Prompt: 043. Vain
---
She thought she was the center of the universe.
Life to her was made of colorful ribbons, shimmering eyeshadow, glittering lipgloss, sparkling jewelry with diamonds and charms aplenty. The world couldn't exist without beauty and the thrill that came with each step in her new Prada shoes and American Eagle shirt and Abercrombie jeans. And of course, nothing could exist without her. After all, with beautiful, luxurious chestnut hair and bright emerald eyes, who wouldn't love the young beauty?
But soon, she discovered, the universe was not alone. When a strange brown-eyed boy bumped into her, he took one look and spat out disgustedly, "Vain."
In outrage, she fluffed up her long curls and pouted childlishly at him. "I am NOT vain." The boy simply snorted and crossed his arms. "Prove it," he said as he walked away.
Now she stared at herself in the mirror, scrutinizing herself head to toe in her silky PJ's that she had newly purchased from that hot new store. "I am NOT vain," she stated resoloutely.
But somehow, she didn't feel like the center of the universe anymore.
