- tab Celaena caught the look her brother was giving her. If it was anything else, he would've agreed or let her run off on her own, knowing full well she could take care of herself. However, with the the hand upon her shoulder and the gentle squeeze that came with it; she braced herself for the words, she knew were about to come out of Jericho's mouth. Despite their feelings on the matter and their very vocal thoughts, her brother was right, she hated to admit it, they had a duty to uphold. It wasn't about upholding their duty to their king. No, she refused to do anything for that man ever again but instead she looked at it differently. If this arrangement would bring peace to her lands so they and her people could flourish, then she would do her royal duties, for her kingdom.
tab She would give her brother credit for still wanting to fight this but she knew, just as well as he, that there was no stopping this. If any of them, not just her and Jericho, could've stopped it, it would've been done already. Alas, here they were, at a place that would be their home for who knows how long. Cel remembered the very brief conversation she had with her king before they left their home, with her asking when they'd be returning home. Deep down she knew she would not be returning home, not anytime soon but she wanted to hear her father say it. The old man had simply refused to say anything other than he didn't know. He couldn't even meet her eyes when he spoke. It was then she realized that her father truly didn't care about her or Jericho anymore. "Jer, we both know we won't be able to stop it."
tab Her blue eyes held a sadness to them as they looked upon the castle and the lands, "Just like we both know I won't be returning to Uloc." Celaena loved her brother, she had always thought he was to overprotective but now she was glad he was. In this moment, her heart broke and the urge to run was pounding in her head but she wouldn't leave her brother. As a carriage neared the castle, she gave it a fleeting glance, already knowing by the flag and horsemen surrounding it, it was the humans from Asaon. "Everything will be alright brother." It has to be, she thought to herself. Leave it to her to try and be the optimistic one of the two.
tab It was then as she went to move towards the castle, that the humans came to a stop, followed by a very loud voice announcing who was in the carriage. Celaena let out a very unlady like snort before she stopped in her tracks and looked at her brother as the youngest princess fled the carriage and ran inside. "Couldn't be anymore subtle if they tried, could they?" Shortly after the fae princes arrived, their presence was announced the moment a doorman spotted them. It seemed since they were the first to arrive they didn't need announced which was fine with her honestly. As Rhys and Roan approached she caught the eldest eyes, how she wanted to approach him but instead she turned to her brother. "I think I'll retire to my room for a little bit."
tab Thundering hooves reached her ears as she moved inside the castle, the elf princess glanced over her shoulder to see the demons making their way towards the castle. "Seems my choice came at a good time." She wasn't trying to be cruel but there was no one she could lay eyes on her betrothed until she had sometime to go to her rooms and compose herself. After she walked inside, she hailed down a servant and asked to be shown her room. The servant led her up the stairs which opened immediately to a hallway with 4 doors on each side. Celaena knew immediately these were the rooms. The servant opened the first door on the left which revealed a quaint room. It was fairly simple with all the necessities and to much to her delight a fireplace with a small fire already burning. She murmured a small thank you and then shut the door behind her.
tab Once the door shut, Cel took a deep breath, she could feel the tears streaming down her face. She had tried for so long to hold it together but now that she was by herself and the reality was staring at her in the face, she broke.
