Welcome to Dark Forest Tavern!
The tavern is located just off the main road through the Dark Forest, a proving ground for adventurers of all class, alignment, and realm. From Final Fantasy spell casters looking to level up to casual role-players just looking for fun and D&D Clerics questing for an angelic staff, there is room for everything and everyone.
Carved into the front door are the rules, you must touch them to gain entry.
1) Minimal Chat/Net-speak.
2) No page stretching.
3) This is roleplay - if you want to talk about real life events you must play as if those events happened to your character, or your character read about them in a newspaper or something.
4) No God-Modeing.
5) Follow the TOS - including the signature size limits. Sofia does signature re-sizing for 100g per signature. (no matter how many images I'm squishing.)
NPCs: (controllable by all staff)
Darren is a six foot tall wood elf employed by Sofia. He is always immaculate, but don't let the metrosexual attitude fool you - he's an ex-ranger with considerable strength. He handles men like Mr. Buggerman, whose tab had to be collected by force. He also helps wait tables.
Cook, who goes by no other name, isn't seen out of the kitchen unless something drastic happens. She is apparently Darren's mother and, therefore, must be a wood elf, but good luck trying to see her to confirm that fact. She opens the outside window while she works no matter what the weather and relies on a spell to keep the weather out of the food, but her skills at spell casting aren't as good as her skills as a cooking.

Employee Training, for those interested:
OK, so you've been hired for a job at a Gaia Commerce Thread. Now what? Well, the idea is simple: people hire others to work in their threads so that the thread will be open and active more hours out of the week. Your job is to post in the Tavern when the owner is not around, thus keeping the thread bumped to the top of the list. However, in the commerce forum blatant bumping is discouraged and many people won't post in a thread with 'bump' posts. You are also charged with bringing in new faces, serving the needs of the customer, and keeping things tidy. Finally, there is the time card issue. So what exactly do you do?

Bumping without bumping: GC is a roleplay forum, so that is exactly what you would do: roleplay a bartender! Make up NPC 'regulars' that are eating, drinking, ordering, chatting, and doing other non-interesting things in the background. They don't need names unless you want to have one or two do something more interesting like get in a fist fight or fall over drunk. Even then, just saying "one of the regulars slumps over in his chair from too much beer and falls under the table" is good enough.

Bring in new people: The best way is the signature image. Just leave it there and go about your regular habits. Post in other threads as you normally would: not every day on Gaia has to be a 'work day' for your character. It gives you something to say when you walk into another place "I'm just killing time on my day off" and frankly, I'd get sick of the place if I had to be there 24/7. Posting in non-RPG forums with the signature image on is also a big help, as it increases visibility. I request that you keep your signature visible in your profile if you decide to change it's style. You can not be let go for failure to bring in new people, so no pressure here!

Serving the customer: If someone asks for a drink, get it. If someone wants food, fill the order. If someone asks for the 'special,' make one up. The kitchen is enchanted. Just hit the bell, call the order, and a tray will appear in the window to the kitchen. The bar has everything, but if the order is odd you might have to rummage around. Most of all: Have fun with it!

Keeping things clean: I'm not talking about your character sweeping up, though that is a good 'bump' tactic or a way to signal to others that you have to go in the next half-hour and are planning on closing the bar. (Depending on the way you phrase it). I'm talking about knowing the TOS, the rules of the forum, the rules of the thread, and making sure those who come to the tavern adhere to them. This means following them yourself, for starters. People often take cues from the staff, so if the staff is talking l33t then the customers follow. Please spell things nice as you can, we're not grammar Nazis, but it's not a chatterbox haxxor fest either. If someone is being a real pain, include a note on your time card about then (include EXACT spelling of the user name) and I can add them to the blacklist on the front page.

Time card: Being paid is what you really want to know about, right? OK, here's the easy way to do it. When you want to work open a second window and start a new PM in it. In the other window go to the Tavern and note the page number. In the first window type in the page number into the body of the PM. Use whatever subject line you want. Don't send it yet! Minimize the PM window and go to work. When you are done for the day note the page number you ended on and go back to the PM window you had open this whole time. So long as you have crossed 2 pages you will get paid for that day's work. (with customers that isn't much, without it can take a while). Then send the PM to me. Sample time card:
