This thread is for a challenge--a summer book challenge. You'll have from June 1st to August 31st to finish The Bible. Now, I'm not trying to push my religion on you, but I think this a book fit for a summer reading--it's long, and there are good, moral values taught in it. There are 2 days unaccounted for during this period. Take these as days off, or a day to catch up on missed reading. This is a very rigorous schedule, as it covers about 11 chapters a day. Some of these chapters may get VERY repetitive, as the Book of Numbers is a lot of genealogy. At Day 67, if you are still with us, you will receive a prize (in gold or items). Everyone who makes it to the end will receive gold for doing a great job and sticking with the plan. Please don't take this as a bribe to read The Bible, but as a good-job-you-did it! sort of thing ^_^
Procedure:
Follow the plan above. Each day, read what is outlined above, and if you'd like, come discuss it on this thread. I'll try to be here to answer any questions about the reading. You can choose to read more or less, but after each week, I will check with everyone to see if they're keeping with the plan. If you aren't keeping up (within a day or so), then you have dropped out of the prize competition. However, I encourage you to keep reading at your own pace. Check-ups will be done through PM (or AIM, if you prefer.)
Which Bible should I use?:
I suggest reading an NIV or NAS Bible, and if you can get your hands on one, a study Bible.
Accepting:
NIV/NIV Study Bible
NAS/NAS Study Bible
NKJ Bible
Study Bibles made for teens (not for easy reading, but for the applications written in them. )
Not accepting:
Children's Bibles, because they take away from the meaning of the Bible and are only for story value.
Costs:
Each person will send 100g to me to enter this competition. Half of the accumulated entrance fees will be given out equally to everyone still participating at the Old Testament/New Testament switch (day 67), and the other half will be given out when we have all finished The Bible. The "official" celebration day will be August 31st, even there are two "missing" days.
