Welcome to Gaia! ::

This is my newest project I dubbed it Devil Chasers... it is a mere introduction as Im preparing more and more on this story. Hope you enjoy^_^

Prologue:

In this world the forces of darkness are always trying to penetrate the veil of light that keeps us humans safe from the devils that inhabit darkness. In the night, the veil of light weakens and it is then that the demons can enter those who harbor darkness within their hearts. Those who have hatred and anger are the targets of the devils. When negative emotions such as despair are in a persons hearts devils corrupt that person turning him into a “Seed” the seeds will then grow into the devil´s avatar. A body with no soul just driven only by the need to satisfy it`s ambitions of the previous life.

There are certain individuals that can see a seed. Those are known as the Devil Chasers. This is the story of a particular Devil Chaser. Kevin Hark, a young man with the potential to change the future, if he so desires the world will become a new one but what path is there to choose? Only time will tell.

Phase 1: An Ominous shadow

Our story begins in the town of Belledew. A young man is hearing his alarm go off and gets ready to go out and deliver the newspapers. At his 16 years of age like most young men he has a part time job. He gets up from his bed and changes into his work clothes. A pair of jeans a white t shirt and a red jacket to top all that a red baseball cap from the local team “Aviadores”

"No need to shower this early I´m gonna come back drenched afterwards."

He took his delivery bag and cut the string that held the newspapers together with his knife. He took a second to read the front page once more the news were about another gruesome murder happening in the town the victim was found with their stomachs shred and most of their organs were gone.

"Could it be that someone is stealing organs but why making all this fuss to steal them?.

- “Again The police is clueless on the murder suspects” – What is the purpose of this… could someone be building some kind of frankenstein creature with spare parts? But all the cases are the same, just their organs are stolen."

Trying to put this gruesome detail away from his mind he placed the papers in his delivery bag and went off to make his route. After a while he walked in front of his homeroom teacher`s house a rather run-down old house were his teacher Mr. Ramones would live alone.

Kevin delivered the newspaper and left quickly as not to remember he had not turned in his report for last week. As he ran he heard familiar voice tell him.

"Hold it young man. You sure haven’t forgotten about your assignment have you?"

Kevin couldn’t do as much as to turn around instead he just replied

"No sir I just have to finish it."

This of course was a lie but still he had time to flee before hearing anymore from his teacher.

"Stupid kids these days they don’t respect their teachers. But that is about to change isn’t that right?"

After that Kevin had returned home and as he walked in his mother greeted him.

"Hello dear how were the deliveries?"

"Well uhm… Uneventful" He replied laconically.

"I see, well why don’t you go shower and in the meantime Ill cook your breakfast."

"Thanks mom I will do that"

He walked over to the bathroom and showered quickly since if he didn’t he would be late for school not that he did mind although his mother wouldn’t like it one bit. After showering he got dressed in his room and left for the kitchen were his breakfast was already waiting for him. However it wasn’t quite the expected but instead.

"Cold Cereal? This blows."

Kevin said looking at his bowl with serious gaze of disappointment.

"You know we don’t have much money now that your father has passed away. By the way I hope you can give me some grocery money from your payment, its not enough with what I earn."

"I know I'm getting paid tomorrow Friday so don’t worry about a thing." He then kissed his mother on the cheek without taking even a taste of his bowl he left leaving his poor mother to eat it wondering what had happened to her little boy now.

In the school bus Kevin was talking to his friend Marla Greenshaw the girl whom had been her friend since kindergarten and neighbor since they were little kids she had something to talk to him about

"Hey Kevin have you heard about the murders of late?

"Of course, I have read about them everyday its like someone is taking their organs but what for?"

"Last night I heard some weird noises down the street and today the neighbor`s house was surrounded by the police."

"You mean that the last one happened near your house?"

"Yes it was our neighbor Mr. Adams that died. He wasn’t very friendly and no one ever visited him he always seemed to be angry for some reason but he didn’t have to die. Its so scary what would happen if the killer comes after me next? It was so close last night"

"Yeah that would be rather bad…"

"Kevin you are such an idiot! " The second she had said this she punched Kevin in the stomach and hitting him in the head repeatedly.

"You are supposed to say something manly like “Don’t worry Ill always protect you” or something like that!" Kevin was still dizzy from such abuse on him and just whimpered.

"I believe the killer will need protection from you instead."

At the classroom Mr. Ramones looked even more grim than usual and if Kevin were able to say he seemed to be surrounded by what others would describe as an Aura of shadows… like he had only seen before on his father shortly before the day he had died. He was unusually concerned with this feeling. Even more so when he overheard that he wanted Marla to take tutoring, when she asked why he said it was because of her bad grades… however Kevin’s grades were even worse and he had never been asked to take to have the teacher home .

"Something fishy is going on" he thought as he left for his house.

Later that evening Kevin was playing a videogame on his home system one of those role playing games where the hero has to save the princess from the evil wizard. It was called. Warlock chronicles 4. After playing for a couple of hours he left to see how Marla was doing in her tutoring. The night was a full moon yet cloudy giving the moon a pale veil that surrounded it. When he arrived he saw that the lights were off but Marla’s parents were there since their cars were in the drive way. Kevin thought everyone was asleep quite early. Until…

"Kyaaah! Help me somebody please!"

It was Marla’s voice screaming at the top of her lungs. Something was terribly wrong. Kevin hurried inside and hit the light switch but the darkness remained but there was someone more likely something. That was standing in the middle of the room looking at Marla and not paying much attention to Kevin who was so frightened he could hardly make any noise let alone move or try to help. The silhouette was giving off the aura of darkness he had seen before the clouds then cleared letting the moonlight pass through the window. It was then that he could see what was in front of him. A tall and slim creature with rugged dark purple skin that could be believed to be human shaped. However it clearly was not human since it had long horns that curled up in their tips. A long prominent chin and long razor sharp claws that dripped on the carpet. What seemed to be blood mixed with a foul smelling substance that was most likely the poison it secreted. Gathering what little courage was left within him he screams:

"Marla! What happened?"

"Its Mr. Ramones he, he is that thing he did something to my parents I heard them scream and then the lights went out."

"Mr. Ramones is that thing?"The creature lunged at Kevin trying to slash him with his claws but luckily he was able to dodge it thanks to a quick sidestep and make a run for the kitchen. There he grabbed a knife from the drawers, a rather large and sharp one although now armed he knew he was at a complete disadvantage. The demon once more launched an attack yet Kevin was once more able to save himself from the attack by the skin of his teeth.

“This is no good at this rate I am going to die before I can even hit it. There is nothing I can do”

Then in his mind Marla’s face flashed for an instant, what about her? If he wasn’t able to stop the creature she would be next. It was then that he realized that there was only one way to stop this. He had to kill the creature right here and now. With all of his might he ran at the creature and drove the knife into its chest he felt a stinging pain in his chest as well and knew the creature had taken its toll with him as the next victim it was just a matter of time before the poison would take his life away. But still it was more than enough to know Marla was now safe. He was still conscious and wanted to tell Marla that it was over. With what little strength he had left he made his way to the living room where Marla was in shock, sobbing uncontrollably in her own arms, he walked up to her and held her in his arms. Its going be fine now. You are safe and that creature is dead.-
Marla looked up to him and when she seemed to be calm her face turned again into a horrified expression she screamed:

"Look out!"

The creature was once more behind them and with its own hands took out the knife from its chest shrieking horribly. It was about to give them a killer blow and all Kevin could think was.

“ So this is the end? It cant be! I … I… Dammit“

Then a single gunshot was heard and the creature fell once more someone had shot the creature from behind and made it fall. As it fell the two could see their savior was a blond woman wearing a black suit and in her right hand a jeweled glove with sharp blades on their tips holding a smoking ornate gun.

"Humph! Foul creature you will be sent back to where you belong."

Using the blades of her glove she pierced through the creature’s skin and took out what seemed to be its heart. However it was much different from anything viewed in anatomy class as this still beating heart was completely purple with more than eight valves all kept pumping the poisonous substance that kept the creature alive. With an impressive strength the woman crushed the heart and the creature’s body turned to ash.
The woman then yelled as if someone was outside.

"We have two survivors here! Send a medical unit!"she then approached Kevin and told him

"Are you okay kid? No good. He was poisoned by the demon."

Kevin thought “That was a Demon?” and then he just felt how his consciousness faded away… was this what it felt like to be at… peace?

End of Phase 1
I like it, I really got into reading it, and it sounds successful

heart nice, keep it up, i liked your vocabulary in it.
i LOVE it! i really got into it and i think you did a great job with the details.
Phase 2: Rebirth in a cold room

Kevin seemed to be floating into a space of complete emptiness not even light was there except for the one he could see emanating from himself as if he were the only source of light in this void. He tried to move forward only to see that this space seemed to be infinite and completely empty.

"Where am I?"-

-"In the limbo." said a voice he knew was familiar but who’s was it?

"Limbo? Is this not that the place for the souls that aren’t allowed to go into the realms of the dead?" Said Kevin puzzled. "Then am I dead?"

"No, your time has yet to come. Your body as it is now cant hold your soul, they are doing their best to bring you back. You are a valuable asset to them and they wont let you go easily." Said the voice sounding closer now to him

"Who are “them”?"

"You shall know once you are brought back."

A large flash of light shone engulfing the void of limbo and afterwards all he could see was a ceiling fan spinning slowly over him. The room seemed completely empty of it weren’t for the fan and… when he turned to his side it was the same blond woman that had saved him from before. She was smiling at him and looking quite pleased to see him awake.

"Good you are awake now." She got up and threw at him a black uniform like the one she had been wearing the night she had saved him. "Get dressed and meet me outside. I am sure you want answers."

Kevin got dressed quickly into the clothes he had been give and followed driven by curiosity as much as fear of what would happen if he were not to comply. He got out of the room were the woman was waiting for him. "The uniform fits you well. Come on let me show you around."

After a few steps he saw that Marla was in a room with a group of kids that were listening intently as she reads them a story from a book she was holding. She suddenly realizes that Kevin was looking at her and runs up to him.

"Kevin! I thought you were a goner you were unconscious for three days!"

Kevin looked at her and replied:

"Has it been that long? I cant remember it well."

So once more he received the usual treatment of a punch in the stomach and getting hit on the head repeatedly by his childhood friend. However this time it was different. He hardly felt it at all. In the midst of his thoughts he could make up that Marla was calling him an idiot and how worried she was…
"You insensitive jerk! Are you even listening to me?"-

-"Yeah just… let me talk this over with her and Ill get back to you Marla."

Kevin said referring to the blond woman who Marla had not noticed until now.

"Oh its…"-Said Marla shocked to see her once more- "Ah, uhmm, thank you. If it weren’t for you we would have died that night."

"No problem. Its my job and if you lent me your little boyfriend for a few minutes. I need to talk to him" Said the woman.

"He isn’t my boyfriend!" Marla answered almost automatically it seemed like she would always have to reply such to everyone.

"Fine he isn’t anyhow an agent will come talk to you in a bit in the meantime would you please watch over these kids? They all have had experiences similar to yours."

"Oh, I see." -Marla looked very sad to hear that and walked back to the kids showing them a big smile it was her way to try and cheer them up.

After leaving Marla tending the kids the woman took Kevin up to the rooftop of the building using an elevator. The building seemed to be three stories tall with no logos or anything that made it different from your regular office building.

"This is the Central of CHASE we are an organization that has been trying to suppress the attack of creatures such as you have seen that night."

-Said the woman finally identifying herself as-

"My name is Lamina or that is how they call me here and I work here as a chaser.-

Kevin was speechless. Were these events as common as to have a specific organization after them?

"So you’re telling me that this kind of thing happens frequently? What is Chaser? And what are you exactly?"-

-"She has just told you. Were chasers" Said a slim looking man that had just come out from the door into the building he had short black hair and was wearing sunglasses he had the very same uniform as Kevin right now.

"The main team that deals with this kind of incident. You sure are a knuckle head for not getting it the first time."

-"Wait… What do you mean I'm knuckle head! Who do you think you are?"-

-"I am your superior kiddo. Welcome to the force. The likes of you can call me Asrael and unlike you I am a very experienced chaser."

Said the man who was now known as Asrael, Could that be his real name? And more importantly…

"Welcome to the force? No, you got the wrong guy I am not going to join any of you in this demon hunting or whatever."

"That ‘s Devil Chasers and its not like your have a choice you were meant to join us for a long time" said Lamina eyeing him with coldness in her stare.

" I could never do such things! I am just a kid! I cant go around the world hunting demons!"

"Either could any of us… that was until we were all given the devil’s touch. When a demon touches a human with a heart that isn’t tainted it tries to corrupt it by giving it power… power beyond any human's all senses and natural abilities are heightened to an unsuspected level."

-Said Asrael as he took of his uniform jacket to reveal the large scar on his back that was most likely made when a demon touched him.

"If you don’t believe us we’ll prove it to you right, Lamina?"

It was at that very instant that lamina ran at him at full speed. Pulling her arm back to strike him square in the face, however and to his own amazement Kevin parried her attack. Yet Lamina continued throwing punches at him with the strength to knock out a bull, and he however, kept parrying the hits with ease. After a couple of minutes they were both tired Lamina even more so as it seemed she had given her all on her match with Kevin.

"See? It is true that you're much stronger, regular humans couldn’t withstand fighting with a chaser and Lamina is one of the best in close combat." Said Asrael looking as if he had made his point clear.

"You now have been touched by the devil that means you’re only going to get stronger, but power corrupts that is what the demon wants for you to become stronger and corrupt your soul. To make more suitable vessels for itself."

"How do you know all this?" Said Kevin amazed of having survived Lamina`s strikes

"Most of those who have been touched by the devil become devils unless they undergo periodical “purifications”. Us chasers have to undergo such a procedure once every week. It’s a pain, quite literally, but it is the only way we have found to stop the curse from taking over. Face it kiddo you have no other choice now its either to hunt or to be hunted because unless you're purified every week you'll turn into the devil’s avatar and then… we will have to kill you as well"

This last revelation shocked Kevin but it seemed logical that if he were to become the Devil’s Avatar he would be given chase and must likely death.

"I accept." Kevin said with his voice broken into pieces. A tear rolled down his cheek as he looked at the two chasers who returned the look amazed that their young new chaser had accepted in such a quick yet reluctant fashion. Trying to make a smile he would say, as if he were just signing for his first day at a new part time job; "So? Where do I sign?"

End Of Phase 2
Thanks to my 2 fine readers the liked it however will all of gaia like it... I need more feedback on this... it depends on how the start gets criticized to see what to add in future Phases
i like phase 2 just as much as the first and i dont really have any critisism at the moment
I really liked it. No real criticisms other than a few spelling mistakes but that's no biggie lol xd
Phase 3: The Banishing Blade and the Digital Devil.

Kevin was feeling pretty tired, it had been a week since he moved into the CHASE headquarters. Still in his sleeping quarters he was laying in bed. On the desk he saw a sheet of paper emblazoned with the CHASE logo: a dark phantom being pierced by a sword of light. On a closer inspection the following could be read underneath: Company of Hope, Aiming for Seclusion of Externals.

"Externals? Must be another name for the demons" He thought as he read on the memo that was actually the paper he had been so closely inspecting. -You are required at the armament room head there for further instruction.-

"Fine" he said being fed up with all this office type of ambience he after all thought of himself as a man of action. He left his room and walked through the many halls until tired of searching finally asked a passerby.

"Excuse me would you happen to know where the Armament room is?"

The girl that he had stopped just looked down didn’t look at him straight in the face but he could tell she was really pretty just by her voice. She had short black hair and looked as if she was actually quite nervous due to the fact he was talking to her

"Uhm, the armament room is in the third basement. You just need to take the elevator and you will be there it’s the only room in that floor."

"Ah, thank you"

Kevin then left the girl and rushed all the way down to the elevator that took him three stories underground into the third basement. In there he soon saw the large steel door with red lettering. As well as Lamina who seemed to have been waiting for him for quite a long time.

"It was about time you showed up. You’ re not mister punctuality are you? Enough of that let me give you your access card and password."

Kevin saw that his password was…

"Tuna fish? Why is my password tuna fish?"

"Because I love it. I’m in charge of showing you around so I got to set your password you can change it later. That card and password gives you access to all of CHASE HQ."

After typing “Tuna Fish” on the Keyboard the door split open and inside encased in glass displays where the many weapons designed for the Chasers among them there were the gloves that were covered in jewels and sharp blades on the tips and a rugged sharp palm. Handing her one of the gloves with her own glove clad hand Lamina told Kevin:

"Try this for size" It looked rather different from Lamina’s glove. While hers was white with gold blades on the tip and a large blue gem in the back the one he was given was actually a dark blue with a white piece of crystal and with no blades on the tips just the rugged metal texture in his palm.
"This is your trainee "crusher glove". We wear them for two reasons. To crush the devil cores and to handle the weapons that can slay the demons it’s a very important tool to all of us Chasers, now lets see what your weapon type is."

Just as she said this Kevin got pushed into a large room that was completely black except for a large grid of green lines that crossed paths on the whole room.

"What are you doing Lamina?"

"It is time to test your skills so this is a VR simulation were making you face a few of the demons we have data on. Don’t worry I’m sure you wont die"

"What!? You have to be kidding!"

The grid lit up and from the floor it had risen the Digital Devil an amalgam of those demons the chaser had defeated and that was ready to turn Kevin into shreds. Once more from the floor rises something else a large blade that was wider on the tip and slim on the bottom. From a speaker Lamina’s voice could be heard.

"Grab that sword if you want to make it out of there in one piece! The computer has already analyzed and chosen your most suitable weapon. The sword heaven fang is yours now."

Kevin took the blade in his hand yet the second he had clenched it in his fist the Digital Devil sprung to life and rushed at Kevin tackling him with its sheer force. He is sent flying down the room still with sword in hand. He remembered the hero from Warlock Chronicles and his ultimate attack. Grabbing the sword with his glove he ran at the demon and stabbed it in the chest then using the devils body as a stepping stone leaped backwards with a somersault ripping the digital devil open and with its beating core in the middle of the blade. Once more the voice could be heard from the speaker in the corner.

"Don’t just stand there you doofus! Crush the core or its going to come after you to recover it!"

The Digital devil started healing itself as if it were stitching. Small fragments of data started sewing and joining together to heal the huge slash that Kevin had given it, there was no choice but to do as told, he grabbed the core with his glove and tried to crush it in his hand but it was no good.

"Why!? Its not working!"

Upon a closer inspection he realized the crystal on his glove was shattered. The devil must have done it on purpose. But why? Was it a part of its program?"

Never mind that it was time to put an end to this before the demon was fully healed. Using his heaven fang he sliced the core in halves. The demon shrieked and disappeared and Kevin was once more in the room of VR simulations where he collapsed exhausted holding the sword tightly in his glove clad hand and smiling at himself.

A few hours later….

"So you’re saying he used the sword without the tamer crystal? But he is just a novice. It took us months to get our weapons accustomed to us."

Said an unknown male voice. Kevin could hear all of this but was too tired to say a thing or even open his eyes. After a while the voices faded and he was once more alone. With just his thoughts.

End of phase 3

Hope you don't mind me posting, but I would like to let you know I really enjoy your story and I am subscribing. Other than the fact that it needs a little editing due to grammar or spelling errors, there is nothing else that I feel needs to be changed. Thanks for the heads up on a good read.
Hmm...
I like this story. The plot seems well thought out, and the intro hooked me.
I think you could probably add more details, however. Make the reader feel like they are right there in the story.
Overall, good work! biggrin
mm hmm, your grammar needs some work
the punctuation is rather lacking
but its a really good story
keep it up
I just did some editing I hope its easier to read now
Well my computer made me a number and crashed before I could save most of Phase 4 but still i hope I can post it today or tomorrow evening
