Ashley Mamba Kreshik

A male sighed as he moved about outside with a hood over his head a bit once the sun got to high. He was weaving his way around the crowd, trying to get away from them and to one of the taverns for something to eat. Sure he could have ate in the castle or gone to one of the vendors, but with this festival going on he didn’t want to be around so many people. It was bad enough during the ball, having to pose as his young Master and acting all pompous and pretentious. That wasn’t him. He was quite, secluded and used. He figured since he was born in the Salara manor that he’d die in that manor too. Now he was engaged to the third Naryl child who he hadn’t even met yet. He’s heard about him, but that’s all.

“Hello Miss Kreshik. Would you like the same as before?” The voice that spoke to him, again thinking he was just a female, was still strange to him. “Yes please.” Ashley said to be polite. It didn’t help he was doll like and had the name that could be used for either. “Congratulations again on the engagement. You may not becoming Queen, but you’re still going to be important.” Setting the drink and little bit of food at the bar, the man smiled as Ash sat down. “You need to eat more Miss, you look very thin and pale.” Trying to be polite Ash smiled a bit. “It’s how I was born and raised. I was never allowed much food, my parents wanting me to stay beautiful for a future match.” If Ashley hadn’t been good at lying then the barkeep would have seen right through that he wasn’t actually a noble. After picking at the little bit of food and eventually eating it all, Ash finished his drink and paid for the meal before getting up and leaving.

Wrapping the cloak back around him to protect his skin, Ash decided to walk around a bit to do what was expected and socialize. As he walked he had seen the Princess talking to another female and nodded at her in respect as she looked his way. That was until he almost walked into someone, having enough reflex to do a quick stop. If he hadn’t he’d have dumped over some expensive merchandise. “I’m sorry Miss! Are you ok?” Ashley held up a hand as he shook his head some. “No need to apologize, I was the one not watching.” “This is the finest silk that we make, please take the shawl that I had made the night before. It’s the least I could do for not moving fast enough already before something happened.” Not use to the customs of royals and non royals Ash had no choice but to take the shawl without protest. “Thank you. It is very beautiful.” he said, looking at the iridescent shawl that looked like it could match his hair. “My inspiration comes from the people and your hair inspired many creations.” he said, nodding his head. “I must be off M’lady.” Blinking at the wink he gave at the use of the formal term before he walked off, Ash sighed again before he carefully stored the shawl in his cloak. It wasn’t the time to wear something like that.

Looking around now he didn’t know what to really do, so he just roamed around looking at things, making sure that not much skin was visible to the sun.

A real life zombie apocalypse was something Jessie never thought would happen. But here she was walking through mounds and puddles of blood and guts, both zombie and human that didn’t get the chance to reanimate. The only time she ever seen this many zombies was when she played Resident Evil after a few hours of Left for Dead. The years gaming though did make her think of what it’d be like if it did happen and how she’d prepare for any kind of happenings in the games. Well now she had the chance when the outbreak happened. Lucky for her the guy of the night that her mom was with had a few toys that she so happened to have borrowed. Before she had really delved into games to take her mind off her problems, she had a friend whose dad ran a gun club, so she got free lessons on shooting. She had been pretty good at it, only getting knocked on her a** a couple times when trying a new gun, but always refused to go with them to competitions because at the time all the expectations and people would have severely set her anxiety off. Respecting her choice, he instead showed her another skill she could have when she couldn’t get to a range, how to wield a katana. At the time she didn’t know that he was one of those doomsday preppers and taught his own son this stuff with his wife. So since she was a child she had known how to defend herself thanks to him. Her own father should have been the one to guide the mute girl in life, but he was a deadbeat who used and abused her mother. Her older sister Demetria had shielded her from it the best she could, but when he kicked her out as a teenager for being bisexual, using the excuse she wasn’t his, Jessie didn’t have the shield anymore. After that day the little girl isolated herself, even at school until she had met her best friend that she grew up with pretty much. She still seen Demi sporadically, but it wasn’t all that often with what she did for jobs.

Being pulled out of her thoughts by something skittering around her shoulders, Jessie rolled them a bit before reaching up and patting the ferret on the head. The ferret, Sora, had been a gift from her friend Devan on one of her birthdays so she always had a companion. They even got it registered as a service pet for when she had attacks no matter how severe. The three of them were so inseparable, even playing games together online and local. Feeling his little claws skittering again, more frantically this time, Jessie grabbed the hilt of the katana on her back and unsheathed it in one smooth motion. She would use the pistol at her hip but she was down to only three bullets and she had been walking the highway for what felt like days since she last seen a gas station, so she was trying to save what she had left. Not attracting anything was also a good thing since she was alone. Slowing her pace, nearly black orbs scanned the area for any movement. She knew things have been a bit to calm and quiet in the last few hours of her trek. After what felt like a cautious half hour, Jessie didn’t see signs of any form of zombie. Sheathing the katana, she looked at the ferret for any other signs. She usually knew what was wrong with him and how his movements dictated what he wanted to tell her, but this time she knew she interpreted it wrong as she felt him skitter more. Stopping for a moment Jessie fished his leash and harness from her bag and put it on him before lowering him to the ground. Watching him run around without trying to pull or trip her, she knew she got it right this time. As long as a threat wasn’t around she didn’t mind letting him walk on his own.

Letting out a silent sigh as she pulled a baggie of crackers out of her bag she started to nibble on them as she walked. If she hadn’t been so active in the years prior her legs would have gone out long ago and forced her to rest, but because she spent some weekends LARPing when not active online trying to defy stigmas of gamers needing to be able to speak to be ranked high and putting herself on a little work out in between the times, she was able to walk several miles at a time. Though she loved games and music, she still had to rotate what she did so they wouldn’t set attacks off. It didn’t stop her from finally achieving a top 10 female gamer rank, something she was proud about. She even made friends with one of the others that had been up there for three years, but the only name she knew her by was O.asis. In fact she didn’t know much about her new gamer friend before everything happened. Shaking her head a bit to stop thinking about the start of this all, Jessie looked up when she heard cawing. Smiling at Kora, the crow that had pretty much adopted the teen as her owner, Jessie could see her circling something. Tugging at the leash a bit for Sora to climb back up she secured the ferret before taking off at a jog. She trusted Kora and learned fast that since now she was imprinted on that the crow won’t lead her to an infestation of zombies. After half a day of running and walking with a few minutes break every so often, she finally came upon a rest stop. Making quick work of making it safe, she fed Sora before eating herself and loading the bag up with drinks and non perishables before heading back out. It was her luck to find a vehicle with a bicycle attached to it, thanking whoever was merciful for it. With a faster way of travel now, she followed Kora’s guide while keeping an eye out for zombies.

After another day of traveling she finally seen buildings in the distance and wasn’t to much longer before she was in the city. Being tired from days of traveling and little rest, Jessie looked for somewhere to stop and rest. A wrench was thrown into that when the bike ended up with a flat now. A day on a highway with lots of shrapnel and it goes flat in the city, lovely. Silently sighing Jessie ditched the bike and sat down in an empty area for a rest. Having just taken some more crackers out Sora decided to wake up and want to skitter around. Not being fast enough to get his harness out, not keeping it on him all the time so it didn’t snap on something and trap him if he needed to go get help, she had to scramble to get up and run after the fast creature, having to stop when he went into a dark alley. Her gamer side was coming back about this kind of situation and as a precaution pulled the katana out. A small thin girl that didn’t look like she had any muscle to her wielding a katana almost bigger than her would look like a funny sight to anyone now, and add in the silver-white hair and very pale skin and she almost looked like she came out of some Japanese anime. With a blade in hand and the bag secured on her back over the scabbard, Jessie made her way into the alley, hoping that Sora didn’t find trouble.
