A rant geared for a different audience.
There are a number of people that are outspoken against 4kid's Entertainment's detractors, many of which are also supporters of people that don't like anime stating their opinion. They parade around chanting, "people are entitled to their own opinion," but when presented with people that dislike 4kids, some of them act like whiny 10 year old girls, especially when it is intelligent people that dislike 4kids. So why is one group of people more entitled to their opinion than another?
"If you don't the dub for Tokyo Mew Mew/Naruto/One Piece, go buy the DVDs!" The DVDs aren't out yet. Duh. Many people are upset over how slow the DVDs for Shaman King and YuGiOh are being released, and they don't even have subtitles, just a Japanese language track and close captioning.
"What's wrong with Naruto's dub voice, it's just as whiny as his Japanese voice." Two voices may share similar qualities, but it's impossible for them to be exactly the same, especially when they are speaking completely different languages. Some people may be hearing different qualities in the voice than you; I'm sure you've all been in a situation when you thought a person resembled another person, but someone else disagreed with you.
"Removing _____, _______ and ________ doesn't change the story." There are more elements than plot to any work of fiction. Any time any edit, no matter how small is added, it changes the way the work of fiction is perceived. That's not to say some edits aren't necessary to be geared for the same audience they were originally intended for, but it will undoubtedly, change people's impression of it.
Also, it's amusing when 4kid's supporters who say this are faced with examples of major story changes they did make.
"What happened to just being glad anime was on television at all?" There have always been people that have been upset over major changes made to anime, it's just the numbers are different.
"You're not a kid so it doesn't matter what you think!" You can't stop people from having opinions. People form them every time they come in contact with them, and you can't stop them from expressing them.
There are plenty of n00bs that spam the forum with their flames against 4kids, that doesn't been all people that dislike 4kids are unwashed n00bs. There are plenty of Inuyasha fans that are spammers and n00bs, but I've never heard someone be insulted by this group just because they like it.
Please note that Naruto is not dubbed by 4kids (it's Shopro people, Shopro,) but it was included because it's dubs detractors are often countered by the same group of people that support 4kids.
If you post s**t like "kill 4kids," I will report you for spamming.
