^^; If I have missed anything, feel free to say so.

And does anyone have any particular favorites? Exile's Honor, Exile's Valor, Joust, and Alta are my personal favorites.
I haven't read any of her books actually, but I've heard that they are very good. I wouldn't know where to start, though. eek
I suggest you start with the original Heralds of Valdemar trilogy: Arrows of the Queen, Arrow's Flight, and Arrow's Fall. They were her first published novels, and they introduce the readers to Valdemar and everything else.
Thanks. ^^; I'll remember that for later, when I go find a book to read. (Maybe for the beach. X3)
I've read some of her stuff. The Heralds of Valdemar trilogy, Sword of Ice, Knight of Ghosts and Shadows, the Bardic Voices books, The Black Swan, and Elvenbane and Elvenblood. Actually, I guess that's quite a bit.

I think her stuff is okay, but really nothing more than brain candy. Does provide for a good read, though, if that's what you're in the mood for. I think my favorites are the first couple of Bardic Voices books and Knight of Ghosts and Shadows. I'd actually kind of like to read the sequals to that one. (I'm a musician, so that explains why I like those books. I play some Celtic music too, which explains it even more, at least for Knight....)

Edit: Forgot. Something I do like about her books are the 'non-traditional' relationships. Homosexuals, for one thing. And the threesome that develops in Knight.... She's good about portraying that kind of thing well.

Now that it's mentioned, I love her fairy-take-takes, such as The Black Swan and The Fairy Godmother. I got the latter for my birthday and just loved it.
The Free Bards Books also drew me in as true favorites from her. I bought those books seperately and then together in the Bardic Voices combined book "The free bards". It didn't include Four and Twenty Blackbirds, (although I never really saw the point in Four and Twenty Blackbirds, am I alone here?) I wasn't at all dissapointed. I think I've read that(the combined book) more times than I have any other.

Oh, I think you missed The Valdemar Companion, on your list, as well as The Free Bards(combined book) if you count those.

Ive read a few of her books... I really liked Joust and Alta. Is she going to add a third book to that set? I recently picked up Elvenbane at a bookshop... didnt realize there were more in that series. biggrin Yay!

I have had few problems to find those books but my personal favorites are Exile's Honor, Take a Thief and Black Gryphon. I hope to find more books from the libraries, but it's hard as no-one has translated them into Finnish yet. Library and bookstores tend to take only limited amount of English books into their collections.
Her stuff is basically romantic fantasy, which is probably why I like it so much. ^_^ But yeah, it isn't the most thought-inducing stuff in the world, but it is good for a nice read.

Well, I wouldn't count The Valdemar Companion as one of the books, considering it was primarily compiled and editted by other authors - though there is a novella in it...

I actually haven't read all of Lackey's books - I'm strill trying to get my hands on By the Sword, Oathbreakers, Brightly Burning, as well as own my copies of the Last-Herald Mage trilogy (one of my friends managed to buy a hardcover omnibus of the trilogy, the lucky b****).

Mythical Menace

i've read most of her books excepting the Valdemar series...
there's too many of those crying i'd never finish or find them all
i'll stick with the shorter series thanks...
i loved them all
the elemental masters, the Bards, SERRA, and the Diana Tregarde Investigations
yea, i'm just a tiny bit obsessive sweatdrop
I the books that i have read are Brightley Burning, Take a Thief and The Heralds of Valdemar series All good. Planning on reading more of her books smile
