Over the Course of the past two nights (november 28-20th, 2005) I've gotten 13 invitations to join a guild, from a single person. I have absolutely no interest to join a guild, and looked and looked for a way to block the invitations from being sent. The problem: there is no way.
I added him to my ignorelist and it did nothing, I asked for help in the Q&A subforum and they said it wasn't posible - so logically I came to the feedback forum to suggest a feature like it be installed. What was I told? "This has already been brought up"
This isn't right or fair! People are being spammed through the guilds system (we've even "brought it up" to the feedback people!), the poor moderators, who are already busiy handling countless other problems are burdened yet powerless to help us, and spammers are getting away with spamming... and it all can be fixed with one feature!
Add a "No Guild Invitations" Checkbox to your profile!
It would work just like the "no friend requests" Checkbox, only it prevents automatic sending of mail from guilds instead of the friendlist system. You can still join guilds, it's just people won't pester you into joining!
Sometimes this also happens in reverse...
Add a "Do not accept new members" Checkbox to guilds!
Guild Leaders at times are bombarded with requests from ONE PERSON to join, and these people won't stop even after they were asked to! Sometimes the spamming comes from people begging to join a guild that says clearly in the front page that the guild is HIDDEN and is supposed to be for the guild captain's FRIENDS ONLY! The Moderators can do nothing, and putting the offenders on the ignore list does nothing. The "Ban" option only keeps out people who were allowed to join, people who have not been added yet can not be prevented from spamming guild leaders with "requests to join"! Once again, all we need is a little checkbox and it's all fixed!
This one will go under the Moderator Panel in guilds as something for Captains to be able to check and un-check. When someone tries to join a guild that has decided not to allow new join requests, they will get a "Sorry! That guild is full!" message.
These two simple changes would help Gaians and Moderators breathe so much easier while further stopping spammers! All we need to do is show them how much we want them.
