Ariel

A small village in the hills, Ariel is home to a population of 600 240 (Due to the Massacre, among other things). Mostly farmers, ranchers, and a few workers that prefer not to live in nearby logging camps, up in the mountains.

A small, backwater place, the contents of the town is literally 200 homes, 4 bars, a general store, a post office, and a MagiTek Reactor plant.

Most of the homes are typical. Wood, no prefab homes, most of these are passed down from one generation to the next, nearly every home in town at least a 100 years old. Sturdy construction against the elements, though nothing against attack. Most homes are situated on at least 3 acres, which would be the homes of people that work at the store, bars, post office, or Reactor plant. Even these homes tend to have at least a dog, or a few other small animals on the property. Other homes tend to be situationed on 10-20 acres, with orchards, vegetable farms, dogs, horses, livestock, and so on, and so forth.

The bars are all typical of a small town. They're not the fortified buildings that can resist any sort of attack, like most bars in the city. No, most of these are all small, one floor, one room affairs. Pool, juke boxes, alcohol, none of those other bells and whistles.

The general store is much like the bar, two stories tall, the bottom floor being the shop, one long room, with shelves stocked with just about everything anyone would need for life. Other than booze. That's all at the bars. Guns, swords, food, clothes. The top floor is the storeroom.

The MagiTek Reactor is the only hard target in the village. Walls of reinforced concrete and steel, most of the building underground, with only a small dome upon the surface, the walls of which are several feet thick. This is where a lot of power for Ariel, and the Barton Metropolitan area is produced. Only 50 people in town, actually work at the Reactor. And most of them are in office positions, few know what lurk in the depths. They are told the reactor is Geothermal magic based. Who really knows though?

This thread is a literate battle thread. It was made for Magnolia Island, and the RP event going on there.
Champion, Sacrifice, Souls.

Champion, Sacrifice, Souls.

Champ, Sac, Souls.

Champ, Sac, Souls.

Lamp, Sack, Souls.

Damp lack souls.

Wet limp souls.

Er... that didn't make sense. Omega looked around, now on the outskirts of Ariel, having ploughed right through a simple wooden fence, and now standing among a herd of cattle. He was tall, big, huge, black entirely, covered in armor. It seemed as though he was made of living shadow. He had a single, orange dull eye, looking around at the cows. Brown cows, white cows, black cows, spotted cows. Lots of cows, everywhere.

Now what was the order again? Get a Lamp, a pure salt, and souls?

The man looked around. Nothing there like that.

Except souls.

The man smiled, his hand came up, a massive warhammer appeared in his grip, and downwards it swung, completely obliterating the cow, leaving only a blood smear upon the grass, and gore splattered over him, and the other cows.

Heh heh heh.

Then the rest of the cows fled, mooing like all hell.

"It went squish..."
Thump, thump, thump!

Three more souls. This was fun. Cows make good splatter spots.

It was in the middle of the herd, half down, and in the middle of his fun he heard a dog barking. The shadelord stopped, staring right at the dog in the distance, chained up to a tree, snapping its jaws and hopping to get a chance at the shade.

Soon, lights in the farmhouse came on. A man came out to check on the dog, taking the chain in hand, and unlatching it from the tree. Soon dog was leading, and the man with a shotgun in hand was barely holding it back as he went to look for the guy on his property.

"Probably them damned kid tippin' cows again..." the old man muttered, determined to scare the kids.

The shadelord watched with his dull orange eye.

"Doggie..."
The dog's chain slipped out. And in a moment, it pounced, razor sharp fangs ready to bite into Omega's leg. Of course, it never got the chance. The hammer came down, squishing the dog mid-flight.

Squishy...

The man ran forward, face aghast seeing the stain that was once his dog. He was too shocked to do anything, other than stand there, watching the hammer raise slowly, then.

Squish.

Omega smiled, at both the squish, and the feeling of a soul. A soul. Hmm, was one enough?

A child appeared in the doorway of the house, calling out "Pa! PA! Pa, where are you?!"

A few more couldn't hurt.
Soon, the voice was silenced, as the black figure stepped into the light, covered in blood, bovine, canine, and human. The hammer in his hands, impossibly large, but swung with just one of the giant's arm, "SQUISH!"

And then there was another small little stain. Another soul collected. There was a scream, another woman. Another stain, another soul. He stalked through the house, knocking over tables, chairs, and other furniture, knocking down walls. Finally, one last soul. A small boy. He stained the shade's hammer, and that was it.

The house fell around him, leaving one bloody shade standing in the ruins, and destruction all about him in the night.
Nothing...

They had followed a fellow shadelord here but had deviated off for their own amusement, finding a little seaside bit of the town. But what held the interest of the big smashy Lord held little for this one.

A lithe and delicate black arm stretched as if to yawn but there was no mouth, only a large deep purple eye where it's face should be. Enrobed in black, it was as if it was simply a void in space where a figure of a being should be. There was something odd though, it held mannerisms that despite it's lack of anatomy, that seemed almost...effeminate.

It slid more then moved towards the first house. "Come Nu, I think there might be some fun to be had here. If not, we'll entertain ourselves anyways."
Strange...how very strange...and boring.

There was something there behind the other Shadelord. Anyone who paid attention for more then a few seconds could tell. But what could it be was the mystery. A moving wall cutting a path through the darkness of night?

It became far more clear if the eyes got close enough. At close range it was hard to miss such details. This could have very well been Mu's shadow; it stuck close enough. It looked the part at least. The form hidden under a long coat - or was it a robe? - with a hood drawn high over the head and falling. A perfect blend of colors; dark on dark. Arms and hands were hidden deep beneath fabric if they even existed. Or perhaps they just faded from view?

Though the single all see'ing eye gave it away. It shot from side to side as if to take in everything. Could not miss anything - all details were important - pay close attention. Something moving? Its face appeared to ripple in the area where a mouth would be as if to erupt. At Mu's calling it stopped and the facial distortion faded back into nothingness...

'Fun at last.' It almost sounded bitter. The pace seemed to speed up from a lethargic pace as they approached. Could not be left behind; oh no.
A hollow sounding laughter emitting from the first figure of darkness before turning to it's partner and embracing and spinning till both were indistingishable and then just as suddenly where one was before, the other was now.

"Shall we pick or just enjoy the feast?"
The face contorted just enough for an expression. A smile in all of the darkness that was almost impossible to pick out. Unless you knew to look. At best it would have struck a cord of fear with the average person though. Shades were not meant to smile fiendishly.

"Pick of course. That is how a proper feast starts." Nu did not embrace back though. Just kind of stood with that freakish expression. Only one of them did that sort of thing.

Clank and its right arm finally parted from the fabric and became visible. The entire process only took a few seconds to complete. Firsta sphere of dark matter to appear in the hand. From there it lenghtened out and spread until it gained lenght and form. Then to spread out in either direction horizontally before closing itself into a bladed form. And the final touch; a curved smaller scythe-like edge exploding from the bottem of the sword.

And that is just what Nu used to open the door they were near. Just a quick spin on the heel and up and down motion later; they had an entrance. As well as a door falling into the house.

Nu always thought it more fun when they had a chance to run first. As was shown by how he made the 'Go ahead' motion to Mu with his suddenly appeared left arm and his right. For such a big blade he waved it far too freely.
An oil slick. That would best describe Mu's movement as it moved in. It did so enjoy it's 'brother's' tendency for the dramatic. Maybe not all intelligence, but it had flare.

"Children, Father's come to take you someplace safe. Somewhere warm." Despite the kind words, the sheer lack of menace in Mu's voice would be disturbing to a humankin. If only it would show expression, a more pleased look it couldn't have.

A mother, her arms spread wide as three children huddled behind her. Quick as a dart, one child ran, screaming away from Mu and Nu. "Demons!!" Only to fall a moment later, with what appeared to be an arrow coming from it's back.

"Pity...I would have enjoyed it more if given the chance." It turned to the mother and her other children who watched in paralyzed horror. The bow of dark matter disappearing before glancing outside a window.

"Enjoy them for me, Nu."
No need to tell him twice. He was already on the move. First to slip around Mu and start into the room. Chances are the remaining family noticed him a bit later then his brother. People tended to do that...

Nu really did not even seem to care about the women though. Really - in the back of his twisted mind - he knew kids were more fun. It elicted quite a few screams as he swung the massive sword up to lay loosely on one shoulder. While his other hand reached out for one of the kids hidden behind the women.

Until she grabbed him that is. That elicted a whole new response. First his hand to catch her's and then to pull her to him. It almost looked like am embrace really. Until he swung her around him by that hand in a dancer-like step. She even twirled before she fell. Though she went down considerably hard as the scythe-blade of his sword dug into the back of her skull then came loose with a vivid spray of blood and gore.

Nu made positively sure to swing the blade just hard enough to sling the blood collected on the tip onto her kids. At this point they were screaming non-stop but frozen in spot. Though the one on the right looked ready to pass out...cant have that.
"Perhaps you have the right idea, brother."

It did so hate to take the fun away from Nu, but Mu needed something to take his mind off 'things' and he's reward him later, in his own way. It turned around, and with a wave of it's hand, several small spheres of matter appeared before bouncing all around the room and forming into long thin, strings as it darted from the ceiling to floor and back again, each ribbon razor sharp.

It left the almost fainting child in the hands of it's sibling as the strands moved every forward, slicing the skin of the humans. Mu's hand rested on one strand as if able to feel the pain and anguish it felt as well as the blood curdling screams that echoed through the house now.

"Bit and pieces
diced so fine

Merry meet and merry well
Now we dine"
Was that a mutter? Freaky; shades could mutter? Not that it mattered much as he reached forward and grabbed the last one. Nu did not like to have his toys taken away. Then again...one left to play with.

"Cute." A simple thing to say. How he even spoke was beyond explanation almost. Counting the smile had long since vanished away. Oh but what fun he could have!

Even as the kid started back screaming Nu's left hand caught his chin. Fingers closed down onto the skin ever so faintly. It could have almost been a caress.

Then the blood started flowing as Nu slowly - ever so casually - dug in. The kid's volumn went up to max as the skin gradually came up. It took a bit of time to do. Though he did be sure to finish by the time Nu was done. As for the product of his labor? The kid was dead before he even hit the floor. One tended to do that when this peice of the body was taken.

"How does it look?" And with that he held the boys face to his. The purple iris of his eye peeked out from a rip between the nose and right eye.
Mu had long since left his own toys dangling from the strings as he watched his sibling play. His hand moved along his chest slowly, almost caressing himself, a faint trembling even moving through his body.

"Beautiful...as always. Such an artist." He moved closer and his arms lifted, his fingertips caressing the skin of the boys face then his partner's. "It's a shame we aren't allowed to dally."

With those words, the 'net' of dark matter evaporated and the bodies fell with a deep thud to the ground. Mu's hand then moved down Nu's arm slow and gentle as he moved past.

"Come, we have other toys to find. Seven is not nearly enough."
A bit of a sigh at his partner's touch. It was a relaxed sound really. Looking at the net made his body hunger. But there would be a time for that later. There were more important things to worry about at the moment.

With light flick of his right hand the hooksword fell away into nothing. Not even a stain on the floor. His left hand merely clenched tight on the face though. This was quite a nice prize; so intact. Perhaps that is what inspired him to shove it into some pocket of his clothing. Just where he put the 'mask' was anyones guess. His clothing seemed to have a habit of shifting ever so slightly often.

Though there was a diffrence as Mu's touch left him. His fingers seemed to clench and unclench as if to expand claws. Oddly enough a trigger response by glancing over his brother. It certaintly did not seem the violent type of action though...

Kept in check as he moved to follow once more. No need to be left behind after all. Time later...there would be.
