INTRODUCTION: //

Hello there, special spoOky greetings to all! Welcome to the first Shinzui holiday event. Seeing as Halloween is my favorite holiday (and also my kitty Milo's birthday) I thought it a good idea to celebrate in style with a whole bunch of fun Halloween themed events. Have a look through the various happenings below and see what tickles your fancy. The Trick OR Treat event will last from Oct. 9 - Oct. 31.

EXPLANATION: //

Create a Halloween themed haiku. It can be about anything having to do with the holiday.

Some ideas: Trick or treating, candy, ghosts, a haunted house, etc.

WHAT IS A HAIKU?: //

From Dictionary.com:

hai-ku
1. A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.
2. A poem written in this form.

From Japanvisitor.com:
Japanese poem consisting of three lines arranged in a syllable count of 5-7-5.

Here is my example:

Halloween candy (5)
in heavy pillowcases. (7)
Our arms ache with glee. (5)

See, it doesn't have to be complicated! Haikus will be judged on creativity, word selection, and theme.

SUBMISSIONS: //

Please submit all entries to me, Katsunori, in a PM. Feel free to post your haiku in the thread if you wish to show other people. You may submit more than 1, max of 5. There must be atleast 5 different people entered in order for winners to be chosen, if not the prizes will be forfeit and possibly entered in another event.

On October 16th a set of 7 riddles will be posted here, participants have until October 22nd at 11:59PM (Central) to PM their answers to me, Katsunori. At the end of the week I'll compile everyone's answers and see who has answered the most riddles correctly. If there is a tie between 2 or more people a winner will be selected using a random number generator.

There must be atleast 5 different people entered in order for winners to be chosen, if not the prizes will be forfeit and possibly entered in another event.

ANY QUESTIONS?: //

Q: Are all the answers Halloween themed?
A: I tried to find Halloween themed riddles but could only come up with a couple. The rest are very loosely based on Halloween, more like random spoOky stuff.

Q: Any incentives for early birds (or bats in this case)?
A: Everyone that submits their answers on either Sunday the 16th or Monday the 17th will be granted a BONUS. This means at the the end of the week when I compile your answers you'll be granted a BONUS mark on your total score of correct answers. So, the best possible score is 8/7. This also allows you to answer 1 incorrectly (or leave 1 blank) and still receive 7/7. Get those answers in early!!

THE RIDDLES: //

1: What falls but never breaks? NIGHT

2: I weaken all men for hours each day. I show you strange visions while you are away. I take you by night, by day take you back. None suffer to have me, but do from my lack. What am I? SLEEP

Use any (and I mean ANY) form of media to create a piece of Halloween themed art. A sketch, a painting, a sculpture, a pile of dead leaves shaped like a pumpkin... ANYTHING GOES! Submissions will be judged on creativity, quality, and effort. You may enter as many times as you like.

I've decided to host a FREE raffle!

Procedure & Rules:
1. Post in the thread that you'd like a ticket along with which pet you'd most like (you can simply put #1 for fairy princess, #2 for candy, #3 for ghost, #4 spider webby)
2. On October 31, I'll gather up everyone's request tickets and choose a winner for each pet
3. 4 tickets will be drawn using a random number generator
