KEEP SMOKIN'.

Gaia School Feature

I've pondered on how they might have a feature like this, even though it seems a bit out of this world for an online board--but so is fishing, casinos, and a battle system. So why the hell not? confused
So I gathered from what people have been asking, in the guilds forums that is, for a place where they could learn skills and or just to have the feature there to say it's there. I thought up some ways on how it would be done and how it would benefit the active Gaian Population.
You see the annoucements, Ling has just annouced a new feature. The date is April 05' 2006. You read through her annoucement and realize, after shock that is, that there's a Gaia School Feature now. You ask yourself "How the hell am I going to use this?". You run to the General Discussion to ask such a questions to spark interest throughout your regular peers. Too bad, there's already eighty-seven threads about the same thing.
Being angered that you weren't the first to bring up the subject, you hit the map button and make your way to the Dure'm Town. You mouse over all the previous inactive buildings that haven't been introduced yet, and you make your way to the upper-left hand corner building.

Clicking it, you are brought to a warm smiled NPC. You look at her name and read it carefully, jotting it into your memory. "Alinda". Alinda looks like Meredith's mother even. Not a wrinkle of age is shown, but the professional look of gold-rimmed glasses and a tight secretary uniform is present. Alinda asks you which one of three classes you'd like to take.
You stop, realizing that you came across a tutorial link that Ling had posted in her annoucement. Before jumping into something you obviously have no clue about, you hurry back in excitement to her annoucement. You click the link and are taken to VO. VO describes the tutorial very quick and simple-like.
Seems that the classes are all based on the Gaian story-line that was introduced when Beta was released. You're pretty informed on the current NPCs, the relationships, the events, the map geography, the ToS, various forum guidelines, and so forth. Which is pretty much what VO explains, that the classes are informative reads which are followed by a test on what you read. Also a test of what you know by being a Gaian user.
You automatically have a visual connection to what this is, it's exactly like Final Fantasy's beginning where you were given information and then you were to go and pass various SeeD level tests.
You head over back to the school, which you later find out by reading more carefully, it is called "Gaia Dure'm Campus". You get a hint that this may or may not be the last school Gaia may or may not introduce. You keep that thought in your mind, in hopes to make a thread about it later.
You head back to Alinda. She asks you which class you'd like to enter.
You click each grade in which each has it's seperate price.
Each has a certain description.
You realize that this may be fun, and you wonder if there are prizes at the end. @.@
You go back, once again, and read the tutorial. You say to yourself "Jesus Christ, I'm not really patient, am I?". You read VO's tutorial once again and it explains the process and of course the rewards.
Process|
Due to release of the Gaia's Plot or Storyline in January of 05', the school gives you a chance to learn more about the plot and it's surroundings. Not to mention the forum learning portion will educate our less informed Gaians about how to post on a online board and about where you should post in the forums.
Each level is a level of difficulty. Low grade begins the basics of the plot line, and just much of Gaian knowledge. At the very end, Alinda gives you a special item that can only be obtained by completing the Low Grade Exam. The exam is given to you at the end of the learning session.
The Low Grade Item is Nekmo Wizard Hat. The wizard hat has three features.
1. Hat, sits on your head.
2. Magical purple swirls around the shaft of the hat.
3. Gold moons, stars, and spheres surround your avatar when worn.
The High Grade is just a higher difficulty and more extended learning about what you learned the last time. After completing the High Grade Exam, you are given a completion item for this grade as well.
The High Grade Item is Helm Et Gravo. The helmet is silver and carries the same look as Leon's. It has no features, but is very nifty for you Leon-holics.
The Intellectual Grade is the most harsh and difficult portion of the school's criteria. It's knowledge involves quite a bit of detailed questions. It's worth it though. You are given a completion item after completing the Intellectual Grade Exam.
The Intellectual Grade Exam is Old Oak Staff of Wisdom. This item holds three features to it's name.
1. Staff, curved tip in swirl
2. Curl Extends and erects vertically, 3 inches higher than your avatar.
3. Leaves and or sprouts are found at the feet of your avatar. *Ducky Hat Look*
Each Grade completion is seperated by a period of time. So after you finish the Low Grade Exam and pass, hopefully. You must wait a period of 24 hours to take the High Grade level. The questions on the exams differ in 27 slots. So everyone's exams are not the same. It'd take awhile for someone to gather each 27 versions of the tests. No cheating now. : )
Note: If you fail the test, you will not have to pay again to take it. Once you've paid the first time for whatever grade you're enrolling in, you do not need to pay again if say you fail the exam. You will falls subject to take the session of learning again, and of course the exam once again for the grade in question.
The tests themselves also add points into your expierence level in Battle, and an event at the end of the year allows all those who finished all of the grade level exams, entry to the Gaian Mansion for the Graduation Party. In which will have it's own items and fun in it's self.
You prepare to take the Gaian Low Grade learning session and exam. You hope you pass so that you don't look like a idiot infront of your Gaian regulars when you reply to a thread discussing the new feature. Ready, set, go!
*No real annoucements or release about the feature in question*
Actual uniforms for the Dure'm University would be nice. We already have uniforms in the shops, but ones made just for the university would be kickin'.
Perhaps little "GDU" intials on the shoulder of so and so matching attire? @w@
I was thinking around these terms on the uniform, just so the ones that aren't willing to spend much, dont get something amazingly awesome.
Low Grade Uniforms - These would be of low quality, you're a freshman, you get a uniform thats simple, and consists mostly of the same color. It has the initials put in on the sleave, so its known that you are going to the school, not just dressing crapily.
High Grade Uniforms - You'd be a bit more well known than the freshman, you've been here long enough to know a bit more than most, but you're still on your way to the top. The design is more over to a frog suit, but with blue coding and lines around it. You are a designated middle classman.
Intellectual Grade Uniforms - You are the highest class, well respected and known. You know way more than most, you deserve to have your presense known. You wear a white uniform, more like a generals from the navy. A green and gold line design is nicely drawn on your sleaves, your schools name is patched down next to your left shoulder, the buttons on your jacket are gold plated. Your pants also consist of the fine line design. Your shoes are mostly black and bear a symbol on each outer side of the heel, you are a represenative of your school.
I think it'd be nice heart
Discussion: Gaian School, perhaps a little too much for Gaian standards, or fun concept you're willing to try? *It doesn't have to be what I said above, just an idea of it*
[I don't care if you think it's long and or a bit too much for a person to post. It's just I find interest in improving Gaia and so forth. Most of us spend hours, upon hours on this site and for me, it strikes a rather creative taste to come up with extended ways to put forth for it's future. Kay? Alrighty, love y'all]

High Grade|
"Movin' on up eh? Welcome to the middle part of the ladder. You'll learn your basic Gaian geography, more extensive course about your Gaian local's relationships, and given a more indepth learning on items and forum training. Tests are followed of course. Think you're ready? I hope so."
Intellectual Grade|
"No more being a shrub for you. You're a big kid now, no more silly kid games here. You'll be put through harsh and mind-splattering tests. You'll learn very extensive Gaian history, extensive courses on NPC's bios, geographical knowledge in the most detailed portions, forum requirements, and or course, feature and event knowledge. This proves again you have too much time on your hands gonk heart
It's an interesting idea, but it would need some tweaking. If it will enhance your character's battle prowess, perhaps classes could be incorporated, or main statistics. Varying classes in Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom and Constitution could be taken, with each class netting only higher chances for quests and the like in these fields and bonuses to your stats, the last and hardest exam will grant certain items.
Completing the Strength course will net you shoulder pauldrons, one of your choice: Metallic (think Leon's armour or slightly worn), Paladin (paladins of light or darkness) or Bone (skulls or ribcages), so each with two seperate forms you may choose from at any time.
The Dexterity course would net you Thief's punch daggers: single large glove covering the right arm (sheathed or unsheathed blade), same glove on the left arm, or wrist-mounted punching daggers.
Intelligence can net you more different items: Catagologuer's glasses (a mystical pair of glasses with varying lenses next to it - lenses fully slid off the eyes or not), the Tome of Knowledge (a holy book or a grimoire of sorts) or the Staff of Knowledge (with either an orb at the top, clasped in the wood, or an open tome on it near eye-level).
Constitution grants you chest plating: Metallic, Paladin or Bone again.
Wisdom grants you one of the following: Mystic's Cloak (a blueish cloak with gold stars and whirls written on the inside, or a reddish one with runes of sorts), Druid's Totem (either the wolf head with some marks on it or a hart's head with marks and runes on it) or the Familiar (which has three forms: a Raven on the shoulder, a brown Rat, or a Bat).
Users may take up all classes, but may only graduate in up to two of them. Costs may have to be upped for such interesting items and boosts.
...That's my bit on items and such. It might be a fun feature, but let's first work on balancing things out. And I'd hate to see Gaia turn to some more still version of Ragnarok Online sweatdrop
EDIT: And it's Dürem... DÜREM xp

I heart you and your brain
I love the idea, a school thing goin on, a graduation party, it'd be cool if they released some uniforms with it also, depending on how high up you were, you'd get a different color uniform and such.
Awesome man, pure genius heart
