Motosuwa Hideki: main protagonist
Persocons: Chii (possible Chobit?)
A broke student who is studying in order to get into college, Hideki is rather funny. He appears to be a typical guy, a little on the nice side, but nevertheless rather perverted judging from the pleathora of dirty magazines he seems to collect. It seems that Hideki is the only guy in the whole series who doesn't have a clue as to how a persocon works and as he learns the reader gets to learn as well. He's also a genuinely nice guy, as noted by several of the females in the series, and his good heart is especially demonstrated in his respect for Chii as a person, not a machine to do his bidding. *MORE INFO* Hideki does care a lot about Chii, however he still understands her as a machine and hasn't fallen in love with her, which seems to be the tragedy of most Persocon owners. This is especially demonstrated in his...uh... daydreams about the girls he knows and his date with Yumi.

Shinbo (last name unknown): Hideki's school buddy
Persocons:Sumomo (notebook Persocon)
Shinbo is Hideki's friend and schoolmate, so he's another poor student trying to get into college. He is much more practical then Hideki in his treatment of Persocons, though he takes very good care of his own mini-Persocon, Sumomo, who he got just cuz he thought she was so cute. After Hideki acquires Chii, Shinbo is the one that helps him try to figure out what's so different about her. When Sumomo crashes due to her inability to find Chii's OS and other Persocon mumbo-jumbo, Shinbo arranges for Hideki to talk to some one else who might be able to help. He's also very wary of his teacher, Shimizu Takako for some reason. Shinbo is very nice to Chii as well as helping to solve her mystery. MORE INFORMATION (SPOILERS): The relationship between Shinbo and his teacher, Takako, is much more intimate than I had originally thought. Either Shinbo is Takako's husband or her lover in some kind of adulterous affair.

Persocons: none that we know of
Hideki and Shinbo's cute teacher, she seems rather odd. Her manner of speaking and the such are very kind and rather clueless, but this could simply hide some kind of deeper meaning. She likes to drink. A lot. Takako (or Shimizu sensei) has an interesting fascination with Chii but there's some kind of sadness that she relates with Persocons. Shimizu sensei is married! It appears that she actually wants to teach elementry school students, however, because her husband was against it she doesn't. Her sadness is also attributed to his being to busy for her now that she has made time for them. SPOILER (also in the section about Shinbo) It seems that she and her student Shinbo are something of an item and in what context this relationship is exactly is yet to be seen.

Very nice and pretty lady who is Hideki's Landlord. She often gives Chii clothes (including a school uniform) and is not faded by the perverted things that she does while copying poses from Hideki's collection of adult magazines. Her comment on those is that boys will be boys. She seems to occasionally make food for Hideki. Also, Chitose has been divorced and seems rather sad for her failed marriage. More info. on this aspect coming soon hopefully. A generally nice and pretty person, Chitose likes to help around.

Persocons: Yuzuki (a custom built Persocon), 4 housemaid Persocons
A rich 7th grader who seems fascinated by Persocons and is capable of buying them, he has 5 that we know of right now. Minoru's the one that tells Hideki that Chii could possibly be a legendary Chobit. He seems really quiet, always wearing a tired and bored expression, the kind of guy who stays in the background despite his incredible knowledge about Persocons. He is very kind to his, especially Yuzuki for whom he was concerned about when she almost crashed trying to figure out Chii's system. Rather mature for a 7th grader (1st year in middle school). Minoru is fascinated by Chii and agrees to help Hideki find out exactly what she is, provding him with important information later on. He does later provide some valuable information for the pair. Later on we see more about Minoru's feelings towards Yuzuki and the trajedy about it.

Persocons: one key chain version and also a large bunny one
Energetic, she also works at the bar with Hideki who is a little shy around her. He thinks she's really cute and yes, possibilities are there. INCORRECT INFORMATION, the key chain that I though Yumi had given Hideki is actually another form of a Persocon, like a little palm pilot it can check email etc. She used to have a full body male persocon but changed it because she felt sad around it. She hasn't met Chii yet, so her role is a bit limiting right now. and possible *SPOILER!*Yumi seems to have a thing for Hideki and in the Second Manga of Chobits they go on a date! Yay Hideki! Things look good for this young couple

Hiroyass Ueda
Hiroyasu Ueda is the owner of Chiroru, a local bakery which Yumi once worked in and which Chii ends up working at.
He too has had a trauma involving persocoms. When he was starting his bakery he bought a persocom to help with adding up and accounting, which he admits he is terrible at. He eventually fell in love with this persocom and then married her, but she developed a hard disk fault which resulted in her memory gradually becoming worse and worse until she remembered almost nothing at all. Rarely, she would suddenly recell small fragments of memories from her life with Hiroyasu. He couldn't bring himself to get her fixed because her memories might be lost completely in the process of transferring them to a new hard drive, and he felt she wouldn't be the same person if this happened. She ended up dying (i.e., being beyond repair) when she pushed Hiroyasu out of the path of an oncoming car, and was herself run over.
Hiroyasu and Yumi were in love in the past, and still are. Through the help of Chi and Hideki, he and Yumi get back together.

Kojima is the well known hacker on the BBS board that Minoru Kokubunji goes on, and goes by the name "Dragonfly". After hearing about the Chobits that was around, he decides to look around for it and kidnap it to hack into it and see what makes it tick. He coincidently finds Chii reading a book at a book store and takes her to his house. While attempting to hack her, he tries to touch her "reset switch" which causes Freya to control Chii's body and attack Kojima. Later, when Hideki finds out what he did to Chii, he makes him work extra hard to help them find information on her.

A unique Persocon that Motosuwa Hideki finds in the trash outside of a shop, Chii is a Persocon functioning without an OS (operating system?). Her memory is completely blank and other Persocons that try to find her OS crash. This hints at the idea that she is one of the legendary Chobits. She posseses an ability to learn (much to Hideki's embarassment most of the time, being a slightly perverted male). This capability is demonstrated particularly in her language skills. Up to Chapter 5 she doesn't say anything besides "chii", yet we later learn that she seems able to retain a lot of information through miscellaneous observations (the first thing she tells Hideki is his telephone number) but doesn't have any clue on the practical side of things (such as underwear which she first tries on as a hat). A very cute and innocent character to say the least, she quickly grows an astonishing personality and awareness throughout the manga. More information: there is some kind of alter ego who she makes contact with. She also appears to have control of other Persocons

Freya
The first Chobit ever created by Chitose Hibiya's Husband. She was made to be able to express her own emotions just like a real human being and was made because the couple was not able to have their own children and not wanting Chitose Hibiya to be sad by this, her husband created this Super Persocon so they could have their own child. But after time, another chobit was created, Elda which looked very much like Freya who would be her sister.
Because of this ability to create emotion and feel emotion. Freya who was made on a earlier date than Eulda was starting to fall in love and found the one person for her. But this person turned out to be her mother's husband and creator. Not wanting her mother to be sad by this, she hide her feelings for her creator until one day she was not able to keep this in her anymore and thus told her creator about it. And for a reason unknown to us, she requested that she was to be shut down and destroyed so that she will not feel hurt anymore.
Her sister Elda who does not want to see Freya die, transfer all her data and her emotions to her own body and from then on Freya lived inside Elda and when Eurda's memory was wiped out, she continues to protect Elda ( Chii ) from then on and finally when Chii "dies" she takes over her body and allows her mother to erase her as well.

She's really small and very cute and likes to dance around when she's not doing some kind of task. When she first meets Chii and tries to find her OS, poor little Sumomo crashes, much to the dismay of her owner. Fortunately, he fixes her up. Sumomo isn't capable of doing any really complex tasks, she can regurgitate data and draw a map, but doesn't have the ability of learning. Her dancing is quite cute

She got very worked up when Jima was attacked by Yuzuki and moves in to terminate her, lucky for Yuzuki, the electric wire snapped and saved her. ( I wonder who snapped that wire. )

But after months of search we came to know that Jima already knows where Chii is, but he refuses to engage and destory her because he wanted to know or he already knows what could happen. He keeps these from his partner and protector, Dita and watches Chii develops and finally fulfill the prophecy.
