A Seaquine Story

Seaquine Grotto is a safe house for the ocean's inhabitants. Only gentle creatures roam in its light, the dark denizens of the deep restricted to colder waters. Seaquines and many other sea creatures live in harmony on the ocean floor, feeding on the plentiful seaweed beds and coral reefs that ring the Grotto.

The actual Grotto is the remnants of a long-since dormant underwater volcano. Riddled with passages and chambers, the seaquine have called it home for as long as the oldest elder can remember!

However, a powerful earthquake three generations back destroyed many of the grotto's oldest rooms, and all of the elder population perished. The past hundred years have been spent rebuilding and healing shattered families.

Now, the atmosphere of Seaquine Grotto is once again happy and bright. However, among the secrets that were swallowed by the ocean floor was information of another race of sea creatures, dark and forbidding. The oldest adults that could remember the true stories have all long since forgotten, however, and the thoughts of the seaquine's oldest enemy has been reduced to simple legend.

For now, it is enough that the youngsters are happy and healthy, and that no new threats have surfaced in or around the Grotto. But that may change...

Shop Rules

Umbrella Rules (pertains to anything Seaquine)

-Follow all Gaia TOS.
-ONLY PM the shop mule, Seaquine Grotto. PMs sent elsewhere will not be answered.
-Do not steal any art. Only have a seaquine in your signature if it belongs to you.
-Payment for a seaquine must be prompt. If you win a flatsale or auction, please start the trade within the first 24 hours, or the seaquine will be put up for sale once again.
-Co-ownership of a seaquine is not allowed. A single seaquine may belong to one person only.
-Save your Seaquine to your own image server, please. Once a flatsale is won, the seaquine will remain on my photobucket for a week, after which it will be taken down. New stages will have a new link, and will be displayed in the guild shop for a week until you pick it up. If RL interferes, please let the shop mule know and I will keep the new stage on my photobucket until you can pick it up.
-NO WHINING.

Roleplay rules

-No godmodding.
-Try to refrain from OOC talk in a roleplay thread. If you must, contain the OOC-ness in brackets: ((...)).
-Seaquines do not breed until they reach the second year of their adult stage. Period.

Breeding Rules:

-Only those that RP may breed their seaquines.
-Male seaquines are able to reproduce after they reach their adult stage. Female seaquines are able to reproduce after their second month in their adult stage.
-Like seahorses, it is the male in which the seaquine embryos grows. Males carry the seaquine embryos in their pouches for three weeks before the baby stage seaquines are produced. Seaquines usually only have 2 babies at a time; triplets have been recorded before, but they are extremely rare.
-Shortly after becoming 'pregnant', the male seaquines' activity level tends to decrease as they conserve their energy for the growing embryos. In this time period, the females forage for their mates while the male attaches their tail to a sturdy support to stay until the babies are ready to leave the male's pouch. This is the period in which seaquines are the most vulnerable, and to protect themselves, pregnant males usually settle in large groups, where other seaquine may watch over them.
-After the babies have left the male's pouch, they are ready to be sold.
-The owners of the mated pair must come to an agreement BEFORE the breeding, on how the babies will be split once they are ready.
-Owners may either sell the baby in an auction, gift the baby to another user, or keep the baby for themselves.
-If you choose to sell, you MUST sell the baby through the main Seaquine Grotto shop, with 30% profit going to the Seaquine shop, and 70% profit to the owner.
-Seaquines may mate only once a year, in real time.
-Breeding permits cost 20k gold. The cost must be split between the two seaquine owners, in whatever proportion you decide.

Seaquine Stages

-Baby; the baby stage is the shortest stage, taking anywhere from 2-3 weeks to grow to the next stage.
-Juvenile; the juvenile stage is the longest stage, taking at least 1-2 months to grow to an adult.
-Adult; No one knows how long adult seaquines may live.
-Elder; no information is known about this mysterious stage.

Accessories and Potions

Baubles to accessorize your seaquines and special potions to freeze stages or insta-gro if you can't wait for that adult form! Coming soon!

Current Flatsale Rules:

-The Grand opening flatsale will be a SPEED FLATSALE. After the shop mule posts "GO," the first users to post with the following form will get a seaquine.
-Each user is allotted ONE seaquine per flatsale. A user may buy the seaquine for themselves or for a friend, but that is the limit.
-You may NOT edit your posts.
-Any forms missing information will not be counted, so double-check your forms before you post!
-As soon as you are notified of a winning post, please start a trade immediately. Payment must be started 24 hours after winning a flatsale; otherwise, the seaquine will be put up for sale once again.

Flatsale F.A.Q:

Q: How much does a flatsale baby cost?
A: A flatsale baby costs 5ooog*.

Q: Can I choose a design for a flatsale baby?
A: No. The babies are pre-colored, and their gender will be labeled. You may choose a name, however.

Q: What do I have to do to get a baby?
A: The rules for each flatsale will be posted at least a week prior to the actual flatsale.

Q: Can I buy more than one baby for myself?
A: A user may only buy one baby for themselves per flatsale. They may, however, purchase a baby for their friend in a flatsale.

Custom seaquines may be made available for a custom price, depending on artist availability. The Grotto's artist is a full-time college student, so custom slots will be few and far between.

Bribes

Too impatient to wait for a flatsale? Not able to afford that auction? Seaquines may be bribed from the shop from time to time, depending on slot availability.

Currently, a baby seaquine may be bribed for 20k gold.

You may choose a name, gender, and basic colors ONLY. Fill out the following form and PM it to the shop mule:
