Time is my Acid
I am paper-weight, fragile as brim stone
found in the quarry, where remnants of my limbs
escape as quickly as time dissolves traces
of my past - sands devour my flesh.
It breathes its own air as my lungs
parch at the absence of liquid that remains
vivid for my quenching in the back of my mind's desires.
Insanity painfully surpresses all logic:
my thoughts clashing against an ebb and flow of chaos,
each process - insubstantial.
As I discover longevity, my papyrus
breaks down at each nightly disposition
after the pharoh's halo collapses at dawn.
My existence is as lost as the gospels
the bible never held. They are buried in sand,
like ancient monuments that crumble
with transgressions of time. I am lying beneath
the ground, eaten by a curse - deflowering my skin,
exposing my flesh to the sun
who learns my secrets of ancient scripture.
"Many false spirits are abroad in the earth.
Hearken, o ye faithful servants of my Church,
and give ear to the voice of the living God.
Christ is the Good sheperd and the stone of Israel..."
The carvings fading on my flesh run as fluently on my skin
as the light shimmering strongly against valleys
of stone, becoming irritated with solar shades of red.
This light opens my psyche to world's of confusion--
my body to years of wisdom. It dissloves in a timely manner
each time it swallows humidity: corrosive acids.
Beneath the valley that stands tall over me, the sheets
at my whim rot like snake-skin, succumbing to the will of time.
I pray my letter is discovered by faithful servants one day
as I lie buried in the pit of an hourglass, inhaling my final breaths.
