Welcome to probably the ONLY Clock Tower thread on Gaia!

...And if there is, I'm sorry.

Yes, I'm finally able to make a topic about my long-lived obsession.

For those of you who don't know, Clock Tower is a series of games made by Human Entertainment in the late SNES and early PSOne days, back when Point-and-Click horror games were fashionable in the eyes of gamers (which have now been replaced by the Fragging Years...the FPS phenomenon). You play as a young girl running away from a horrid serial killer, and you have to use everything at your disposal to hide, beat, or just plain run away from danger, and try to figure out how to stop the killer for once and for all. You play as a different girl depending on the game, but the mechanics are pretty much the same.

There were three titles brought out in the Human Years--

Clock Tower (SNES--a remake for the PSOne was made called Clock Tower: The First Fear. The "First Fear" remastered version of this game was also released on Windows 95/98 and Wonderswan)

Clock Tower 2 (PSX, also known as Clock Tower in America...the first CT game to be released in the states)

Clock Tower: Ghosthead (PSX, and called Clock Tower: The Struggle Within in America. Unlike what I previously thought, the game suffered from bad dialogue with a decent if not really close English translation (Not counting the names and places), but the game was harder and really fun nonetheless).

Then Capcom brought out the (most likely) most well-known release, Clock Tower 3 (Unsure what they called it in Japan). It was no longer Point-and-Click, and it was more of an RE game than anything else (I don't know how they managed to even pull that off. I hated the game, but then again, I'm a Human Entertainment Purist). But there were some neat easter eggs from the other games, and it was fun to point them out (the fast piano theme from the first area was first played in Clock Tower: Ghosthead, in the eldest daughter's bedroom in the first scenario).

But feel free to talk in here about anything Clock Tower...After all, that's what this forum is for. ^_^

Spread the Clock Tower love!
I've only played the original Clock Tower for the SNES, but I absolutely loved it! It was great that there were so many different endings, and the kid always seemed to be in a different place waiting to jump out...
XD YES!

The only problem I had with the SNES version was that the Scissorman encounters weren't random, but they were random enough for me to take off the headphones and not even listen to the music while playing the first time through. The game scared the bejeezus out of me, and still does even now.

I've never been able to look at showers the same way again...I have to peek behind the curtain still, because at our house my parents love to pull back the curtains to my bathtub/shower...
I distinctly remember bracing myself for the kid to jump out from behind a curtain or something on my second play... and then... he never jumped out. So I was like, "oh, okay then", and then right when I had stopped bracing myself for the scare, he jumped down from some broken boards in the ceiling!

I think that's what happened, anyway. It's been a long time since I've played it... oh, yes, and I also remember playing it one time, and getting snipped right in the elevator before the end scene. XD
A Clock Tower Thread!? You are a goddess.
Ahhh...yes. I remember going through that too. Did you get all the endings?

...And did you figure out where to find the West Wing Key in the offchance that it's not in the box in the TV room? I can't seem to find the "Nest Hallway" that's supposed to have it.

^_^ And I'm glad that you're happy with the thread, Mr. Kennedy. XD
I got most of the endings, but I have no idea where the key is. I can barely remember anything about the game besides random memories of particular moments. XD
Ah. XD

I've played the CT games so much that I practically have them memorized...The first PSOne release the most so. In Ghosthead I'm having trouble getting out of the hospital (the only part I really have trouble with...I only have 5 endings left to get, and the Hospital always adds about 2 hours to my game time each time I play through the game).

It makes me depressed. ;-;
I first played CT:3. Which scared me. A lot. eek Well, until Ralph and Jemima showed up. Then it just got silly. D:

And I've tried to play the original SNES. But it's scary. I need to get one of my friends to sit beside me and hold my hand while I play that game. Scissorman freaks me out.
Yes, but that's what makes Scissorman so awesome. His form on the PSOne sequel made him look more igor-ish though, and I think his more childish form in the SNES version was scarier.

...Though I still get REALLY scared of the PSOne release. I guess it's because it was the first one I've played, but that scissorman has more of a scar on my memory than the SNES one.

Ralph and Jemima were just stupid, in my opinion. Then again, I wasn't much of a fan of CT 3 for one of the main reasons that they tried to connect the games together (At least, that's what I got the impression of. Didn't do a good job though, in my opinion. As a standalone story it would have been more tolerable, but sticking the Barrows--not Burroughs...they misspelled it >.<--family into it just hacked me off).

But I digress.

I understand what you mean about being scared of the SNES one though...I had to turn the music down so I wouldn't get paranoid. Silence never bodes well with me. ^_^()
