Yep yep... you heard us. CONTEST. There will be two eggs up for grabs in this contest - two seperate contests to enter. Where did these eggs come from? The wonderful pairing of Moriphae and Sora - my and Perri's dreams.

These are from the second clutch of Moriphae and Sora. Perri and I have both kept one egg each, but had these two left... so we decided to concoct a contest of sorts... and decided on two.

One Writing contest, for the Dream egg.

And one Art contest for the Nightmare egg.

Yes, you can enter both. Perri and I will be judging for both, despite the fact each of us is running half. It's more fair and fun to judge the other side too. Please note that although you can enter both, the odds of you winning both eggs is highly unlikely. And no, we can't be bribed.

Standard Rules

01. No plagarizing, copying, stealing other's stuff, etc. You'll be disqualified, nd likely get into further trouble aside that. I [Mintaka] will personally ban you form every shop I run, too. I cannot STAND art thieves, nor can I stand ripping off other people's work by plagarizing. Use your own brain!
02. PG-13!! I cannot stress that enough. Art, writing, I don't care. Keep it clean, and follow the Gaia rules.
03. No whining, belittling of others, discouraging others, etc. Be nice, play fair. Moriphae hates meanies, and so does Mintaka. This is a Happy Zone and not meant for fighting or harshly downtalking other's work. For that matter, don't put down anything anyone does. And don't whine about how crappy yours is - no self-putdowns! Again, happy~
04. Perri and Mintaka decisions are final, and griping or otherwise complaining won't change anything. Excessive whining will not end in any good way, and whiners are definitely not good picks for eggs of two very silly dreams.

05. POST ALL QUESTIONS/ENTRIES IN THE THREAD. Please. For the love fo my inbox? That and liekly, SOMEONE will get to it. Perri's across the Atlantic, I'm on the pacific. I'm on almost every day/night/something at some point. Please, our PM boxes have enough abuse. Especially between US right now and my other stuff I do [I color for a shop and run several]. DON'T PM me unless you ABSOLUTELY MUST. Or are asked. Please. PMs make Mintaka cry. xd

06. All entries need to be new and specific to the contest, so no entering older pieces done for either of us, and no vague general pieces done before now which could fit.
07. Have fun! That's the point of this!
08. Yes, if you enter and DO win, you may give your egg to a friend. You MAY NOT have them do somethign FOR YOU and enter it though; they must enter themselves. Anyone entering someone else's work, permisison or no, will be disqualified.
09. Rules are subject to changes/additions as needed.

These eggs have 2 siblings form this clutch: Equinox and Brishen. So the whole of their eggs was 4. They had an initial clutch of four as well last fall. whee

Gorgeous, no? And most likely very silly. Speaking of...

"What writtens?"
"Writing, Sora. It's when people put what they say on paper."

You heard the Dream! This will not be any usual writing contest. No prompts, no paragraphs, just three lines of text for each entry. Five syllables, seven, and then five again. Yup, that's right. This is a HAIKU writing contest. What can I say, we're on the silly side.

..Rules..

1. We're going with the standard form of haiku, the first line 5 syllables, the second 7 syllables, and the last also 5. If you fudge it a little, that's okay, but make it a GOOD fudge.

Example Haiku:

If you take up this
Challenge of word arranging,
A Dream can be won.

2. Each haiku must clearly have Sora, Mori, Mintaka, Perri, or a mix of the above as the subject. No dreams and nightmares in general. This doesn't mean their names have to be in there, but the characters do.

3. The funnier, the better. These are actually being judged on how much they make us laugh!

4. Please, for the love of grammar, check your spelling! If I don't know what you're trying to say I can't judge your entry properly. I understand if you accidently miss-type something, just PLEASE call my attention to the need to edit it. My Nightmare Ivrit feeds on syntax, kids. I like good spelling, grammar, and use of punctuation.

..Judging..

Again, Mintaka and I are mainly looking for laugh factor on these, although if you'd prefer to work with a different emotion go ahead and note that with your entry. Other things I'd really like to see:

-Imagery. I have a very visual mind, and I love it when something someone says makes me think of a funny picture!
-Quirkiness. Hmm, this is hard to explain. Basically, I'm the sort of person who often phrasing things in an odd way, and I love it when other people do it too. The more interesting your phrasing and word choice, the more you'll stand out.
-Layout. You don't have to just type out the three lines one on top of each other, but can present them in different ways as long as the eye finds it easy to follow the line order. You don't have to do this, but since I'm training to be a teacher, I am a fan of creative presentation.

Welcome to my half of the insanity - the contest for the Nightmare Egg.

Isn't it cute? Isn't it?!

"Moriphae thinks that anyone worthy of accepting his other nghtmare child should perhaps be artistically inclined, and should draw something in order to have a chance at winning."

Well... I'm not gonna argue with ya, Mori, so art we go! There will be a few ideas for you to try, of course, and mind that I will be judging not simply on ability. wink I'll go into that later. First off, rules:

RULES

01. Gaia rules apply.
02. Dream Realm Rules apply.
03. Do not go over PG-13 in your entries.
04. Have fun.
05. DO NOT steal other's work. End of subject. If you are caught, you will not like the end results.
06. Entries must be new work specific to the contest, and specifically contain the subjects requested. No older arts done for us, and no posting arts which vaguely resemble us.
07. All forms of artwork, 2D AND 3D are allowed. So if you want to enter somethign that's 3D you made [sculpture, etc.] take a good picture and enter it! Just make sure it fits a category. mrgreen
08. I reserve the right to add/modify the contest rules as needed.

01 :: Lovebirds
Moriphae and Sora are an absolutely adorable couple, and love each other absolutely. They get into all kinds of thigns on their own, but adore one another above all else. Draw pics of these two either in soem romantic nuzzling, or perhaps some wacky hijinx. [After all, they did end up under a bowl of pudding...]

02 :: Dreamers and Dreams
Sora and Moriphae aren't the only people however, as they are bonded to Dreamers! Feel free to draw Sora and Perri, Moriphae and Mintaka, or all four! Just rermember if you enter this to include a Dreamer and Dream both. These can be serious, silly, or otherwise.

03 :: Nighttime and Nightmare
This is a section for those more landscape inclined, however you're still expected to include something. I'd like to see a twilight/post-sunset or nighttime scene, and include what you think the adult Nightmare will look like in it. I adore twilight/night scenes anyway. Indoor is acceptable as well, as long as it's clear what time it is [windows anyone?].

Judging

Perri and I will pick our favorites and come up with a winner. I personally will be looking for some fo the following:

* Mood :: Does it evoke something, wether it be laughs, warm fuzzies, or some dark serious somberness? Emotion and mood are important points for Min, from silly to serious.
* Creativity :: A little hard to explain how I view this, but I like seeing new and interesting things. Thining outside the box, different mediums/styles then expected, or doing, say, a short comic or something for one! Express yourself!
* Prettiness/Effort :: While I will not judge based solely on your artistic ability [come on, I am NOT perfect, and am far from it so I have little room to be a judge of other's ability] I will judge based on what effort I think you put into the piece, and also if it catches my attention by looking at it. This is actually not highly important, but seriously - try your best. If the best you can do is black and white lineart/b&w shading, go ahead! If you can only Oekaki, then do it! But please, do your best if you can! Show me you want that egg!

Really, it's not about talent, but show us you want that egg!

Mintaka
Mintaka is a shapeshifter by nature, able to look however she likes. However, she has a few consistant appearances, and a must is that her eyes are gray. Her hair is either blue, green, or black as well, and either short or longer [like my Avatar is now]. A good number of my arts are short however, in green or black. She's prone to fits of other animal traits then the ones she has [wolf hands, hooved feet, fox ears] as you'll sometimes see on my avatar, and yes - she CAN go full human [but almost always has the fox ears]. She does sometimes have normal hands and feet, so that's acceptable on her as well.

Moriphae
Moriphae is a Dream in his elder stage, and somewhat silly. He adores parties and is actually quite hyper and bouncy, although he can be very serious when called for. He's a candy fiend as well, often raiding the candy bowl Mintaka tries to keep stocked at the main shop, and also is a notorious cook [with Mintaka's assistance of course]. He loves Sora, cooking, his children, his Dreamer, life...

Perri Indiya
Perri is probably human, although her ears seem a bit on the pointed side, her eyes are a redish purple color, and there are wings and horns growing out of her head. A poorly sighted, very very small person, she is almost always in a good or at least sarcastic mood. Currently aspiring to be a low-grade super hero, she often tries to fly and doesn't really succeed. When in doubt, Perri will be the one trying to cheer someone up or heal them from illness or injury. She always manages to produce bandages and treats for the Dreams on demand, even though she doesn't have pockets. She has also been known to use her penguin slippers for fetch and/or hide and seek games.

Sora
Sora is an adult Dream who continues to act like a juvinile. She is bouncy, excitiable, energetic, and very accident prone. Her two favorite activities are perching on Perri's head and being snuggled up with her mate Moriphae. She has finally learned to glide, although she seems to think it's flying, and speaks in bubbly, broken English. She share's Mori's sweet tooth, although hers isn't nearly as strong. Her one great skill is the ability to create flowers at will, although when she's very excited or very upset she has a tendency to create small showers of petals. She thinks Mori is the smartest Dream ever created, and is always happy to follow on his adventures. Sora adores her babies, even though she doesn't really understand how Dreams and Nightmares are gotten from the eggs she lays.

Currently I am a fool and have deleted all my pictures of Sora's other stages. I will post more pics should I manage to beg them off others.

Here are some hints for the new contestants.

The wild , sparkling zany personality of it's parents will really shine through when the dream egg hatches.

The nightmare on the other hand as adopted their parent's more serious aspects and most resembles them.

They are both really pretty! I'd enter but...I think I'll just wait until Ephemere becomes an elder or something. whee
