What this thread’s here for!
People are always griping about how inflation is ruining their chances of getting items. Well, let me let you in on a secret: you can use it to your advantage. I remember when Nitemare Scarves, and Angel Minis were obtainable, now they seem out of reach, but there's hope yet!
That’s why this thread is here! I may not be able to detain inflation, but with some good advice you can sure as hell play the game to your advantage!
Using Graphs and Resources
When looking for a good item to invest in, it's good to be able to view a history. By going to www.tektek.org and searching the Item List, you can view recent history, but one of the best ways to tell if your investment will be a smart or dumb one, is to use the graphs.

When you watch the graphs, you can see the history over a long period of time. Being able to read these graphs can often determine whether or not you'll prosper in the stocks.
Viewing the Goti Clips, what do we see? They have volleyed around in the low hundred thousands range and the high hundred thousands range. A good stock player could tell you that by this information, they will go up, but there will be setbacks in the meantime. All true, if you read the graph carefully. Sometimes, as you can see here, previously the item was expensive but plummeted. There are many factors including supply and demand that lead to the fall in price. By reading the History of the item on Tektek, you can see the real results of the graph. Goti clips used to hang around the 160-170K range. But now they dropped around in the 140K range. If you look farther down the history, you see that they were 140K before rising to the 170K range. So as this shows, despite plummeting prices, they will go up in time. If you need help reading the graphs or need some advice on an item, PM me and I will be glad to help.
Also, if there are any users that wish to be put on a list for people to contact for advice, PM me and I'll put you up here so people can PM you for advice. It would take a load off of me.
Neo's Market History
I do this by surfing the MP and bidding on an item at it's peak, then selling it for average MPV.
Other ways to do this, is to purchase an item that seems to slowly inflate. Hold onto it. Maybe get a few more, then you cold sell back and make (4X) what you paid.
People always tell me it doesn't work. I have the results to say they do.
Better Tips
Items In High Demand! [MCs, etc.]
April Sealeds: The Sealed Envelopes for this month aren't nearly as pricey as they have been in recent months. But, that's probably because of the March collectibles. My advice, is to donate to the site via cash, get at least four items, this way you can sell two and have two. That or buy some in the MP if you're willing to chance it.
Demonbows: Demand for these has been high, and although they aren't at a high price at the moment, Neo predicts they will reach at least 60K over the next few months.
Goti/Bani Clips: These have jumped around in price, but are steadily increasing. If you want a long term investment, it's here.
OMFG/BTK: These have been dropping in price, however it's a temporary drop. Get one while they're hot, and cheap!

Better Tips
- • Copy your password!
This makes it easier to paste and make a bid when you see an item about to expire. You can also use Firefox's save password feature to have it auto-pasted whenever it's asked.
• Never bid too much on an item!
If someone is trying to beat you out of an item, and the bids are getting closer to the Market Value, forget about it. It will do you no good if you lost gold in the fight.
• Be persistent!
If an item only has a few minutes left, stay on the item's page and refresh every ten or so seconds to see if anyone else has placed a bid. [This may be hard for people on a 56K modem.]
• Check a seller's online status.
If they are online, odds are they're going to cancel the sale if the current bid isn't what they wanted. This means you wasted all that time when you could have gotten a better item.
• Purchase an item that is SLOWLY inflating.
Watch it. If you buy more than one, and don't pay attention, they could deflate and you could be out big gold.
• Don't wait for an item to reach a crazy price.
If you have five Demonbows, and you notice they stopped rising for about a month, sell two of 'em. This way, if they start to deflate, you have the spare gold from the previous ones to fall back on.
• Always have a backup plan.
If an item drops in price and you invested in it, try to find a way to cushion your gold drop. Don't panic and sell all them at the last minute. Hold onto a few. It may just be a temporary drop, then they could rise to a price where you can't repurchase them.
• Stock up on Monthly Collectibles!
I know, I know. Not everyone is able to get their hands on sealed envelopes. BUT for those that can, it's smart to watch the build of hype for a month's item. This way you know if you should invest in those or not. You can usually tell if they're gonna plummet or climb in price.
• Watch when you sell!
This is important because the time you sell can make all the difference. Take for instance around Christmas time this past year, OMFGs and Lunar Cloaks rose about 20K in two days. They haven't sunk far below that since. Always watch for certain times when demand for items is higher. Summer Vacation (thank you Snaggel_Tooth) is a good time to sell because users are out on break and flooding Gaia. They have more time to earn gold and buy those items they missed out on during the school year.
