if it's simply a hang-out place.
With so many badge collectors, there could be badges only accessable with cash.
I also saw someone suggest rings available with cash only, like the sweetheart ring. Even that could be resellable - but only at a low level (reguardless of what a user put into it, call it referbished)
I also think redoing Christmas Event would be fine for those who got into zOMG during Halloween.
I would think that making the werewolf and vampire lairs could be a pay for play areas. (but I noticed the background for those were Under the Mountain)

Edit: As for the "discussion" above- Someone is spending real money to buy the powerups (or other things like the fish in aquariums) REAL MONEY is spent. People sell these items in the MP to make gold. Gaia IS still getting the REAL MONEY reguardless. Why do you think so many people buy aquarium stuff. They just need to make the zOMG items as desirable. (I am one of the people who buys with gold more often than cash, but someone spent cash for the item I bought with gold. zOMG stuff, I do buy with cash.)

Erynnis is entirely 100% correct.

All that matters is that the zOMG CS items were purchased for cash by someone.

One of the biggest activities on Gaia is Vending. There are Gaians who do little else besides buying and selling items. Their entire Gaia strategy is to "Buy Low - Sell High" and if there is a profit to be made by selling zOMG Powerups, they will do so.

As others have pointed out, not every Gaian has the option of spending rl dollars to by Powerups.
Soulbinding them would ensure that those individuals would be locked out of purchasing them and the only people buying Powerups would be those who play in zOMG and can afford to pay rl cash for them.
Buy keeping them sellable, you open up the purchasing market to those who may have no interest in ever playing zOMG, but see the buying and selling of zOMG Powerups as a profitable endeavour.

Every zOMG specific CS item should be made sellable so the Venders can buy them for rl cash and make them available to those who would not be able to buy them for cash themselves.

The best possible scenario would be to see an influx of people to zOMG, all wanting to buy Powerups and zOMG specific CS items on the MP.
The greater demand for those items on the MP, the greater the likelihood that others will purchase them and put them there for sale.

alright... explain to me how making a pet an ULTRA fast availability will generate revenue better than a longer run with slightly more expensive price? that would be better!

Hi.
This is my first year on gaia...
I want to now what kind of xmas event there will be here (INTERPRETATION)
And if it starts on december 1st or in the same week as xmas, and if it will be like Halloween's event where you have to go trick or treating for candy and every 15 candies you get something, was it that way, right?
Can anybody explain me how does that work, please?

Hi,

Sadly, because of the current situation happening on zOMG! proyect, We are not planning to do a xmas event this year. We are really sorry.

You can connect/play zomg on facebook, but as far as I can tell you don't get prompted to post achievements etc on your walls as zomg isn't set up that way, and they'd have to add in the code and I'm not sure what achievements you'd post on your wall.. o.o;; I guess the badges..? Or when you level up a ring? But yeah.. zomg pof (playable on facebook)
