There is only one way to spend New Years Eve, and that's at a bitchin' New Years Eve party! Any other way of celebration is lame, and doesn't exist.

Only forever-alone types spend New Years Eve at home alone, and you can only have your main character be one of these people if you want some angst about how unpopular and lonely they are.

No one ever sleeps through New Years.

Also, every country hits New Years at the exact same time. Time zones? What are they? ((Happy 2012 from Australia, btw.))

There are no cultures or religions that put the New Year at any other time either. Jewish calendars, Taiwanese, Chinese, and Buddhist New Years celebrations don't exist.

This is always destined. It's never a surprise that they win or that the Big Bad shows up. Also, no one tries to stop the destined Big Bad.

No one takes money, environment, lifestyle, or other goals into consideration when they think about kids. Just whether or not they're a jackass or not (and they always know).

Your fanfic character must know all the canon characters well. This makes total sense, by the way.

Because they're totally a part of their back story.

If they don't, then the OC must meet the canon characters immediately within the first chapter. And then become best buds, hitting it off instantly.

No proper OC would be at odds with the main characters, after all. If that happened, they'd surely be villians--and making your perfect beautiful amazing OC turn out to be evil... that just isn't done!

And they must also fall in love with your favourite canon character - bonus points if you include a hot sex scene featuring the two characters. And don't worry if the canon character is already paired with another canon character. Just have them split up because the OC is so awesome that no mere canon character could possibly compete.
