NOTE2: if you can't get these to work please don't PM me, post in the thread and someone may help you hopefully.
NOTE3: this is pretty obvious with the latest update to adblock but i'll still mention it. to deactivate any of the filters you've added just go to your adblock preferences and uncheck "enabled". that's it.
NOTE4: i've slightly modified the urls but the old ones should still work. also the screenshots i've used don't look like the latest adblock anymore and i'm too lazy to change them
UPDATE5: this guide hasn't been in focus for about a year now lol but luckily enough the filters still work, at least i'm assuming so because the only one i read mention of was the gold which i just corrected.

you enter the filters by clicking the drop-down next to the icon on your firefox browser as shown and click preferences: http://i36.tinypic.com/k12eko.jpg
This screen should come out http://i38.tinypic.com/mbhgfd.jpg and then copy and paste the filter. Don't forget to hit Okay or Apply! (Pay no attention to my other filters since they are for towns and for general gaia browsing whee )

The Filters:
animations (which gives me the biggest lag) *note: your avatar will turn invisible after zoning sometimes making it difficult to find yourself unless you target yourself by pressing spacebar* If you'd rather block specific animations see Mindset's quote further down.

certain monster loot this one can be tricky if you aren't computer savvy but I will try to explain the best as I can.
so you farm a lot and don't want to bother seeing loot drops? or if you're like me and when the loot drops it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R for your avatar to actually collect them you might find this useful.
lets say you want to block lobster claws. you go into your zomg inventory located here and then click on the lobster claw (or the loot drop you want to block) you right click the image of the lobster claw as shown here and then it should turn to a similar screen shown here. you copy the url and paste it into your adblock which should've been

wala! you've just blocked that pesky icon from sight in-game. you might want to disable adblock or delete the filter entirely when you grow tired of it or because it might make things annoying for you when you want to trade/sell them. i used these filters when i was farming buzz saws in mills, you might choose to block some other loot from somewhere else.

gold & orbs you will still hear the noise they make when they drop *note: orbs will have a empty image in your loot screen and gaia inventory but it should still display the correct amount according to your progress bar.

map detail (null's sparkilyness, zen garden's falling leaves, animals/graphics in the background of certain maps, etc)

curious if anyone else has any other filters ;3

alternative ways to improve performance
zOMG at its best! (Optimization & performance enhancment) deals with "hacking" your firefox using about:config 3nodding

i want my avi back but i don't understand how to do it. where do i need to right click to find properties.

lets say you want to block lobster claws. you go into your zomg inventory located here and then click on the lobster claw (or the loot drop you want to block) you right click the image of the lobster claw as shown here and then it should turn to a similar screen shown here. you copy the url and paste it into your adblock which should've been

wala! you've just blocked that pesky icon from sight in-game. you might want to disable adblock or delete the filter entirely when you grow tired of it or because it might make things annoying for you when you want to trade/sell them. i used these filters when i was farming buzz saws in mills, you might choose to block some other loot from somewhere else.

gold & orbs you will still hear the noise they make when they drop *note: orbs will have a empty image in your loot screen and gaia inventory but it should still display the correct amount according to your progress bar.

damage/health delivered/received (the red/orange/green numbers)
monster attack animations
monster death animations
black ingame error messages
the exhausted/pulse noise that comes out when you have low/no stamina or health
map detail (null's sparkilyness, zen garden's falling leaves, animals/graphics in the background of certain maps, etc)
