With the gypsies gone, who would be around to entertain? The University nearby decided to deal with this dilemma. They gathered around them students, alumni, parents, and community members; anyone that would be willing to help them out. They brainstormed, and it was the Winter Carnival that won the most votes. It would have many booths hosted by volunteers and run over the time period of one day – sunrise to midnight.
User Image

Previously, there was a sign-up for Heralds and their Guardians to run a booth. Each booth will run for about 24 hours OOC. In character, they would only last minutes. We have a schedule, and with it there are some open days. As of yet, what is going on during those times is unknown, we will either ask a Herald Guardian to host another or we may just have them open for something else.

+ How the Booths will Work +
There will be a post by the Host to open up their booth. In that post they will submit all their directions in as much detail as possible. Some of them may include actions to be taken with the post, some want art done with it. NO MATTER WHAT IT IS, YOU MUST ROLE-PLAY WHAT YOUR CHARACTER IS DOING. This is a RP event, and if you do not RP, then you cannot be judged for the prizes.

Note: If a volunteer is not present for their booth date, they will either be rescheduled to an open date or cancelled. It will depend on availability.

These two booths are continously open until the end of the event

Booth Name: Opening
Volunteer(s): Herald Mule

Directions: All you simply have to do is walk up to the 'Ticket' Booth and pick up tickets. RP it however you like. If you do not stop here for the 'tickets', it will be simply assumed that you grabbed them before. They are not required to participate in the games.
Prize: None... and this will NOT be judged, but everyone who posts will get a point for participating with this 'booth' This booth DOES NOT end until the last day. Think of this as a free point. You can respond to this RP Booth at any time, but you can only do it once.

Opening RP: The professor sat on his stool, looking out as people passed by. He thrummed his fingertips on the counter. He was the 'Ticket' Master. The 'tickets' were free and actually looked like a coin of some kind, but needed for the booth games. To him, the idea was crazy; why have them if you don't pay for them? Someone else told him it was so they could keep track of the booth participants.... but that could have been easily done with a piece of paper and pencil.

He sighed. Piles of the coin-tickets were on the counter. People could come up and grab them as the like; he didn't have to interact with them. The professor's only job this day was to make sure the piles were always there.

Booth Name: Refreshments
Volunteer(s): Herald "Mule"
Directions: There is a booth of all kinds of refreshments. All you have to do is go to it and eat, drink, and be merry. Make up what is on the table, assume everything is there that you see at a carnival. This includes cotton candy, mini donuts, cheese curds, popcorn, etc.
Prize: This is like the Ticket Booth. You automatically get a point for posting, but it will not be judged for extra points.

Opening RP: Gah! They made him get out of his ticket booth.... but he liked his ticket booth. It was easy and didn't require a lot of work. This time, though, he had to do something a little more difficult.

He gathered around him some other volunteers, and they made up a string of booths around some tables. They were giving away free food and drinks. All anyone had to do was come up and ask for them.

That done, he went back to his ticket booth, just in case more people were still arriving.

Remember, the sign-up had only very basic rules as to what must be done to host a booth. Just remember, this is an RP event. While you can have winners for your Booth IC, based on the roll of the dice or the quality of the art, you must judge all those that participate with your booth based on RP as well.

+ Opening the Booth +
It will be the volunteer's responsibility to open up their own booth. You are not required to stay the whole day and babysit your booth, though. If you have it set up, you can leave it and give the RPers free reign to RP at the booth. Please follow this form to open your booth.

While you may have your own ideas on what makes a good RP post, these are the things that we ask you to look at the most.
1. Grammar – this is role-playing, and correct grammar is crucial. Spell-check is great and we prefer it is used. When judging this, little mistakes if made once in awhile is okay, but if it is consistent then take that into consideration.
2. Creativity – how creative is their writing. Extreme exaggeration isn't what we mean. With creativity, we mean how does the RPer respond to their results of the game. For some of the art contests, this may be harder, but use your best judgement.
3. Consistency – this means how consistent they are with their character. If their character is supposed to be quiet or shy, it wouldn't make sense if they ran around shouting and kissing strangers –unless there was another factor like alcohol. Use clues they post in their RP to try and determine the character's type and then how they build on to that with the character's actions.
NOTE: Do NOT determine the judged winner by the results of the booth's competetition. There can be an IC winner based on art, randomizing, or rolling dice; but those do not reflect the winner of your RP booth.

+ How to Send the Results +
Well, first you have to open your event. After your 24hours, another will open. This is the time that you can start judging. In order to be as fair as possible with so many different judges, use this form and send it to Herald when you are done. DO NOT JUDGE OWNERS

Now, the perks for the Owners who decide to participate in this event. We tried to be as fair as possible. You can get up to two (2) RP playdates completed.

First Way –
…is to host a booth. By hosting, that means you have to open and judge according to what has been detailed above. You can interact as well, but it is not required. You have to have signed up for this before the booth occurs. If there are openings, you can still sign up as long as it is before the day it occurs.

Second Way –
…is to participate at the booths. This means that you still have to follow all the rules laid down by the volunteer. You can only get one RP playdate completed this way, and you have to participate in at least six (6) of the booths.

This is probably what most of you have been waiting for…. What do you get if you WIN the event? Well, I will tell you. There will be TWO winners, and they will win a premade adult Herald. Two is strange, wouldn't you agree? Well, that is part of the surprise.

These two Heralds will be unique and never offered again. This is because your cannot obtain their like in any way – not via auction, flatsale, raffle, or anything else. What is so strange about them? Well, these Heralds are TWINS! They have the same sacrifice… and not only that, they grew up only with each other. No gaian gave them their sacrifice. There story is told in the next post.

It was a blizzard, and the two Fallen Angels were having a difficult time finding a place to land. Their messages were sent to a pair of lovers. Almost immediately, they could feel themselves dying as all heralds did when their mission was complete. They decided to stay together, in the hopes that at least one of them would find a way to survive. Unforunately, the snow made it difficult to see. As their wings fell apart, they clung to each other for support. Finally, they could no longer fly and had to painfully soar to the ground, where they chanced to find an opening in the trees.

The twins were walking together in the snow storm. They had become separated from the herd awhile ago. No matter how much they called out, there was no answer. But, at least they had each other, just as the always had. You see, these two were different. They did not have the usual brown eyes and soft brown fur of other caribou. Instead they were born with fur more pure white than snow and eyes as red as blood. In the summer, they had difficulty hiding and staying alive. They depended on the herd for survival. In the winter, though, they thrived.

Two white caribou entered the clearing just as two more forms crashed into the ground. The twins flinched, and stepped back with flaring nostrils. They waited, curious. It seemed that the threat wasn't going to hurt them. The female stepped forward first. She walked until she was close to the two huddled forms. Hooves stepped into something strange. Dropping her nose, the female sniffed the ground, and reared her head back at the scent of blood. It wasn't snow that was on the ground here, but so many feathers! She looked back, her eyes meeting the red gaze of her brother. He walked up to stand beside her and then the two continued until they were standing right atop the two forms lying on the snow with feathers and blood surrounding them.

One of the Heralds looked up, and saw the red eyes of…. A reindeer? With a silent wail, the Herald closed its eyes to the pain of its dying. They had failed. There were no people around, and because of that they would die. The cold was seeping in, it let it take over. When the herald at its side moved, the herald opened its eyes once again and watched in surprise.

Its companion was sitting up, arms around the head of the caribou that supported it. Tears were running down its face as it stroked the side of the head of the female twin. Both closed their eyes as the snow swirled around them. The Herald's hair floated around and then…. The two gone.

The remaining Herald and the brother caribou looked to each other in shock. The Herald in disbelief and the brother in dismay. How was that possible? A sacrifice had to be given, and it didn't seem that there was one. As the herald tried to sit up painfully, it watched the only other creature in the clearing. Finally, it was balanced, though it swayed in its pain and weakness. Meanwhile, it was trying to figure out what had happened. Its thoughts were interrupted when the male reindeer came forward to nuzzle the herald's hair. The decision was made, and finally they too disappeared. He had figured it out, and like his sister he was more than happy to give it up:

The Ultimate Sacrifice – his life.

-Rules-
+ Tickets cost 100g each.
+ Send trade to Herald with the title something like: "Raffle - # tickets".
+ Do NOT post your tickets in the thread
+ Numbers cannot be reserved, they will be allocated according to the trades
+ All trades must be completed before the numbers are drawn.
+ You can buy tickets for friends only as long as they have either participated in a Booth RP and/or have bought at least one ticket themselves. This is only so we know the person is interested in a Herald. If you are buying tickets for a friend, state that in the title as well.
+ Two numbers will be drawn. The first winner will get the first choice, and the second person will get the other.
+ You can still only own one Herald. If a raffle winner would like to wait for the results from the RP Event, they will announce that after their number is drawn. By doing so, they do NOT lose the raffle Herald if they do not win the RP Event. If they do, then a new number will be redrawn.

If my Herald is not a Messenger Reborn yet, can I get the credit for that stage?
- Yes! You will still get credit.

Will the current points be posted for all to see?
- Not sure yet, that will be decided upon soon.

How are the winners determined?
- The raffle winners will be randomized. The Event winners will depend on the placings as judged by the volunteers. Everyone who participates will get one point, and the first place will get three more; second will get two; and third will get one. Whoever has the most points at the end will get first pick, etc.

Can I win twice?
- No. You can only have one Herald. If you happen to win the RP Event and the Raffle, you will have to choose one.

Can I just post in the thread?
- We prefer IC posting only, but feel free to post OOC as well, but somehow differentiate so we know you are not RPing. This can be done with [ ] or (( )) or < > or something…
