When exactly does this take place?
The Gaia Jedi Academy takes places exactly five years after the events that occurred in game, Knights of the Old Republic. Also meaning, this is thousands of years before the New Republic, Luke Skywalker and all those characters, so I don't really want to hear about them. The only thing acceptable is the mentioning of the Prophecy that Anakin participates in, but again he doesn't exist yet.

Yes, I'm aware that there is a game sequeling Knights of the Old Republic, and that it takes place five years after the original game, but this isn't Knights of the Old Republic 2, consider this an... alternate ending? Instead of the Sith slowly preparing for a new onslaught, they are crippled and weak, along with the Republic after what has been come to be known as the Sith War to Jedi, but the Jedi Civil War to anyone else.

After the destruction of Dantooine's Jedi Enclave, it was decided by the Republic with agreement from the Jedi Council that a new one would be built to take its place, on Gaia... even though this tranquil (also considered 'back-water') planet was far from being in the Republic's hold. A perfect place to train young Jedi, hidden from the crawling Sith, scavenging for revenge on any Jedi they could find. The Academy was placed under the command of Kyros Niashi, Jadi Hassin, Kollie Lafie and Sarah Birawin.

The Jedi were discovered, however.... Yet this remains beyond their knowledge.

The Sith quickly built a Temple beyond the notice of the Jedi's eyes, led by the infamous Darth Mauhi Navic. He was sent by his higher-up, but like any Sith, plots to overthrow them and become the overall Sith ruler himself.

The Sith will watch, slowly attempting to corrupt the minds of the young Jedi. They'll stay quiet...

... for now.

To become a player...
1. Purchase: Flat sale RolePlaying events, auctions, and ordering a custom, are the only three ways to purchase an Apprentice. There is one custom slot open each month, and each slot costs 200k to occupy. That is a lot, but if you're dedicated enough to raise 200k, I think you'd be dedicated enough to properly raise a Jedi.
2. RolePlaying Events: Some events held by the Academy may lead up to you receiving an Apprentice, but this is extremely rare. Understand that just because you RolePlay, doesn't mean you'll be named a Caretaker.
3. Contests: Prizes can vary in these contests, but on odd occasion there is a chance that an Apprentice will pop up as a prize. Contests can be from colouring contests and design contests to writing contests. Don't hate us if we don't choose you as a winner, it's our choices to make.

Understanding the I.D. Cards
Name: This is the name of your Jedi, you choose the name once they arrive on Gaia. It's very rare that that name is pre-determined.
Gender: Guess? It's the gender of your Jedi, and this cannot be changed.
Race: The Jedi's race, or species. No, this cannot be changed. The race can often effect the abilities and personalities of the Jedi.
Rank: The rank represents the Jedi's place in the Academy and their stage of life.
Class: Once a Jedi reaches the rank of Padawan, they receive a test to determine their first class. Once their test is complete, a class will be recommended to them, but it is the Jedi's choice in the end. In the final rank of either a Jedi or a Sith, the class changes again into one of the higher Prestige Classes. There will be no test this time, it is completely the Jedi or Sith's choice.
D.o.A.: The date that the Student first landed on Gaia and was accepted into the Academy.
Caretaker: This is you, the Caretaker of the Jedi. You do not own them, you are not their parents, so Caretaker you will be and remain.
Student ID: If your Jedi's ID number is '0000001', your Jedi was the first to be accepted into the Academy (not necessarily the first to arrive). Etc...

{ Rules & Regulations }

User Image

General Rules
1. Do not harass the staff or owners in any way, shape or form.
2. Do not ask for a Jedi, do not ask when the nest sale or event is. I will announce them when I see fit to.
3. You can only own one Jedi. Pretty clear rule...
4. Please use proper spelling and grammar skills.
5. Owners: please keep active! I like to see lots of posts in your Computer Panels, it makes me happy.
6. You CANNOT sell a Jedi you own. If you don't want it, we'll find it a Caretaker who'll be happy to have it. You can request a person to replace Caretakership to, however.

Auction Rules
1. Bidding will always start at 10k (10 000g).
2. Auctions tend to last for five days. No bids will be considered after the auction has been ended.
3. Bidding within the last 10 minutes of the auction will result in a 10 minute extension of the auction. If there is a bid placed within those ten minutes, another 10 minutes is added. This is to prevent snipping.
4. Be nice, treat the bidders with respect.
5. People are allowed to bid for you, or add to your bid. Neither you nor they have to ask permission.
6. Items will be accepted, but will be priced at the value of the low STAR.
7. Jedi can be co-owned. Please see rules on co-owning.

Flat Sale Event Rules
1. Flat sales will cost 10k.
2. Follow the rules for the specific event that will be posted on the Event thread.
3. Buying for another person is not allowed.

Training Attributes & Skills
This is the most basic and easiest to learn of all the training, and you don't need a Master present to obtain them. You can only do training for two (in total) skills and attributes per Training session. Only one training section per week.

Simply access your Computer Panel and create a Training Entry.

See The Archives for a list of the Attributes and Skills, and information on each.

Training Entry

Submitted: <Insert Entry Date>
Areas Training Specifies: <Insert Selected Attributes and/or Skills>

Learning Force Powers
Training Force Powers requires RP training with a Master present. No Force Powers can be trained until your Jedi has reached the rank of Padawan, for their powers probably aren't stable enough to sustain them. Some powers can't be reached until reaching (Dark) Jedi Knight, or even a fully fledged Jedi/Sith.

There are three types of Force Powers. Universal Powers have no effect on a Student's alignment, but Light Side and Dark Side Powers tend to steer a Jedi (or Sith) onto their named path. However, it also depends on the situation the Power's used in.

Only one Force Power can be trained per month, with a maximum of fifteen Force Powers per Student. Please contact a Master for Force Power training.

See The Archives for a list of the available Force Powers. Contact a Master for information on each.

Code of the Jedi

There is no emotion,
there is peace
There is no ignorance,
there is knowledge
There is no passion,
there is serenity
There is no chaos,
there is harmony
There is no death,
there is the Force.

Code of the Sith

Peace is a lie,
There is only passion
Through passion,
I gain strength
Through strength,
I gain victory
Through victory,
my chains are broken
The Force shall set me free.

Ranks

Apprentice:
The Apprentice is the lowest rank of Jedi, finished their initial training of basic knowledge of the Force on Coruscant and moved to Gaia to begin the real work. As an Apprentice, they're taught deeper knowledge of Jedi history, the way of the Light Side, and better control of their powers. Too young and too unstable in their strengths, they are forbidden from learning any Force Powers outside of basic telekinesis. They also train in basic combat with practice vibroblades.

Padawan (Choice of Jedi Class):
Finally, your Student has earned the right to carry their first Lightsaber! Plus, they get to choose their Class. Not only that, but the most basic of Force Powers have become available to learn! Isn't it exciting? Most Students in this stage are in or near to their teenage years. Hormones play a part, crushes start to kick in, and the Dark Side of the Force becomes more tempting...

Jedi Knight:
A real Jedi! Thus far, your Student has managed to not stray (too much) from the path of the Light Side. More Force Powers become available to the Student's learning, and their powers are becoming much more stable and powerful. But don't stay too confident... the temptations of the Dark Side can strike at any time.

Dark Jedi Knight:
Generally the same as the Jedi Knight in the ways of training, but the difference is... your Student has fallen to the temptations of Dark power! Whether it be a troubled past crashing down on them or just teenage angst, remember: there is always a chance for redemption.

Attributes
List of attributes and definitions was found at GameBanshee.com

Strength (Str)
Represents physical power. A high Strength improves one's to melee damage and chance to hit, which is important for characters who use close-combat weapons (vibroblades, lightsabers).

Dexterity (Dex)
Represents agility and reflexes. A high Dexterity improves one's ranged attacks (blasters) and increases a character's Defense, making them harder to hit.

Constitution (Con)
Represents health and resiliency. A high Constitution increases one's vitality substantially. This is important for all characters and classes, but essential for soldiers and Jedi guardians.

Wisdom (Wis)
Represents willpower and perception. A high Wisdom increases one's Jedi Force Powers. The Force Powers of a Jedi with high Wisdom are also much harder to resist.

Intelligence (Int)
Represents knowledge and reasoning. A high Intelligence improves one's usage of essential Skills.

Charisma (Cha)
Represents personality and the ability to lead. A high Charisma improves one's Force-related feats and powers that are very important to all the Jedi classes. It is also central to any persuasive talker.

Skills
List of Skills and definitions was found at GameBanshee.com

Awareness
Related Attribute: Wisdom
Awareness governs the ability of a character to spot objects or enemies hidden by Stealth. Awareness is always active, but results are while the character is moving slowly.

Computer Use
Related Attribute: Intelligence
Computer Use allows a character to slice computer programs using disposable logic rams called computer spikes. A character might disable gun turrets or flood a patrol area, with more complicated tasks requiring more spikes. A high rank in this skill reduces the number of spikes required.

Demolitions
Related Attribute: Intelligence
Demolitions can be used to set, recover or disarm mines. Such devices are either of low, medium or high difficulty. Attempting to disarm mines is hard, but attempting to retrieve them is harder and much more dangerous. This skill cannot be used untrained.

Persuade
Related Attribute: Charisma
Having a high count in Persuade points could be considered very useful, especially to Jedi. With this skill a character may be able to acquire information that a person may otherwise be reluctant to reveal. However, a guard might easily agree to increase a bounty, but convince him to leave his post would be much harder.

Repair
Related Attribute: Intelligence
Repair allows a character to fix disabled mechanical devices like droids using disposable packages of parts. The number of part kits required increases with the difficulty of the repair. A high rank in this skill reduces the number of parts required.

Security
Related Attribute: Wisdom
Security is used to access electronic locking devices such as ones on doors and containers. The higher rank of skill, the higher chance of success in unlocking a door. However there will always be some locks to just never be opened. This skill cannot be used untrained.

Stealth
Related Attributes: Dexterity
Stealth governs the use of camouflage devices to enter Stealth Mode. If a character equips such a device and activates the Mode, opponents must make an Awareness check versus the character's Stealth skill or be unable to detect them, even if the character is in a direct line of sight. Combat cancels this mode. Stealth Mode will not work without a camouflage unit. Units of higher quality grant a bonus to the skill.

Treat Injury
Related Attributed: Wisdom
Points into Treat Injury will improve a character's ability to use the limited supplies in a medpac. This applies to advanced medpacs and life support packs as well.

Lightsaber Forms
Information found on GameBanshee.com and the Lightsaber Combat Wikipedia artical.

Form I: Shii-Cho
A defensive style that is ideal when heavily outnumbered.

Form II: Makashi
This form was specifically developed to combat other lightsaber users.

Form III: Soresu
A defensive style developed by the Jedi specifically to counter blaster weapons.

Form IV: Ataru
Best against a single opponent and is especially weak against blaster fire.

Form V: Shien / Djem So
An aggressive form that does not sacrifice protection from blaster fire. It is most effective when facing blaster-wielding opponents or when outnumbered. Least effective against a single foe.

Form VI: Niman
Attempts to balance all elements of lightsaber combat, combining the Forms that came before into a less intensely demanding combat style. The result is that the users' skill in each individual areas of lightsaber combat is only moderate.

Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad
A very precarious fighting style that is best against single powerful opponents.

Ah! Welcome to the Equipment Emporium! We've got a good selection, yes? Good good prices, none better! Nope, none. Luck be with you if you try finding better, yes.

You like to see blasters, yes? Short ones? Very popular. Yes, popular indeed. Very very popular... You buy? We gots many many short blasters in many many colours. Good, yes? But may nots for you? Long blasters, maybe... but costs more, they do...

Long blasters good, 'specially for much ranged fightings.

But maybe melee weapons intrest you? Vibroswords and blades, we... oh, we haves none. Out of metal, we are. It good metal, cannot get it on punny Gaia planet. Must order from planet fars away, but shipment has not come in, and has been due for longs time. Is the problems in dealing with Hutts, never do it okay? Is bad idea...

User ImageMaster Jadi Hassin:
Hello there! Hee hee... wondering why a Jedi's behind the desk at a Questing station? Well, because if I didn't, that slime Radrak would have, and they wouldn't have been very good for the people of Gaia, I'll tell you that. It's no good to deal with Hutts.

You're allowed to take on one quest a month, because we want to save some for everyone. Just send me notice you want one, and we'll get word to you about what it is as soon as we can.

The big quests, for the Jedi of the Academy, like ones you need to need to move up in rank? Those will be handed out by the Masters themselves, you won't be able to get them here. The Masters will decide when you're ready for such tasks.

There's no prices for quests, just lots of paperwork.

That's all I can say! Good luck and good questing!

User Image

{ Bounty Office }

User Image

User ImageRadrak (Hutt):
Ha ha! Quests not exotic enough for you? Bounty hunting is a real sport, full of excitement, not like questing... questing is for peace-keeping ninies! Damned Jedi...

Anyway, if you want to start hunting you have to send a message- addressed to me- to Kyros. Why? Because there was a lot of resistance in putting up this bounty office, and Kyros wants to make sure it isn't some conspiricy to overthrow the Academy. All messages from you to me go through him. He doesn't understand that bounties are put on evil, evil men! Well, most are evil anyway...

But they'll be considered evil if enough gold is involved, am I right? right? Hah! I kill myself...

Yup, so send me the message- through Kyros- that you want a bounty to hunt down and I'll assign you one. They're free, and we'll give you whatever price has been placed on the bounty when you collect.

'Scuse me, is there somewhere you'd like to go? Off Gaia, I mean... This is the space port, ships and stuff, to take you off Gaia and into the rest of the galaxy.

... Yeah, I know that look. A lot of people here have never been off-world. Kind of sad, really... out of all the planets I've seen, though Gaia is full of nice people, it rates pretty low of the technical scale. No offence or anything, that's just the way it is. Gaia isn't even a part of the Republic, pretty back-water.

So you want to get off this hunk of rock? Any ship who's willing to take passangers has been registered here with the price their charging as they dock. The prices support an all-around trip, there and back. That includes fees for meals, board and docking fees on your arriving planet... unfortunately, a lot of the ship owners are greedy and will charge you extra anyway. They're willing to take you anywhere, however.

More ships will be willing to take you in the future as more and more dealers are finding investing in Gaia's transport program to be promising. A lot of people here really want to see new things, considering they've been stuck here for most of their lives.

The Golden Eclipse is my ship, by the way. I'm very proud of her, she lasts and lasts and I haven't had more then minor problems.

The Silver Dart's a real rip-off, though. It may be a very classy ship, but it's run by Radrak the Hutt, maybe you've heard of him? He finds loopholes in all his promises and probably'll have you sleeping in a crate by the time you actually get to your destination.

Contact me through Kyros if you want to head out on a journey. With the rumour of Sith on Gaia the Jedi want to be careful no one's sneeking in.

Anyway, safe travels!
