The Vorekei are a peculiar race, following customs and traditions that none really know the purpose for beyond "that's just the way it's always been." It used to be there was a reason for it all, but that reason has, for the most part, been lost to time. So imagine the suprise when they came in to contact with humans, resulting in interactions with creatures for which they had no predetermined ritual.
Imagine.
They are hardy mountain and plains warriors, these graceful creatures, an amalgalam of species that nature did so have fun with. Their full armor is not something they are born with, but rather must be given when they are still young - think of a Christian baptism. Once they have their armor, it's there forever, never to be remouved.
Never.
They were cautions at first; aloof even. Who could blame them? But a select few overcame their inital distrust and made friends with us humans. And from them we learned of the species' decline over the past few years, and we begged them to let us help somehow, to allow us to become knowing of their ways.
Knowing.
So slowly we humans have learned, and in learning, have also taught. Most of them are in tune with nature in a way we cannot be, can never hope to be - they seem to gain power over most of nature's apsects, and it is this magic that makes them who they are. As much as we've observed, we still cannot figure out the how and why of this magic. It seems that the Magic choses them, they do not chose their magic. Love even has no effect on it, as a fire Vorekei and a Water Vorekei have the same chance of having Ice babiehs as cosmic babiehs. Magic is the way it is.

Type: This is your Vorekei's basic... Alignment. Like Earth types are related more to the earth and feel a greater call towards earth magics. For some reason though, Vorekei offspring don't show a predisposition towards their parent's magics. (Two Fire Vorekei could have a water, an ice, and a cosmic offspring.) Sometimes though, their type is a bit broader (elemental vorekei) and their abilities are usually the fusion of two elemental magics (like Lorian's snow fire ability).
Abilities: So far, all Vorekei have shown an ability to do magic of some sort, always related to their type. As they grow older and play around with it, their abilities become stronger and more accurate. A vorekei with the Spot ability will at first only be able to create little spots of colour. As they get older, the ability will strengthen and with enough practice it will evolve into being able to create an object out of 3D spots that can actually be used (like an umbrella made of spots that are close enough together to actually keep rain off of them.) And just because two vorekei have the same ability doesn't mean it won't be learned to be used in different ways, become more specific.
