The older brother has to be the one who ends up evil in the story. The younger brother is always good.

This is especially exaggerated if the characters are twins.

Sisters are always friends, BFFs if they're twins.

And in certain all stories, twins are always game for the whole twincest gig. Not like there's anything wrong with it! Love is where you find it, after all!

Fix'd.
And on a more sci-fi note, if you're having an EPIC BATLET IN SPACE!!!111!1, you have to make sure there are lots of loud, epic explosions and 'pewpewpew's from laser beams, despite the fact that there's absolutely no sound in space.

(In space, no one can hear you scream ;D)

Mob violence solves nothing. Revolutions are solved with one-on-one combat, followed by no negotiations whatsoever. Whoever was forced to change their was by the mob is never angry about such things, because such things are ALWAYS for the benefit of the people.

Mobs only whip out the pitchforks when they want to run someone out of town. They think that character C is a monster (He's really just misunderstood!) and are ready to kill him if he doesn't leave.

Riots are never started because of corrupt government (everyone except the hero is too scared to try anything), ineffectual or unfair laws, droughts, famines or plagues.

Mobs don't break things or steal stuff.

And when there's a war, your MC must be the one who ends it. The military are just there for marching up and down the streets afterward.

Bonus points if your MC knew how to end the war, but his superior officers just didn't listen to him, so he had to gather a rag-tag group of quirky friends and rivals to accomplish his suicide mission.

the enemy's hundreds and thousands of loyal troops will of course surrender once their leader is assassinated.

Once the heroes kill the Big Bad, they're done. They don't need to deal with hordes of minions, put the country back together, find a different leader, or even clean up the bodies.
The bad guy always has millions of troops at his disposal. Even if the Big Bad came from a small kingdom or barren land, he has the manpower to swarm other lands.

No one ever wonders who feeds or clothes soldiers when the entire kingdom is made up of them.
Whilst in the middle of a battle with a large group of enemies, your hero must always be in the center. That's obviously the most strategic of placements.

Furthermore, the enemies must attack your hero one by one, so that he or she can show off his or her epic skills. This works really well if the foes are well trained fighters. Obviously, even if they're well trained warriors, they won't use their numbers to their advantage. That's just illogical.
People will wait to kill a rebel ALWAYS. It's never too risky to hold a poorly guarded public execution right next to the king.
If the main character isn't the one to kill the Big Bad, and he's far away from him, he will get a sudden feeling when his enemy dies.

When the leader is killed, the enemy army will immediately scatter, nevermind that they still outnumber the good guys. Soldiers on the good guys' side aren't cowardly.
