Welcome to Gaia! ::

O.G. Tycoon

I reenter my katanas in the mp and I immediately get 2 people pretending to be mods saying I'm hacking people and they are demanding I give them my password.
I check their profiles, one has an account 2 days old and the other is 2 years old. Of course I report them, I've done it before but I've never gotten a written responce from any real mods. I pm the older account and ask him why he risks his account for such a lame scam. He replys that my account will be banished rolleyes
I get these pms several times a day with my other mules.

Do you think its a small group of people or a growing trend to try to scam?
Do you think it's serious or just stupid?
Are the mods doing anything and just not letting us know, or is there a huge slush pile of growing scammers and hackers?

Anyone who pretends to be a mod should recieve no mercy.

But I saw a board yesterday, with someone displaying a PM they recieved from a scammer. The one about the beta-testing. Anyway, a few people said that they might've fallen for that.

Well, some people see those posts and immediately go to try it. Of course, that incident alone hasn't caused millions of scammers to come out of hiding. It was just an example. -nod-

I've never gotten a scam PM and I hope I never do. xD 'Cause in the end, I might get banned for using too much caps lock. gonk

Wow. I'll never understand scammers, it's like they were born with a few screws loose. I'm sure the moderators are doing whatever they can to take care of the problem, but I fear there shall always be at least one scammer out there.

@_@ At least many users aren't foolish enough to fall for these crap tricks. Also, there are so many scam attempts a day that I don't think it's possible for just one small group of people to be doing it. Although I'm sure there is some little weird group of people who plot against the happy users of Gaia. *shakes a fist*

Why the Hell can't scammers get a clue? The only people who tend to fall for those most of the time are newbies who don't have much.
Usually if you have afford a good avatar, you've been around long enough to know better than to pass around your password.

I don't get the ones that only ask for your trade history though. :/

So why would they need trade history?

Cool a mod, question for you:
Do you think it's a small group of the same people or is it a growing trend?
I've noticed that 95% of them use the same tactics: new account, no seeable avatar, mod speech.

The account that was 2 years old was an anomaly.

ps thanks for posting your opinions
I get those quite often now as well, its been happening more and more days after I bought my demonic pendant. Thing is they use the same copy and paste to try and scam me. I think I replyed to one of their PM's with the ORLY owl as well.
