Welcome to Brainpowerd's Wishlist Charity! What I do here is help Gaia users in their quests by designing custom wishlists for them. While I understand that there are lots of truly amazing and talented graphic designers out there (see the links below), some Gaians are not in a position to purchase a wishlist immediately. That's where I come in, designing wishlists for those who are kind-hearted, patient, polite, and also display a genuine need for such things. As with all charity work, I will be taking wishlist requests on a case-based-on-need basis as I have the free time to do them.

3 simple rules

1. Be polite. Think of this thread as if it were my home (in many cases, it may actually turn out to become that way based on how much free time I have). Undue cursing or poor behavior will not be tolerated in any form nor under any circumstance. Any offense in this manner will cause me to disqualify you from receiving anything from this charity.

2. Be patient. While the turnaround time on most requests will be pretty fast, please keep in mind that I am still only one person trying to help several people in need. I will announce on this thread when a wishlist is granted and will also PM the recipients with a special certificate. Ordinarily, only two or three individuals will be selected at one time maximum.

3. Do not SPAM or ADVERTISE. Friendly conversations and bumping this thread are one thing -- in fact, they are highly encouraged -- however, any advertising and / or spamming of this thread will result in this charity going away, or at the very least, to the Chatterbox. I don't like the idea of discontinuing but if this rule is broken, I will not hesitate to shut it down.

Things you should know about this charity

Why did you start this charity?

This started out simply as something I could do to help out other new members. One person I helped out suggested that I start a charity and since I like working on them (even though I'm not the greatest graphic artist out there), helping people, and have some free time to actually work on them.

What's the catch?

There is no catch. I will make custom wishlists for free. The only catch is that I will include a "This wishlist was designed and donated by Brainpowerd" tag somewhere in the design. The only thing I expect is for those who receive this charity to say "thanks". Any other compensation such as donated goods or gold, while appreciated, are not expected or necessary.

Would you be willing to sell me a wishlist?

This is not completely out of the question but the primary reason why I'm doing this as a charity is because I don't think my graphic design skills are all that great and my free time to work on them fluctuates. If this is something you truly want to do however, please PM me with an offer but don't be upset if I either say "no thanks" or refer you to another artist.

Do you accept donations?

Yes, and it can be anything people care to give (gold, items, or art). Seeing how I am still questing for items myself, anything that will get me closer towards my questing goals, is a win! Plus, any sort of surplus that I get can also be given charitably to someone else who needs it either through this charity or one of the ones listed below.

Sample wishlist designs

While this is not everything I can do, these samples should give you a good indicator as to the types and quality of wishlists I can produce. I am always willing to experiment for different looks and styles. I can also customize these existing styles with different backgrounds, colors, and fonts. Lastly, I can manipulate size and scale based on the need of the user.

How to qualify for this charity

Any Gaia member can qualify for this charity. The more clearly defined your quest, the greater chance you have of being selected if you're an established Gaia member (been a member for a while, are fairly well progressed towards your goal, etc). For newer members, it becomes a matter of asking nicely, knowing what you want, and posting regularly, both here and in other places. The more active you are in a constructive way, the better your chances of being selected. In the case of both types of users, activity on this thread and creatively bumping it along will improve your selection chances.

When making a request for charity, make a post with the following:

Quote:

1. What item(s) are you wishing for?
2. How long have you been questing for this item(s)?
3. Why are you deserving of this wishlist charity? (This can be either a funny story, detail on what you've gone through in your quest, or whatever you feel like writing. Flat out begging, while it won't completely disqualify you, won't win you any points and may even hurt your chances. Well thought, clearly written posts, however, will be considered a lot faster than others so be sure to put your best effort into posting -- this includes using a spell checker)
4. Include a link to your quest page (if you have one)

Lastly, whatever you do, please do not stretch the pages with graphics.

07-14-2005 - Wishlist charity officially opens
07-17-2005 - First wishlist contest. Everyone who posts on Page 10 gets a unique bump graphic designed by me!
07-22-2005 - Contest Winners! Page 10 was achieved at 2:20PM by Crepuscule, followed by Alice_Bunny, ToRmEnTeD_Kyle, and siaki_yumi. All four of these posters will recieve a specially designed *BUMP* button! Congratulations!
07-24-2005 - The July items are released. Brainpowerd is now the proud owner of a nifty Lunar Cowl!
07-25-2005 - Congratulations to siaki_yumi for fulfilling all the items on her wishlist!!!
