This is Sunstrike's Drawer, where he may keep items and document the progress of his kirin-spirit, Energy. ONLY him to post, unless he allows otherwise!

West of Sunrise

Events

This morning you can carefully placed your parchment in the light of the sunrise, smiling to yourself as the glow rose about the symbol. But as you turned away, you stopped. Was the glow continuing to increase? Transfixed by the sight, you can only watch as the symbol grows brighter and brighter, until the strong red ink almost seems to leave the paper and float up the sunbeams. As it reaches the window and is outlined by the sunlight, it suddenly flares into incandescense. You shield your eyes from the brightness; when your sight finally clears, you gasp. Balancing shakily on the windowsill is a small, kirin-like spirit creature, about the size of a lapdog. It turns its trusting eyes towards you, and you realise with a jolt that you have done it; through your care and attention the spirit has left its long years of imprisonment. The kirin-spirit blinks, and then jumps awkwardly off the windowsill to the floor.
"Energy?" He asks in his light, childlike voice. And you can say nothing, but beam and nod.

After taking the parchment carefully to his shop, Fire Storm, where Sunstrike kept and cared for most of his pets, he went to the small, dry backroom behind the front desk. This is where he kept all of his records, did most of his work, and now where he gently lay out the paper, strangely soft and delicate to the touch. Dren followed him as he always did, poking his nose where it didn't belong.

"What's this?! O.O" The puppy-like creature looked on curiously as Sunstrike studied the word inscribed. He didn't answer for a little bit, and Dren sweatdropped. Eventually Sun realized he had been spoken to, and blinked in surprise and no little embarassment.

"It's a scroll I got from Kel-chan, you know, the one that gave me Ares." Which resided in the egg room with the others, close to the boiler which Sunstrike, being a fire salamander himself, always kept on for his comfort when the nights got a bit chilly.

The Venefi blinked in surprise.

"Well? What does it stand for?"

"Energy." Sunstrike sighed and then opened one of the empty drawers of his wooden cabinet, carefully parceling the paper away. "I'm supposed to open it again when the sunlight comes through this window." He pointed and Dren nodded wordlessly. "Don't let me forget, eh? You know what I'm like."

Dren smiled as with this statement Sunstrike reaches over and scratches behind one of the Venefi's ears.
"You've already forgotten, that your forgetfulness is exactly the reason I'm here, Sunstrike. Oh and before even I forget, you might wanna go check on..."

The words were lost as they both walked out of the room. As the door closed and darkness filled the room a soft glow came from around the drawer where the parchment was placed, brightly at first, and then softly receding until all was dark and quiet again.

The door only creaked slightly as Sunstrike entered the room. The morning sun streamed through the window curtains like a red and gold river, which pooled onto the desk, lighting the amber wood in a firey gold. It was a tad stuffy after the night, and Sun opened the window wide, letting a soft, cool breeze run through the now quite bright workroom.

He then sat behind the desk and sighed, leaning back slightly in the chair and enjoying the peacefullness for just a second before reaching down and opening the drawer where he had put Energy last night. Cautiously he placed it right in the sunlight, as per ordered. He then got out a few blank pages and began to get down to work, scribbles filled the room, at least until Dren woke up, and then soft music from one of the front rooms began to leak in, which never bothered Sun, since it helped him work faster.

Every once in a while his eye was drawn to the brownish paper, weighted down at one corner with a pretty stone he had found and cleaned for exactly the purpose of holding paper down, and the bright red symbol it held.

Suddenly, the music got a lot louder as Dren nudged the door open, something small and green attached to his head and clashing with the bright red of his fur. Sunstrike, who had turned to see what was going on, blinked in surprise.

"Well I see you two are getting along well."

Dren lowered his ears, or, at least, he would have if they hadn't been stabalizing Fallen, he settled for just lowering his head in embarassment.

Yes well, he said he wanted a ride," The puppies eyes widend in excitement which became mirrored in Fallens. The muse had a strange way of picking up peoples emotions and unconsciously mimicking them at the same time. Probably it's former life as a bard which affected it's theatre-esk ability. And we took a trip all around town, because he wanted to see what everything was like here, and, and, and, we got free ice cream, the park was nice, the river was fun to swim in...

Sun whistled low as he payed apt attention to they're journies of the day.

"Sounds like you two had a good adventure." Then he looked a little incredulously at Fallen. "But, as a muse, arn't you suppose to be, you know, helping me?"

It blinked at him in surprise.
"Haven't I? Whats all that then.

Sunstrike looked where he pointed to the mass of finished ink drawings and blinked, he hadn't realized how much he had gotten done!

"I guess so, thankyou so much, Fallen!" Sun also noticed that by now the sun had gone down. Reaching over, he picked up the paper containing energy, gently rolled it up, and just as carfully placed it back in it's resting place in the drawer.

"Home-time guys! Who's up for a cuppa and a biscuit, eh?" Enthusiastic replies all around, they left the room, closing the door behind. Again a soft red glow outlined the cracks where the parchment was, before it faded into darkness.

Again the door opened, this time, amazingly, with a foot. A nudge after that, and Sunstrike was in the room, balancing papers, a cup of tea, and some slices of toast, one of which was being munched on.

Sun placed the papers down, brushed away any spare crumbs and took a sip from the ceramic mug. He winced though as the door banged open and Fallen entered, full size and carrying the stereo into the room. Plugging it in, he turned it on, finding a station he liked.

Meanwhile Sunstrike reached down and opened Energy's storage drawer, taking it out and placing it directly in the morning light, again with the amber stone placed on the top. He nearly had a heart attack when Fallen found a rock station at full volume. Frantically he motioned the muse to turn it down and just rescued the mug from falling over onto his work, but more importantly, onto Energy.

Once the volume had receded, and a very apologetic Fallen taken a seat, Sunstrike began the task of colouring his previous days work, with much help and direction from the green creature.

Fallen casually strolled through the shop door, he had gone out for a walk, and only just realized how late it was as the sun sank and dusk rolled in like a dark blanket.

All was quiet in the shop, here and there quiet stirrings showed that there was still life here, albeit sleeping life. The backroom door was slightly ajar, and he shifted it, then sighed and leaned in the doorway. Sunstrike had fallen asleep over his drawings. Searching around he found a throw that he put around his friends shoulders, before going into the other room to catch some shut eye. Before this however, he noticed the scroll heald down by the stone. Carefully he rolled it up and placed it in it's resting place.

Soon all that was left in the room was Sun's soft breathing. The man was lit up by the glow from the drawer, and then everything was darkness.

Sunstrike started awake.

o_O

He had slept hunched over the desk...his back hurt now, and he couldn't feel his rear...other then that he was perfectly fine! He noticed that someone had slipped a blanket over his shoulders. Sleepily he looked at the desk.

It took him a second to realize that Energy wasn't there.

gonk

Papers flew as Sun anxiously searched through the piles on his desk. When nothing turned up there he looked under the desk. Just his back end was sticking out from underneath as Fallen wandered in, slamming the door open letting bright sunshine from the shop flood in.

Rise and shine Sun! I....o.O What are you doing?

Sun had banged his head with an almighty crash into the desk, startled at Fallen's entrance. Right now he was rocking back and forth nursing his aching head.

crying "I've lost Energy! gonk I don't know where he's gone! O-O" Sun noticed the open window..."Oh NO!!!!" And he dove out before Fallen could even speak.

Sighing, the foxlike creature carefully reached into the drawer and pulled out the parchment from it's customary resting place. The put it carefully in the bright sunlight with the stone to hold it down. Amusing as it was to see Sunny panic, he wasn't going to torture his friend, and he left to go console the tired madman, leaving the scroll unfurled on the desk admidt all the scattered drawings.

Sunstrike dragged himself into the room, shut the door and plunked himself down. Slowly he tried to rub the sleepyness from his eyes by rubbing the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. This failing he sighed. Then he reached down and pulled another parchment from the rug sack he had brought in, carefully he unrolled it next to energy.

"Energy, this is a new friend for you! He's a parchment too, although it might take him a bit longer to grow, since he's younger. When you appear, you can help me take care of him if you like, just like Fallen and Dren have helped me take care of you!"

Sleepily Sunstrike nodded to himself, then carefull rolled up each of the parchments seperately, and put them away in the drawer. Seeming really reluctant to leave, Sun got up eventually and trudged off to a bed for the night, leaving the dark room behind.

Sun just stared at the small, deer-like creature looking at him with big eyes. He hadn't expected anything like this! Gently he held out his hand, and without even sniffing Energy nuzzled it. Then suddenly it rushed off! There was a red blur, and then a crash in the main room.

Sun, a little less quick, ran through the open door to see a massive pile-up of three pets, two red and one bright green.

Wha-? @.@
Look could you just get off my, whats with this leg?!
Energy!!

Sun tried not to laugh...he really REALLY tried. But in the face of this...who could really blame him? Three pairs of eyes stared at him as he cracked up in the doorway, having to hold himself up by the frame as laugh after laugh escaped from him. It didn't last for too long as a huge animal monster, still connected in some places launched itself and tackled him throught the door.

Sunstrike wandered into the room carrying a zonked out Energy in his arms, followed by a newly bandaged Dren and Fallen, both looking a bit like walking zombies.

What the heck in this world, moves THAT fast?!

I dunno about you but I'm wiped, and STILL seeing red blurs

Both whispers fell into silence at a look from Sun, who carefully placed Energy in a basket he had made up for the little creature earlier that day. There were a few muffled mews as Energy dreamed something in his sleep, feet still twitching, making Sunstrike chuckle softly. Getting up then he put the Soul Scroll back in the drawer, and hustled the other two out quietly.

Sunstrike entered the room and sat down, he rested there for a second, before reaching down and picking up a book with blank pages. On the front was inscribed Energy.

Journal written for Energy, by Sunstrike. Entry 1.

Today, Energy and the rest of us went to the park for a swim and a picnic. Well the others swam and I watched, although I probably got just about as wet as everyone else as Energy dove in straight away, nearly drowned, got saved by Fallen (What
can't my muse do?), and promptly tackled me sopping wet.

After drying off we attempted to garner Energy's attention for long enough to teach him how to doggy paddle. He may have the attention span of a mayfly, but he learns just as quick as his attention lasts, which is amazing to me, and soon he was paddling merrily away with Dren. It just shows how wonderfully bright he is. This doesn't explain why he can't say more then five words altogether. At first I thought it was just because he was little, but now I'm begginning to suspect that his mind goes so fast his mouth has a hard time following up. It's just a lot easier for him to rush in head on then trying to explain what he wants.

Soon it was time to eat, Energies favorites seem to be normal fruit, apples being the best, although I hesitate to give him anything with sugar in it, no matter how natural it happens to be. I am hoping that one day all of this energy within the small one will turn into endurance as opposed to spurts of rushing followed by narcholeptic crashes that last about an hour. With time I think he'll adjust his internal systems and his legasy into something that won't wear him thin, but he's young, and as far as I'm concerned he can do what he likes, I'm not going to force him to do something simply because it's inconvieniant to have him knocking into things, although I have gently helped him to learn that he doesn't HAVE to run full tilt into a room or a house, and that it's a lot less painful to run in open fields.

After the picnic, and subsequent collapse of Energy, we all had had enough and made our way home that evening to our beds.
