Cranes for peace:
After the bombings in Hiroshima, during World War II, a young girl, Sadoko Sasaki, had been diagnosed with leukemia caused by radioactivity from the bomb. As she sat in her hospital bed, she began folding paper cranes out of anything she could find, from newspaper to the wrappers on her medicine bottles. The amazing thing about Sadoko’s story is that she was folding, not only for herself, but in hopes to heal the world. Over the past 50 years, the paper crane has become a world wide symbol for peace.
We would like to take this symbol of hope and peace and use it to draw attention to the need for peace in our world today. Our beginning goal is to get 1,000 paper cranes folded and signed, and, if possible, we hope to increase the collection over time. Would you please be a part of this project in search of world peace?
If you want to help:
Please simply make a post saying so; I will then write your screen name on the crane. If you would like to, you could post your real name, age and/or your location (country, state, or city) and that information would also be added. If you know someone that would also like to sign and just doesn’t have an account at this forum, you can post their information for them and I will add them to the list.
