I have to finish an entry for your contest and write one or two more chapters for another contest entry. Then I have to judge this. Then about half-way through August, my other contest ends and I have to judge that. Then the 28th is the first day of tenth grade. gonk

Just think, had your contest's word count been limitless, you would have received a 19k word story from me. rofl It fits the theme better than the story I'm currently writing for it. And it's much more interesting and amusing. But oh well.

...you sound more busy than I am. xD Have a small question if you don't mind? Do you ever have trouble with entering contests while holding your own? Like if someone doesn't win in yours, do you find yourself losing in theirs? A friend of mine was worried about that and I told her I'd never heard of that happening, but am curious anyway. rofl

XDD If it had been limitless and I got 62 19k+ entries It would take me a month to judge one round, let alone 8.

I don't judge based on whether or not I've been beaten by the same story that's entered my contest. I don't judge by friends. I judge by the quality of the story. I'm always worried that other contest holders will be biased, but if they are, I know I can reem them out. A good contest holder isn't biased. I could always just withdraw myself if they are.

Is your friend entered in this contest? Or is this one of those things where you say, "My friend has this major crush on you and would like to know blah blah blah" and mean yourself? Only with a different question, of course. sweatdrop

"Iris" isn't even the best song. My contest mule is named after one of the best GGD songs, "A Thousand Words," which I'm hoping they'll play at the concert I'm going to (it's only played live in the middle of another song). Try Bullet Proof (the sound is sort of bad quality) and Black Balloon. They're from the same album as "Iris," and they come pretty close to topping "Iris" in my opinion.

And then there's Johnny Rzeznik, the lead singer. heart So hot.

I wasn't talking about me. XD One of the things I absolutely hate is people judging based on friends or b/c the story has something they really like (dragons for example). But I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday about the contests I planned to enter and she asked if that was wise, b/c what if one of the contest holders lost in my contest and then made me lose in theirs? Hence the question. xD

How can you judge if they're good or bad though? They could say "well I thought this story was better than yours".

Yes. The keyword. Polish for "butcher". ^_^ *obsessed*

As for judging, it's a matter of the grammar and such. The interest factor: whether or not it's boring. The cliche factor. I mean, if someone entered in my contest with a story that lacked grammar and spelling and punctuation and the like, but they had a great and interesting plot that kept me on the edge of my seat, they wouldn't win. Even if it was the best plot in the contest, they wouldn't win, because it can't be a story if it lacks the essentials of speech.

I'm always so afraid the judges are going to choose their friends to win just because they're friends. I saw one contest where the contest runner made a mule with pretty much the exact same name and entered a poem on it that she had posted on her main account before. Then she claimed herself the winner of the 5k she had accumulated. She almost did it again, too.

Speaking of, I need to go delete my screenshots of proof. sweatdrop My folder is too full, between me being an icon whore, art whore, Johnny Rzeznik whore, and Jesse Spencer whore. Plus I have banners for two contests and a quest thread in there. *sigh* [/ramble]

Yeah, that's it exactly. If only more people judged like that. ^^;

I think I'mm too dense to pick up on those things really. xD I do a background check sometimes but more often than not I just enter. Not very smart of me altogether. XD
