Welcome to the Upper East Side, the home to New York's finest and wealthiest elite. Located in east Manhattan, New York, this borough is notorious for its wealthy residents and for being one of the most expensive places to live in the United States. In such a lively city, there’s never enough to do: from world-class museums, expensive restaurants and boutiques, and elite schools, something is always happening in the Upper East Side.

All of the adolescents attend Wakesfield-Blake Hall, a prestigious private school in the area. Wakesfield-Blake is renowned nationwide for catering to the best and brightest students in Manhattan, however, it is very exclusive. So unless you’ve got the money or the brains, the closest you’ll ever get is through Google and Wikipedia. Of course, there’s the option of public school, but for the UES elite, it’s only acceptable for irrelevant, social outcasts.

But I digress, none of this really matters. Here we are focusing on the spoiled upperclassmen that attend Wakesfield-Blake and live privileged lifestyles in the 10065 zip code. No matter where you live, whether it’s in the Upper East Side or in Lost Springs, Wyoming, drama and teenagers go hand-in-hand. As they say, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

And this is where the story really begins. You may be asking yourself, who am I? Let me take a moment to introduce myself; I am Gossip Girl, the eyes and ear of the UES, if you will. I have anonymous sources crawling all over the city that keep tabs on those troublesome kids for me. Watch out because someone is probably watching you as we speak. Most people hate me, but there are some who can see the good that can come out of me. A single rumor can either make you or break you, depending on if you see the glass as half-full or half-empty. For some, I could be your only friend in this harsh, judgmental world. For others, I am sure you can buy your way out of trouble with daddy’s AmEx card.

① This is a literate roleplay. Post lengths should be about three paragraphs minimum, or two juicy paragraphs with writer’s block. I don’t really like to stress post limits because quality always trumps quantity, but please be considerate with the lengths.


② Decorate posts with at least a picture and a name. Use 9-11 sized font and don’t use light/bright posting colors and write in third person. Please only join if you are willing to commit to the roleplay. Try to post at least once every two days so that we can keep the roleplay alive. Let me know immediately if you cannot post for whatever reason. If you fail to do so, I will most likely open your spot again. No tlkin like dis, unless it b n txts or emails, k thx bby.


③ I love cussing as much as I love Nutella, so I don’t mind if you use cuss words in posts. Just keep in mind; the characters are elitists who have been raised to behave properly in public. I strongly encourage fighting in the roleplay, but keep it clean. As in, don’t describe the guts spilling on the floor or hurt someone enough to kill them off (without permission). I have no tolerance for sexy time/cybersex. Once the undies come off, time skip over the scene.


④ I don’t care how your character acts in the roleplay, but in the OOC, please be respectful to the other roleplayers. Don’t be a troll/a*****e.


⑤ Be creative with your character, but select appropriate photos (Ex: no 40 year olds playing 17 year olds or scene kids as queen bees). I am totally okay with celebrities, but certain people piss me off and there’s too many to list, so I am reserving the right to reject face claims. Photos of real people only, no anime. If you need help selecting people, check out the links at the bottom of this post.


⑥ Use the reserve and profile skeletons provided (found in the profiles thread) and do not alter them. Send in the reserve to me with the title of your character and profiles as your current guilty pleasure. After your reserve is accepted, you have 24 hours to send in the profile before the reserve is removed. That should be plenty of time since the profiles are really easy to fill out.


⑦ Basically just follow Gaia ToS. I hate seeing people get in trouble, so here’s the warning. I do the two strikes rule. Screw up once and I send you a warning, screw up again and I’ll kick your a** out.

At least ask permission before taking without asking; if you're nice about it, chances are you'll probably get approval.

Several months ago, the LACROSSE CAPTAIN discovered that he has a heart condition that would prevent him from playing sports ever again if left untreated. He secretly left the city to seek treatment from the best doctors and surgeons that money could buy. Of course, he left without saying goodbye to anyone, including his girlfriend, the SMARTY PANTS, even though they were very close. The SMARTY PANTS took this mysterious disappearance as a sign of break up, and has even moved on to another guy, the ARTIST. The ARTIST has strong feelings towards her, and she’s just starting to having feelings for him, but her heart has always belonged to the LACROSSE CAPTAIN. Now that he’s back will things go back to the way they were?

The ARTIST comes from a nice, loving, well-to-do family. They have always been known as the picture-perfect family of the Upper East Side, until recently that is. For the last few weeks, his world has been spiraling out of control since his family’s going bankrupt. Of course, they’re doing their best to keep it under wraps, but the situation doesn’t seem to be getting better. Luckily he has the SMARTY PANTS to rely on. But the LACROSSE CAPTAIN’s recent return threatens to take her away as well, what will he do about it?

The SWEETHEART is the PARTY GIRL’s older sister and is dating the JUNIOR MOGUL. Tired of always seeing her sister in the spotlight, the PARTY GIRL has always been jealous of everything her older sister had, including the JUNIOR MOGUL. So at a party one night after too many shots, the PARTY GIRL finally made her move and sleeps with the JUNIOR MOGUL. Right after she leaves the bedroom, the SWEETHEART catches her boyfriend red-handed as he is getting dressed. With knowledge of this latest infidelity, the SWEETHEART wants to find his partner in crime, but his lips are sealed. Little does the SWEETHEART know that her little sis is blackmailing the JUNIOR MOGUL to not say anything without telling her sister about his past infidelities.

The PARTY GIRL is dating the TROUBLEMAKER and was satisfied with their relationship for a while, but is now tired of it. She wants to breakup with him and it’s one of the reasons she hooked with the JUNIOR MOGUL. The TROUBLEMAKER is also tired of their relationship, but doesn’t know that the PARTY GIRL feels the same way. To save her from the pain because of their history, he does what he can to make her happy and to keep up appearances. He develops an interest in the WANNABE.

She is completely enamored by the glitz and the glam of the city and can’t wait to live the life of Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She is envious of all of their wealth, beauty, lifestyles, and the LEADER’s power. She develops a crush on the PLAYER, the first person she met in the Upper East Side.

The LEADER has been the it-girl of New York City from the time she was a diaper model as a baby. She is secretly dating the PLAYER because their parents have been enemies for years, fighting over everything from money to real estate. She notices the WANNABE’s crush on him and becomes jealous and protective of her secret boyfriend, thus marking the WANNABE as an enemy.
