A teenage Hotaru ran a hand down her long hair and smirked.

"Who's everyone?" she asked, "The orphanage is as boring as ever. Amelia's gone, and that's good. I've had continual contact with Katana"

She indicated the dress she was wearing. It was long and grey with a low waistline covered in yellow stars. There were yellow stars on the straps where they connected to the dress. The straps themselves were bunched into the stars and became wider as they got up to the shoulder like an accordion. It was the obvious handiwork of Katana.

"She's great at this," said Hotaru, "but she never sends a note along with it. I'd say she's doing pretty good. She wouldn't let life screw with her."

Hotaru sighed and stared at the perfectly aligned yellow stars. The truth was, this was quite plain for Katana, and she wasn't sure how Katana was doing. She had hoped for a picture or something, but it was always just a dress. She looked over at Hotaru and smirked again, lowering her head so her hair fell into her face.

"Do you like the dress?" she asked.

"Miss Julie, I haven't seen you in so long," said Hotaru in a calm tone, putting on a slight, yet cheerful smile. "How are you and everybody else?"

Julie rubbed her forehead, frowning at the floor.

"Oh, look, she's sobering up," Dallas drawled, his hands behind his head.

"Uh... I'm okay," Julie muttered, blinking a bit rapidly. "Dallas is fine too. How have you been?"
"I've been okay," said Hotaru with smile, "No one's hurt and even Mizuki's legs aren't broken anymore. I was a bit sad when Ayane told me Mr. Magnus wouldn't be showing up here ever again, though."

Hotaru looked down to Mizuki, now in an alcohol coma, making sure to comfort her as best she could.

"But other than that, I'd say things have been going a lot better than usual!" continued Hotaru, smiling even more cheerful this time. "Oh, and guess what, Miss Julie! We found out that Tomosuke's parents... they're actually alive! Isn't that great?!"

"Do you like the dress?" she asked.

Hotaru's eyes lit up as she saw the extravagant dress belonging to the other Hotaru in the room. "Wow, I think it's really pretty!" she said, "Who is it who made it?"

"Yeah," Julie said, a bit distracted. Dallas swore.

"Sorry kid, I forgot to tell ya about that," he said, running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, that would have been nice," Julie muttered.

"Er... so when did you find out Tomo...whoever's parents were still around?" Dallas asked.

"Oh, them? We found them living alone the mountains at an abandoned village on purified land," said Hotaru, resting one hand over Mizuki's head as she spoke. "It was pretty much their only way to survive after they've been cursed; they had to do that so the curse wouldn't spread to anybody. It's also why everyone thought they were dead in the first place; not a single person lives in that village but just the two of them."

Hotaru took a second as she remembered the moments of several days ago. Just the thought of the moments she witnessed made her feel good inside, even if the feelings weren't truly her own.

"It was really nice to see them back together again," Hotaru continued, staring of as she talked while she thought of each moment, "For all of his life, Tomosuke always wondered who is real parents were and where they were, or if they were even alive. He always thought his parents were the protectors of the village that gave their life for everyone to survive, and it was true, everything but the fact they passed away. Isn't that wonderful?!"

Mizuki moaned and moved as she lay in Hotaru's lap. The sound and movement got Hotaru's attention as she looked down at Mizuki to check how she was. She was alright for the most part, as Hotaru sighed calmly.

"I've never seen Tomosuke so happy in his life, and he really should be. I'm really glad for him," said Hotaru, smiling gently as she thought of Tomosuke. "Do you remember your parents?"

"Do you remember your parents?"

Both teens tensed with that question. Dallas scowled, his mouth set in a grim line.

"Yeah, we do. Still alive too..." Julie said, playing with a piece of her hair. She sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "Well, once again I have failed to come up with a question."
"Are you feeling okay, Miss Julie?" asked Hotaru, her head tilted to the side slightly. "You look a little pale just like Mizuki."

"I'll be fine," Julie said absently.

"I wouldn't too much about her, kid," Dallas said, looking at Hotaru. "She's dead, there's not much more that can happen to her at this point.... how old are you anyway?" he asked suddenly.

Quynh looked at Dallas with a raised eyebrow, just about seen under her silver hair "My age is but a number" She spoke softly, her blue eyes dropping from his "But if you must no, i am 128, 18 in Human years". Resting her elbows on the table infront of them, she sighed softly "What brings you here then?"

If Dallas was surprised by her age, he didn't show it. "She does," he said, nodding to Julie, who didn't seem to be in a mood for talking. "So you don't count only in human years? What do you count in then?"

"I'm 16, sir," said Hotaru, smiling as always, "And in a few months I'll be a year older, too! "

She began to rock herself happily in her seat by the thought alone.

"I remember having those birthday parties when I was little back at home." Hotaru continued, "You know? One of those big ones with all the decerations? It was really pretty since we had a really pretty house even on days it wasn't my birthday. No one ever came to my birthdays though; not Tomosuke or anybody. It was always just me and mom and dad. I always had fun on my birthday, but I just wondered why no one ever came."

Still resting on Hotaru's lap, Mizuki moaned tiredly once more and turned to her side. By her looks alone, it didn't seem like Mizuki would be waking up until an hour or so.

"Even though I won't be home for my birthday, it'll still be really nice because Tomosuke and Ayane and everyone else is finally here now!" said Hotaru, her voice speaking much more softly, but still keeping an assertive tone. "What is it that you ever did for your birthday?"

Hotaru tugged on her long hair. She shifted her legs uncomfortably.

"I never do much for my birthday. I'm just not a birthday person"

Birthdays didn't mean much back at the orphanage. A monitor would tell you when it was your birthday so that you know how close you are to getting out. Hotaru was almost 18, so she would be out soon. That's why she was able to go out like she did.

"When is your birthday?"
Liang gave a haughty huff. "And what might someone like you need my birthday for? I barely even know you!" He sighed and brushed off his white fur.

"Sorry. The weather's getting to me." he began, "It's the first day of Shunbun. That's the vernal equinox and the fourth month of the Japanese lunar calendar, mind you. It's March 21st on the Gregorian calendar, for those of you who don't use the lunar calendar."

He sighed and looked out the window that he was leaning against. It was unusually hot out for winter, and it was ticking him off. He had left his home up in northern Hokkaido during the winter to do some sightseeing down in the usually warmer areas of the world to do some sightseeing, but the unusually hot weather had kept him from doing all that much. It was difficult enough to get a cheap airplane ticket and hotel room from where he lived, much less get through airport security as a six-foot-tall anthropomorphic arctic fox. He sighed. If things didn't get colder, this would have been a vacation wasted. He thought about his small home tucked away in Japan. He had missed it dearly, almost as much as he missed his parents that he didn't know of. He knew that he and his parents had once lived there, before they suddenly disappeared that one wintry day. Being an orphan sucked.

"Hey," he finally said after a moment of silence, "...do you have a place that is precious to you?"
"Well, I used to think that place was my home," answered Hotaru, her head slightly tilted to the side as she was seated. "But now, the only place special to me is being where my friends are. Do you think that's strange at all?"
