And if you must, do it in a way that is obviously just personal ranting about things that have bothered you about society. You MUST make your characters tortured, angsty, and eternally tortured by society even though they're perfectly good people who just happen to be involved with whatever taboo it is that you identify with. In that way, not only will the readers feel very, very sorry for your characters, they will also feel very, very sorry for you because they can see all the pain you poured into your writing.

And then, once the readers are all good and angsty, they'll take to the streets and try to change things. Even people who thought poorly of that taboo will understand that their moral stance is wrong because they've been so drastically affected by your bland MC's angstfest. It doesn't matter that you never bothered to offer any deep insight to problems that we already knew existed. People will be changed just because they never realized how many feelings they had hurt with their thoughts.

Also, the character you use for the angstfest must always be perfect in any other manner besides the issue you're writing about. They aren't allowed to be flawed in any other way or it would distract from your beautifully inspiring plot point.

((Agreed. This is the sort of stuff I write))

Never surprise a reader, that's not why people read new things.

The best title for your fic is "untitled", "no title yet", or "i'm really bad at thinking of titles so help me please!" The uncertainty will give your fic an air of mystery and make people even more eager to read it.

Always stick with these and never use them as working titles until you're finished and actually get to the part where you should be thinking of a name.

Likewise, the best summary for your fic is, "I really suck at summaries so just read it okay?" It arouses people's sympathy.

That or a long list of things that happen in your story. Readers want to know exactly what they're going to read before actually reading it.

Stories require romance. Always. Especially if it's a series. If you don't see a romance in the fic, it is either because you didn't look hard enough or the author made a mistake.

There are three types of interpersonal relationships. They are (1) Not acknowledging a person exists, (2) Loving a person madly, or (3) Hating a person furiously. Nobody is ever just friends with anyone else.

2 and 3 are the same thing.

For that matter, characters do not need to get to know each other. Even if they have never met before now, the moment they see each other, everything they need to know about each other will be psychically transmitted to their brains. Then they are free to skip all the tedious "getting to know each other" business and get down to falling in love.

Being in love doesn't feel uncomfortable, save for wondering if the other person loves you. No one ever feels threatened or frightened or confused.

Any and all mistakes in spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, characterization, chronology, the laws of nature, common sense, or the value of pi can be chalked up to chocolate, caffiene, sugar, or monosodium glutamate. As long as you lay the blame for your troubles on a chemical substance or lack of sleep, everyone will understand and forgive you of all wrongs.

And if you're still pressed on for those mistakes for Gods-know-why, lay the blame on the amputated limb of yours, even though your hands are fine. This way, you'll not only get pardoned for each and every single mistakes you've ever made in that vote and that you'll gain popularity for being so brave to write that story in that state you're 'in'. More examples include having a broken bone in a car accident, your cat dying when he's supposed to serve you your afternoon tea and, the ace in the hole, being raped while writing out that particular chapter of your story.
