Managed to get back after being hacked.... Am so lost lmao

Oh, dear. Gaia Online used to be my entiiiiiiire teen and young adult years. I used to hang out around here all the time!
And then, I think, around 2009, 2010... I kind of just... stopped using the site? I don't even remember why, but I guess my interest went somewhere else. I was so surprised when I randomly found out through a post on Tumblr that GO was still alive and kicking!

..... only to then discover that my account was hacked... crying I probably had like a super easy password and someone took advantage of that, I guess. BIG shout-out to the customer service team, which helped me fix the issue super quickly and easily.
I did loose a lot of items but... That's life. sweatdrop

Gosh, there's SOO MUCH GOING ON! I'm frankly overwhelmed with the amount of items and new things. Does anyone have tips about what's nice to know nowadays?

Welcome to Gaia! So the two stickies at the top of this forum, one for returnees, and the other for newbies are pretty thorough, the only things I would add or emphasize is:

Go to Chatterbox, and find a thread with the word 'dailies' or 'daily' or similar in the title. In those threads you'll find all your links for daily wealth gathered together.

After that, I'd explore the games, especially Lake Kindred, for further wealth building, theres a whole subsection in the forums that can introduce and explain it in the threads

I'd probably go to
Avatar chat
for real time chatting with other Gaians.

And I'd explore the forums and guilds for topics of interest to you. Paying attention to people's signatures will result in finding links to guilds that are most likely active.

The "dailies" threads are such a lifesaver. I've already found one that I liked and saved it on my browser. biggrin Very useful and I don't think they existed back then when I played! (Then again GO was waaaaaaaay smaller... LOL)

And yeah, it sucks. I'm still kind of bitter because they took a lot of items I really loved, and since the hacking happened so long ago, staff don't really have the ability to return my stuff. But.. there's just so much new stuff and apparently reprints of items all the time, I bet it's going to be okay!

You're welcome! I'd add that you can subscribe to any thread through a button at the top of each thread, to be able to find it easily again. I'm sure it'll be ok smile You may still be able to replace some of the lost things from marketplace smile

Oh dear FDHSDKFSD I kind of only use the journal to say whatever is going through my mind at the time, really! Since I go through my dailies following a thread, I always get remembered that I should journal at least once a day. I just write whatever is going through my mind at the moment (which is, admittedly, not a lot most of the time lmao)

So idk if you used towns but those are dead now, ppl now hang out on discords but in Gaia there is something called Avi chat and Rally3D.

Also if u loved to create avis, there's amazing new features and some item recolors that could help you create your dream avi, for e.g. the amazing offer system and the ghosting features (where you can see inventories of other fashionable users)

Being hacked sucks tho I hope you didn't had emo bags or angelic halos there. I created a platinum guide and some guides for the games that give u the most money.

Dw we are all old here now blaugh And yea It can be overwhelming but the good thing is that once you learn all the new stuff Gaia doesn't change much. Forgot to mention the avi builder.... besides ghosting, the avi builder allows you to test all available items on your avi (you can't keep them sadly) 4laugh

But well explore at your own pace! And in the case of games/alchemy (or even avi creation) if in doubt there are some guides out there to help you out!
