12.02.2007 Rev we are assuming is on Hiatus as we haven't heard from her in a while. We are trying to think of ways to bring the shop back so that it is at least active.
09.12.2006 We are redoing the front page and adding things in the guild to make everything easier to see. There is a possibility that a banner contest may happen some point soon. Flatsale winners will be announced either today or tomorrow!
19.11.2006 We are looking to hire some artists Here and a flatsale with two Avatars will be happening shortly
18.09.2006 Plots are underway, possible RP contest soon for an abandoned Avatar!
26.07.2006 Just so you guys all know, Remove is on hiatus from 29th July to the 28th August, she will be in Kenya so wont have any internet access whats so ever. As far as I know, Ithi is still on hiatus to but we will get the shop up and running properly come autumn.
06.07.2006 A new guild has been set up for the avatars with journals and a place to rp other then the main thread - http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?gmode=index&guild_id=16671
01.07.2006 Remove and Ithiltari are the new shop managers, congratulations to them both!
24.06.2006 I know I neglected the shop for too long, I do not have time to run it but I still want to draw Avatars so I am looking for a shop manager. You will get a free Avatar Forge character, any one you want (except Sjestaia/Lemas), and some other bonuses.
11.07.2005 There have been some major changes. First, the Descended stage has been nixed. For the first two avatars, they will still have images for this stage, but the players may decide at their discretion what to do with these images when the time comes. Second, Divine Powers are now in the hands of the players. Submit your power when you submit your request for growth. If there are any problems with the power you will be asked to come up with another, but hopefully that won't happen! Third, Stage Halting has been changed to make it simpler and easier on the player. Finally, there are new previews in the sales post and more banners have been changed over to reflect shop art!
06.07.2005 Some of our news updates were eaten by the forum migration. To sum it up, there are previews for Yae in the available section and Sjestaia has Manifested! You can view her new form at her journal or in the gallery. I am currently hard at work re-formatting everything on the main shop page with the new forum code and creating new avatars. Watch the thread for more stuff coming soon!
14.05.2005 Added shop info! Almost done with the last Lemas image, then two more Sjestaia images and I think we'll open next weekend.
12.05.2005 Only three images left before we're ready to open. The cert is done, link banners have been added, and the first two Avatars will be given away with a combo contest and auction.
05.05.2005 60-65% done! Added more images and information. Reorganized thread.
04.05.2005 45% done with the first two avatars! Once they are done, the shop will open.
25.04.2005 Three preview images have been posted now. Is anyone out there interested? Please tell me! If there is good interest there might be a sale or a contest or an auction soon.
24.04.2005 First teaser image added! See the information post.
22.04.2005 Began building the shop today! Info added, but a lot is still incomplete.
User Image[backstory]

A long time ago in a universe far removed from our own there lived many gods who walked among the people. They were beings of a great and terrible power, capable of striking down their subjects at whim, or rewarding them richly with a mere thought. The gods were cruel and petty, but also enlightened and benevolent.

The relationship between the gods and the people was a chaotic one, for the good done by one god was soon undone by another. Many followed the gods in hopes of a chance at salvation and benediction, paying their respects and offering sacrifices.

Then a whisper began, small at first, but then louder and louder until it was like the deafening roar of the ocean.

"We do not need to follow the gods," the whisper said. "We men may rule ourselves."

The gods who heard of it laughed and struck down all they could find who believed in such thoughts. But despite many deaths and wars, they could not quell this tide, and something very peculiar began to happen.

As the people strayed away from the gods, the gods began to lose their powers. One by one the followers left, and one by one the gods diminished until none were left who remembered they ever existed.

For many eons the gods slept, trapped in the veil between the worlds, lost and forgotten and powerless. Then, inexplicably, there came a new whisper.

"There are gods," the whisper said, "if only we believe in them."

Just as a whisper had once destroyed the gods, a whisper now began to save them...

. introduction .

Avatars are a mythical/fantasy roleplay pet based on a lost gods concept. All avatars are 100% unique and have six stages to unlock.

Unlike many god-based "pets" on Gaia, Avatars are not based on any existing pantheons. The gods used are completely fictional. There will be no Zeus or Poseidon or Metatron.

Every Avatar comes with all six stages already drawn so you can be assured that your pet will grow in a timely fashion and when you want it to. This mean there is no physical customization offered, but most of the non-physical details are up to you, the player.

The Avatar Forge welcomes guest artists. If you are interested in drawing an avatar from the listed pantheon, PM this account with your design proposal and a link to your gallery or art samples. Please do not draw the actual avatar until you have been given approval to proceed.

Despite the use of the word avatar, this is not a pregnancy service! We do not forge children for Gaian avatars! sweatdrop Go to the GMFC for that.
User Image. shop rules .

i. The word of the shop is final in all matters.
ii. You may own more than one Avatar, but you may not purchase more than one avatar in a six-month period.
iii. No co-owning.
iv. Avatars may not be traded for other pets or re-sold. You may only give your avatar to someone else for free.
v. If you wish to display your avatar in your sig, please upload to your own webspace! Sorry, but as we use Photobucket, bandwidth is limited. Photobucket increased the bandwidth, please feel free to direct-link your avatar for now.
vi. "Purchase" of an avatar entails agreeing to several terms and conditions listed at the very bottom of this page. Please review them before you decide to buy an avatar.
vii. There are terms and conditions governing the creation of fanart based on Avatar Forge characters at the bottom of this page. Creation of any fanart constitutes agreeing to these terms, so please be sure you or any artist you commission has read them!

. roleplay .

i. Roleplay is not optional, but our requirements are ridiculously low! You must post in your diary once every six months (seven months for avatars bought through auction). After six/seven months, it will be assumed that you have left Gaia and your avatar will be resold. Certain free avatars may have additional roleplay requirements.
ii. Every stage has roleplay requirements which must be met in order to unlock the next stage. See General Information for what these requirements are.
iii. No godmoding! Your avatar has certain set powers. Please do not step outside of them. Also, you cannot run around killing other people's characters and things of that nature.
iv. Please be nice!
v. We do not allow any hiatuses. If you cannot get on once every six/seven months to make a post in your diary, you should not own an avatar.
vi. If you really, really want to call your avatar by some name besides the one given, you can, just be sure to explain it through roleplay. This name can be added to your cert if you ask.

. purchasing .

i. Prices/sales of all avatars are decided by the artist. As such, they vary greatly. An artist may opt to sell an avatar at a flat price using any sort of sale procedure (time based, prompt-based, random), in a raffle, in an auction, or through a writing contest.
ii. No matter what the method of sale, the following information will be available at the time of the sale: name, gender, alignment, and power domain of the avatar, small previews of all stages, and apparent age. Information on special attributes may be provided is necessary. Since avatars are -not- customizeable pets, it is our goal to inform you as to the nature of what you are buying with the hopes that you will be pleased with what you get. At the same time, we want you to be surprised. (It's a tough balance.)
iii. We will currently consider trades for Eden Project, Elemental Fa'e, GMFC, Fa'e, Aduthule, Forgotten Document, Tall Tales, Anima, Moments. If you are interested, please PM this account. Please note, however, that in some cases we might not accept a 1:1 trade and may ask for more than one of your pet or some other arrangement. If you think you have a pet to offer for trade that would interest us, please PM this account. Guaranteed 1:1 trade: Fa'e, custom Elemental Fa'e, Forgotten Document.
iv. There is no such thing as a custom avatar and absolutely no way to get one short of a halo. If you offer a halo I will draw you an avatar to your specifications. The shop may be "persuaded" to allow you to pick the god or goddess of your choice from the pantheon if you have a particularly generous offer. PM your offer to the shop and we'll tell you if we like it.
v. If, despite the previews and everything, you still end up with an avatar you do not like, you have the option of trading said avatar back to the shop and getting a new one. Details are in the trading information.
vi. If you draw a guest avatar, it must be sold at an open sale/auction/contest for which everyone on Gaia is eligible. You cannot draw one and give it for free to a friend. This is to try and avoid people drawing other people customs.
vii. You may not buy an avatar which you drew yourself. This is to avoid people trying to draw themselves a custom.
viii. Please do not PM guest artists about avatars. If you want to bribe a guest artist or ask a question, PM the shop, and we'll contact the artist. PMing guest artists may be grounds for grey or even blacklisting!

User Image[general information]

Avatars are the mortal incarnations of lost gods. They emerge from artifacts containing the essence of the lost god when they find a Believer, someone who is capable of giving the avatar enough power to manifest on the physical plane. This person is then responsible for caring for the avatar and nurturing it to its full potential.

Growth: Avatars have a total of six stages, or power levels, each stage having a totally unique image and somehow greater than the last. As avatars reach new power levels, they obtain new clothes, skills, and sometimes weapons or armor. In addition to power growth, avatars also have physical growth, called "apparent age."

Apparent Age: Some gods were known to appear eternally as young women, or old men, or children. While all avatars have six unique images, some avatars stop growing physically at a certain point. They still grow mentally and acquire new powers and appearance upgrades, but do not seem to age in years. Apparent age varies from one avatar to the next. The variables for apparent age are infantile, childlike, adolescent, young adult, mature adult, and wizened. Infantile avatars look like babies or very small children their entire lives; childlike avatars resembles children; adolescents resemble teenagers; young adults look to be in the prime of life, mature adults look wise and experienced; wizened avatars look old. Most avatars stop their physical growth anywhere between adolescence and mature adulthood. Avatars who stop aging as infants or children or age into a wizened state are the exception. If you don't want your avatar to grow into a mature adult or wizened individual, please see the section titled "Stage Halting".

. Power Levels .
n. Artifact
[image]
An avatar artifact contains within it the essence of the god and all of the god's powers. In artifact form, everything about the god is sealed. The avatar remains sealed in the artifact until found by someone who believes in the spirit of the god. At that point the avatar will Manifest.
Stage Requirements: none

User Image
i. Manifest

The first physical form of the avatar, the Manifest, is small and defenseless. A Manifest requires the aid of its Believer to grow and learn. A manifest physically resembles an infant or toddler and needs to learn things like walking and language and numbers. The Believer must care for its every need.
Stage Requirements: 2 Solo RPs, 1 RPs of any type

User Image
ii. Neophyte

Thanks to good care and nurturing, the Manifest has grown into a Neophyte, a larger, older form which allows the avatar to do and learn more. At this point, the first of the avatar's powers appears.
Stage Requirements: 1 Compiled Shop RP, 3 Solo RPs, 1 Private RP, 2 RPs of any type, Neophyte Quest

User ImageUser Image
iii. Ascendant

Older, wiser, and stronger, an Ascendant has more experience and ability now. An Ascendant may aid in the Forging of a new avatar, and has unlocked a second power.
Stage Requirements: 3 Compiled Shop RPs, 10 Solo RPs, 3 Private RPs, 5 RPs of any type, Ascendant Quest

User Image User Image
iv. Transcend

With three divine powers unlocked, a Transcend is a formidable foe, experienced and skilled.
Stage Requirements: 6 Compiled Shop RPs, 20 Solo RPs, 8 Private RPs, 10 RPs of any type, Transcend Quest

User Image User Image
v. Deus

At this point, the avatar now commands five divine powers, the maximum they are capable of using.
Stage Requirements: 10 Compiled Shop RPs, 30 Solo RPs, 10 Private RPs, 15 RPs of any type, Deus Quest

Artifacts: All avatars possess an artifact which grows and changes with the avatar. This artifact is a worn item which cannot be removed from the avatar. If an avatar even tries, it will cause immense pain. If an avatar's artifact ever were removed, the avatar would separate from the physical plane and need to be re-manifested.

Divine Powers: All avatars have divine powers, but as they will never again have the followers they once had, an avatar cannot control more than five divine powers in their mortal guise. An avatar gains one power per stage starting at the Neophyte level and two powers at Deus. Every avatar's powers are different, unique to that particular god or goddess. Powers are up to the Believer to determine. When you submit your growth request for Neophyte, Ascendant, Transcend, or Deus, include one or two powers that you think your avatar should have which are i) relevent to your deity and ii) fit the stage you are requesting. This means that you should not request a giant huge power at Neophyte stage, wait until Transcend or Deus. All powers should be described so other roleplayers know what they are. Include the following: area of effect, duration, limitations, effects, appearance. You may also increase the limits on existing powers with each stage. If you cannot come up with a power, PM and ask for suggestions.

Sample Power Request
Stage: Ascendant
Power: Telekinesis
(Avatar) can lift objects up to twice her own weight for up to ten minutes. She can lift up more than one object at a time so long as the total weight does not exceed twice her own weight. To use this power, (Avatar) just waves her hand in the air and the object she is pointing at moves. She can do this to any object that is not bolted to the ground. She can throw the objects around but not hard enough or fast enough to break bones. Her range for her telekinesis is forty feet.

Also, I would like her Light technique to be increased so that she can summon up to five orbs of light, make them up to five feet in diameter, and change their colors and shapes.

Remember that you want your powers to be described so that other players will know what they are! Also remember that you can increase powers with each stage, so start your powers off weak and upgrade them at each level instead of giving your avatar full power at Neophyte stage. Also try not to make your powers too powerful or you will be asked to change them.

Attributes: In addition to divine powers, all avatars have at least one attribute. This can be a mental or physical quirk, an additional small power, or an ailment. Examples include blindness, immunity to burns, the ability to breathe underwater, allergies, or even colorblindness.

Strong/Weak Points: Every avatar has one listed strong point and one listed weak point, taken from the following list: power, dexterity, constitution, charity, wisdom, intelligence, speed, luck, charm, leadership, obedience, artistry, initiative. If it is a weak point, the avatar does not have a great deal of the attribute, e.g. an avatar with charity as a weak point is greedy, an avatar with weak leadership could be a follower or a lone wolf type, and an avatar with obedience as a weak point might be rebellious. Strong and weak points may change with each level of growth and can be affected by roleplaying.

Alignment: Everyone, be they man, woman, or child, has a moral alignment. Most humans change their alignment as they age and develop, but for an avatar, alignment is a key part of the avatar's being. There are two parts to alignment, discipline and morality. Each of these has three variables.

Discipline: Discipline governs how an avatar follows rules, be they the rules created by society or a personal honor code. The three variables for discipline are lawful, neutral, and chaotic.

i. Lawful avatars believe in rules and in following them. They are orderly and principled. A lawful avatar never compromises the rules they live by and seeks to enforce the rules on others. Being lawful does not mean one cannot be evil: a lawful evil avatar might simply believe in enforcing a different set of rules than society does, or might take advantage of loopholes in the rules for nefarious purposes.
ii. Neutral avatars might have a personal moral code and follow the rules, but not always. While they do not go out of the way to break rules, they are willing to bend rules as the situation demands. A neutral avatar does not feel compelled to enforce rules on others. An example of a neutral person might be a cop who sometimes lets people slide on speeding tickets.
iii. Chaotic avatars hate rules and will either totally disregard them or make it a point to break them. They have no personal code and are generally undisciplined. A chaotic avatar can still be good, for example a thief who steals from the rich for charity, or merely a maverick anti-war protester.

Morality: Morality governs the personal goals of an avatar. There are three variables for morality: good, neutral, and evil.

i. Good avatars seek to help others and make the world a better place. Good avatars think about other people when deciding actions.
ii. Neutral avatars aim to survive, or help themselves without hurting others. Neutral avatars think about others, but usually put themselves first.
iii. Evil avatars want to hurt others or succeed at the expense of others. Evil avatars always put themselves or their goals first, and either don't care about or enjoy hurting anything that stands in the way.

Combining discipline and morality yields nine possible configurations for alignment. These are by no means concrete guidelines; you can interpret your character's alignment any way you please. This is just to get you started.

i. Lawful Good - righteous, realizing that law and order is necessary to protect others and preserve freedom and quality of life
ii. Neutral Good - rules might be beneficial or in the way; helping others justifies bending the rules around
iii. Chaotic Good - unfettered freedom fighters who believe that the human spirit is good and should not be shackled by rules
iv. Lawful Neutral - follows a personal moral code or "the letter of the law" if not the spirit, sees good and evil in all things or ignores such abstract concepts in favor of shades of grey
v. Neutral Neutral - rules might apply sometime, but are not absolute; all things are both good and evil and it's important to weigh the choices; or there is no good and evil, only shades of grey
vi. Chaotic Neutral - rules are nonexistent or in the way; good and evil exist everywhere or do not exist at all
vii. Lawful Evil - realize that law and order are tools towards controlling others and restricting freedoms
viii. Neutral Evil - neutral evil avatars are neither law-followers, nor anarchists; they may follow only those laws which suit them, or ignore laws, or operate by a loose personal code, or simply be willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve their goals
ix. Chaotic Evil - total anarchists dedicated to the destruction of the establishment, rules are obstacles to be destroyed

Roleplay Requirements: In order to unlock the next stage of development, you must complete a set of roleplay requirements, listed above. In order to move from Artifact to Manifest stage, you must complete a minimum of 4 RPs. Then, to move from Manifest to Neophyte, you must complete seven more RPs. These are only minimums! You can roleplay more if you like. When you are ready to advance to the next stage, PM this account and title your PM "Avatar Growth Request." We will then check your journal to see that you meet the requirements and reply back with your quest. RPs are classified as four types:

i. Compiled Shop RP takes place in the main Avatar Forge thread. You must then copy the text posted by all the participants into one post for your diary. This is called compiling. Compiled Shop RPs must be a minimum of 1200 words to count.
ii. Solo RP can take the form of a story written by you or a diary entry. Solo RPs must be a minimum of 300 words in order to count.
iii. Private RP can take place on or off Gaia and involves you and one or more other friends. You must post the compiled story in your diary. Private RPs must be a minimum of 750 words to count. If you cannot find anyone to RP with you in private you may use a Compiled Shop RP instead (but it must meet Shop RP minimums).
iv. Quests are specific tasks related to your avatar that you will receieve upon growth. A quest might be to retrieve an object or visit a special location. They are not specific and most of the details are up to you. You then roleplay the quest however and whenever you see fit. Quests must be a minimum of 1000 words written by you. (You may have another roleplayer with you, but you yourself must write at least 1000 words.) You can complete your quest before the other RP requirements or after.

There are several types of avatars. These are not species of avatars, but general classifications. An avatar may possess traits from more than one class and might not display all the potential traits of a class. (An Animus, for example, might not have cat ears and cat claws and a cat tail. An Animus might have only the ears or only the tail.)

i. Animus - These avatars possess traits of animals, be it ears or tails or paws. For example, Egyptian gods, or anthro characters.
ii. Celestial - Celestials seems to radiate an inner tranquility. Celestial traits include feathered wings. Celestials are fairly rare.
iii. Elemental - Specially attuned to natural forces, elementals display traits relating to their element, for example a fire elemental who has fiery hair or an earth elemental with rocklike skin.
iv. Fay - Fay may have insect-like wings and pointed ears and are of a spritely nature, generally smaller than their fellow avatars and relying more on speed and dexterity. They often have inhuman skin tones.
v. Infernal - Infernals can have demonic wings, tails, and claws, and are sometimes draconic in appearance.
vi. Planar - Planar avatars do not seem to have any special traits, mostly humanlike in appearance, but they are always more than meets the eye. They are noted for being very versatile.

Names: All avatars come with names, but if you for some reason or another feel compelled to call your avatar by something different for some reason, it can be placed on the cert. PM the shop account with your request.

...

Forging: New avatars are "born" when two or more avatars combine their powers in the Forge to call forth a new artifact. This can be done regardless of an avatar's gender or orientation. The only requirement is that all avatars participating have the same goal. Thus, an avatar may only forge a new avatar with another avatar who is of a similar alignment.

Avatars may also reproduce the old-fashioned way, provided both partners have the necessary equipment. The offspring will not, however, be an avatar, but a Demi. Demis are not reincarnated gods and do not have divine powers, though they may have some of the powers and skills of their parents.

Death: Having survived for several eons in a state of nothingness, there is nothing that can actually kill an avatar. Anything that would kill one simply destroys its current physical body; the avatar can then re-manifest.

Stage Halting: Your avatar has six total images, but you may decide that you like one image best. Once you have unlocked all six stages, you can change your avatar to any stage you like by re-completing the RP requirements for just the stage you want, minus the quest. So you could do the RP requirements for Neophyte after you do Deus and have the Neophyte image again, and then next skip forward to Transcend by completing the Transcend requirements. Because your avatar is already a Deus you will keep all five Divine Powers in all of the stages and if you return the avatar to an artifact, wearing or using the artifact can confer onto you the associated divine powers. So if you had Lemas and grew him up to an artifact you could then wear his circlet and have his powers. If you really wanted to. You are only allowed to do this after you have unlocked the Deus level.

Hidden almost in an alley is a shop with a blacksmith sign hanging outside the door. No store name is given, only the word "blacksmith" and a picture of a hammer and anvil.

Inside it is dark, with wrought iron fixtures and metal shelves. There is no merchandise on display. A girl dressed in black sits behind the counter, or wanders around the back wall. Sometimes she ignores the people who walk in, but when she does answer, she says only that she is the Caretaker, and that merchandise will surely be arriving next week, yet week after week there is nothing for sale on the shelves. there is a small seating area with black couches and chairs clustered around a small wooden coffee table stained with soot. There is a broken coffee maker on the table.

A small room off the main shop area houses the forge, which is unlit and does not seem to have been used recently. There is a restroom, small and cramped, with a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling and casting a sickly yellow light.

A spiral staircase made of iron is situated in the back of the shop which leads to the second floor. Here there are more couches, colorful ones, and pillows in rainbow hues and a refrigerator and small kitchen. The bathroom up here is white and blue and green with little pink flowers in the wallpaper and very well-lit. This colorful upstairs area seems to have no relation to the downstairs, except for a single black curtain hanging in a doorway, beyond which is a tiny room featuring a bed with black sheets. The bed is never made and the sheets are always twisted differently but no one is ever seen sleeping there.

Sometimes the Caretaker comes upstairs and smiles mysteriously at visitors. Mostly she sits behind the front counter and ignores the world, sometimes with a book. She never stops anyone from entering to look around but she does not encourage them either and there is never anything for sale.

But maybe, just maybe, the Caretaker might give you an item...

User Image[the forge]

Whispers tell of a manner in which an avatar can help in the forging of a new god, one totally previously unseen on all the planes, or aid in the resurrection of a previously lost comrade... but to do so requires the strength of more than one avatar.

Forging is the process by which two avatars lend their powers to the creation of a new artifact. Both avatars must be at least stage three in order to aid in the forging, and new gods may only be called forth if both avatars involved are of the Deus level.

There are certain restrictions on forging. The avatars must be of a similar mindset: they must have complementary alignments. Chaotic and lawful avatars may not forge together, and good and evil avatars may not forge together. Both avatars must have either alignment or discipline in common, or both.

So a lawful good avatar can forge with another lawful good avatar, a neutral good avatar, or a lawful neutral avatar.

A true neutral avatar can forge with any neutral avatar, or a neutral good avatar, or a neutral evil avatar.

A chaotic evil avatar can forge with another chaotic evil avatar, a chaotic neutral avatar, or a neutral evil avatar.

At some point we'll replace this with a nice, easy to understand chart!

More details forthcoming. (:
User Image[trades]
Pet trades from other shops are listed in the rules post. If your shop is not on there, please do not ask. We prefer to deal with the shop owners. If you are a very talented artist, we may be willing to trade you an avatar in exchange for your drawing one.

If you own an avatar, you may trade your avatar in for another if you are dissatisfied with the avatar or just want a change of character. You will be added to the super secret priority waiting list. People on this list have up to three days to decide if they would like the avatar. The list goes in chronological order. After three days, the first person on the list who wants the avatar gets it. If someone in front of you on the list wants the avatar you want, they will get it. Being on this list is a risk. Also, not all avatars will be available for this list. Guest-drawn avatars may be exempt.

<center>All official Avatar images are copyright (c) their original artists (henceforth referred to as "Creator" wink under applicable international and regional copyright laws governing original works whether copyright is explicitly placed on the image or not. The Avatar Forge concept is copyright (c) 2005 E. M. Reven. All Rights Reserved.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you're under 13, you must have a parent or guardian review these with you.

For Gaian "Owners" (henceforth referred to as "Users"): Usage of this artwork outside of the setting of Gaia Online roleplay is PROHIBITED. "Ownership" of the character in the Gaian setting only entitles the User to "roleplay" with the character, creating text-based derivative works and graphical derivative works as outlined below. You may not re-use the character in non-Project settings in any way, shape, or form without the permission of both the Creator and the Project.
Simply Put: You may only RP your avatar forge character on Gaia. You can't take the character and use him/her in your webcomic or an off-Gaia RPG. You can draw fanart or commission it, but you MUST READ THE NEXT SECTION and be sure any artist you commission on Gaia or off Gaia has also read it!

For Non-Creator Artists: Graphical derivative works involving characters from the Avatar Forge Project (henceforth referred to as "the Project" wink are permissable so long as 1) the image(s) are not resold in any format, real or imagined, without the explicit consent of the Creator, though payment may be made for the initial physical act of creating the art; 2) image(s) are used within the context of Gaia Online roleplay or personal display on a gallery site ONLY; and 3) proper credit is given to the Creator and the Project by a link back to the project, or a website or e-mail link to the Creator. You MUST inform the Project of the creation of any graphical derivative works by posting a link in the main thread or PMing the shop account. The Project reserves the right to host and redistribute all derivative works within the context of a Project gallery or Gaia Online roleplay. The act of creating a graphical derivative work is considered to be unvoiced consent to this agreement. At any time the Project or Creator may rescind your rights to create and display graphical derivative works, at which point you must remove such works from public display.
Simply Put: you may draw fanart of an existing Avatar Forge character and collect money real or imagined for the effort of doing the commission, but you may not re-sell that image as a print or adoptable or in any other fashion without permission from the character's Creator, and the Project may display your artwork online at its discretion. You must also link back to the Project or the Creator anywhere you display the image.

For Creators: By participating in the Project, you (the Creator) agree 1) to allow the reproduction and modification of your artwork by the Project on Gaia and any necessary image hosting services for as long as the Project exists; 2) that your artwork may be sold and re-sold for imaginary Gaian profit by the Project under the terms of your individual agreement with the Project; 3) to allow the creation of text-based derivative works by the User and of graphical derivative works under the conditions stated above. The Project may not sell or re-sell artwork created for the Project for any real money profit, and must always abide by the terms of the initial agreement with the artist regarding profit distribution anytime imaginary profits are exchanged for control of the Creator's character on Gaia, including re-sales, auctions, re-auctions, or contest entry fees in addition to the original sale of the avatar UNLESS the Creator is informed of the potential re-sale via Gaia or e-mail and fails to respond within three months. After three months, it is assumed the Creator has decided to abandon Gaian profit rights and the shop will collect 100% of any additional sales for the avatar character in question.
Simply Put: You allow your art to be used in the Project for Project purposes, and you're entitled to the share of profits stated in the initial agreement. There will be a three-month warning in the event the avatar is to be re-sold for any reason. If you don't reply within that three months, you effectively agree to abandon your share of the Gaian profits. Off Gaia, you can do whatever you want with the art, sell prints or whatever. The Project can't sell your art for any real money, only for imaginary Gaia gold and items.

If a Creator wishes to leave the project and withdraw their character design, she or he may do so provided all payment is refunded to the shop at full market value as of the time the Creator wishes to leave. No more derivative works of any nature will be allowed by Users or Non-Creator artists for Project purposes. The User will be given a new Avatar and a small percentage of the refund, not to exceed 10% of the original purchase price. If the Creator cannot refund all profit received from involvement in the Project, the Project may continue to use the Creator's character until such refund is received.
