Does anyone know any REAL gun that is better than the AK?

ALSO,why doesn't the U.S. use this gun if it is better than he M-16?

The AK is a light weight automatic that never jams even if you drop it in mud, sand, etc. because it is loose in the inside while the M-16 jams easily because it is tight in the inside, so which would you rather have in battle?
i like it but its not very accurate
The M-16, highly more accurate. The AK-47 is the ideal "clear out the room with a spray of shots" assault rifle philosophy, but when it comes right down to it, you can't clear out a room when you get shot in the face by this:

M-16
The M-16 used in Vietnam jams a lot. The one currently GI'd ios the M-16A3, which jams about as often as the AK-47, and does not have the range, and accuracy issues. The AK does jam, also, just not frequently. And it does require cleaning. If you dropped it in thick mud, neither of the two would fire properly until cleaned.

I'd say the M-249 is better than either, as is the G-36. The AK-47 is one of the worst guns actually, due to it's bad range and accuracy.
Depends on the range, power, and number of bullets the situation calls for.
However, I will say an AK makes for a handy short range "spray and pray" weapon.

Probably because it was developed by the Soviets, whom we were in conflict with.
Just because a gun is good in CS doesn't mean it's good in real life. Kthx.

The AK-47 is just a symbol of resistance. That's the only reason it's still being used. Only rebels and such use it.

Either that, or it's one of the cheapest guns on the market, that still packs a punch.

True, there's also that.

The AK-47 is a solid weapon, no question, but I've fired and tested a whole lot of them, and there are a number of guns that simply get better bench accuracy and better handling. An AKM can't hold a candle to, just to cite a couple of favorites of mine, a Steyr Aug or G-11.

The big advantages to the AK are thus.

1) They're dirt cheap to make

2) They have an almost supernatural ability to withstand abuse

3) They last.

That's why.

The American military, by the way, doesn't use the M-16. In fact, what we think of as the M-16 was rarely used, especially after it's dismal performance in Vietnam. The original M-16A1 was prone to all sors of gremlins. A drop of mud or rain would jam the whole works and make it useless.

What we use today is simple one incarnation of the M4. We haven't used a true M-16 as standard since 'Nam.

What we can mass produce now is simply better pound for pound than the AK.

However, many nations or organizations that don't have a massive industrial complex and corporate resources will correctly find that AK's are, as bargain basement weapons go, the best you can get.

But why settle for bargain basement when you can go cutting edge? That's why we don't use the AKM.

yes cost/benefit makes it competitive for some uses, probably not ideal for an army
The Ak-47 is the standart here in Eastern Europe

The standard is set too low then.
Depends on what you're trying to do. I find weapons like this far more entertaining to use, and more effective against vehicles. The AK-47's pros are that it's cheap, durable, and uses a large caliber. But it isn't very accurate, which is a bad thing for most soldiers.
