Raven awoke to the sound of thunder crashing around her. Bright flashes of light fillled the star-less sky. Dark clouds passed by the luminescent moon, creating shadows that danced on the forest floor. Small droplets of cool rain fell on her face and neck. The rain quickly worsened and soon she was soaked. After a short storm, thick, eerie fog clung close to the forest floor, making it impossible to see a but a few feet in front of you. 'I must of fell asleep out here' she thought to herself. She placed her hand out, feeling the warmth of Alastor's matted, dripping wet fur. He awoke with a yawn, stretching himself out. He walked over to Raven and placed his head on her lap and fell back to sleep. 'We gotta get out of this forest before we both get hypothermia. She got up, causing Alastor to awake, much to his dismay. She felt her way around the forest floor, her hand out in front of her, until she found a tree. She slowly climbed the tree, finding footholds with her hands as she went. she raised herself just above the fog cover. The fog was thick. She couldnt even see Alastor, who was waiting at the foot of the tree, whinning that he couldnt see. 'I could always just jump from branch to brance, and tree to tree, until i get out of the forest, but what about Alastor? He cant climb trees.' she bit her lip, sending drops of blood streaming down her chin. She lowered herself back down to the forest floor, patting Alastor. "Hush little one. It will be alright. I will find a way out of this mess, dont you worry" she reassured Alastor. He was shivering. His coat was soaked and it chilled him to the bone. She took off her fleece jacket that she NEVER took off and placed it on him to keep him warm. Goosebumps soon formed on her arms. Her clothes were soaked and now her bare arms were exposed to the weather. Heavy, chilling winds blew through the forest. Alastor whinned once more. He did not like this fog one bit. If someone was to attack them, they would never know it. The forest was silent except for the sound of crickets and the occasional owl and the rusleing of leaves in the trees and the crunch of leaves and branches under our feet. Soon they reached the graveyard where they were attacked before. They desided to take this path through the forest, for there were far less wet boulders and mossy logs to climb over.
The air sent chills down her spine. Here in the graveyard there was not a sound to be heard except for our own footsteps and the occasional crow that roamed the cemetary and the clang of Raven's katana sheath as she went. Crows and Ravens were known to be the keepers of the dead. They had a chilling aura about them. Raven liked it. Alastor was restless. The large gash he had gotten from the zombies had not yet fully healed, even with Raven's healing powers. He also had many gashes on his legs as well. Raven had not fully recovered either. She still favored her right leg, and her arms and chest were filled with gashes. They continued to go through the graveyard when suddenly Raven heard Alastor yelp in pain. She ran over to him, hopelessly scared on what tragedy might have befallen him. He was glad when he saw me and he whimpered in pain. Locked around his leg was a decomposing hand, its long nails driving into Alastor's flesh. Raven immediately usheather her katana that was hanging from her waist and in one stroke sliced the feindish arm from its owner. She resheathed her sword and pried the hand from Alastor's leg, which was still digging its nails into his flesh.
The hand wriggled around for a few moments then went limp. Raven didnt trust it. Zombies dont die. The hand could surely come after her once she turned her back and stangle her. They had to get out of that graveyard, and quickly. Raven took off like a bullet, Alastor close behind. She held her trusted katana out in front of her, hacking and slashing off limbs as she went, slowly clearing a pathway out. She could see the exit. She new the zombies would not follow her beyond the gates of their grave.
she leaped for the exit when she felt a strong hand on her shoulder pust her back. Alastor growled, baring his teeth. He lunged at the attacker, a large zombie probably twice the height and three times the width of her. Raven raised herself from the ground, ignoring her throbbing wounds, and went to assist Alastor. She thrust the katana through the zombie's chest, peircing his once-beating heart. The zombie stumbled back, then lunged foward once again, tackling Raven. The zombie grasped on to Raven's shoulders and began to drag her back into the graveyard to feast on her stilll-living flesh. She hacked at his limbs and slashed at his face, trying to relieve his hold, but his grip was strong. Alastor lunged at the zombie, bitting through his jugular. He fell to the ground with a thud. Raven and Alastor fled to the gates, locking them behind them. The large zombie grasped Raven's throat, trying to crush her jugular and larnix in one foul sweep. Raven dropped her katana, sending it clanging against the cold, hard ground. Alastor lunged at him, gnawing at his arm. The zombie smacked him away and squeezed tighter at Raven's throat, slowly lifting her from the ground and dragging her back into the graveyard. But she wasnt giving up without a fight. She flailed her arms and legs, pushing off against the fence with her feet. She reached down just enough to grasp the hilt of the katana. The thrust the sword foward, chopping off his arms, which still writhed at her throat after being sepatated from its owner.
She pried the hands off her and ran to the castle, Alastor right at her side. They didnt stop running until they got inside, much to the protest of their wounds. Once both inside, Raven quickly slammed the door, not caring who she awoke. She slid to the floor, gasping for air. Alastor panted beside her. Raven let out a sheepish laugh. "Well...that was fun, huh Alastor?" she laughed, trying to catch her breath. Alastor barked happily, glad he was out of that mess. Raven removed a first aid kit from her bag and wrapped gauze around Alastor's hurt leg. They she placed a splint on it to help him walk, which he hated. She bandaged up the large gashes on his muzzle and chest. Then she began to heal Alastor, her hands giving off a faint red aura.
When she was done she layed back against the door, wincing in pain. Healing took alot out of her and she didnt have much left in the first place after that fight. She placed her hand on her acheing neck. Now that alastor was feeling beter, she could focus on her wounds. She patched up some of the smaller wounds, using a needle and thread to painfully sew back the skin on larger wounds. Then she wrapped gause on her stomach and chest, where deep gashes had been placed by the large nails of the zombies.
After she was done she got up and went to the dinning hall. It was almost 3 am. Thats when she usually got up anyways. Might as well just pull an all nighter. She took some raw meat from the fridge and gave some to Alastor, who barked happily, thanking her for the fresh meet. Raven bit into a large peice of meat, letting a few small drops of fresh blood run down her lips. She was too tired to care. She washed it all down with a bottle of rootbeer.
'Now what do i do?' she thought. She had already done her morning jog, much to her dismay. Now what could she do that was quiet until everyone woke up? "What to do, What to do?" she said aloud. She switched her attention to Alastor. "You wana go explore the castle buddy?" she asked. Alastor barked in reply and set out infront of her, bounding back and forth as he went. She laughed. 'Where does he get all this energy?' she thought. She shook her head. 'Silly dog.'
