Temporary post, not complete yet:

GaiaOnline username: Giuseppe DeAngelo and others.
The character is an NPC and can be controlled by everyone.
Character name: Harry Malone
Age: 54
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Ethnicity: Caucasian, Irish-Italian.
Nationality: American
Bio:
Harry Malone was born in 1957 to an Irish father and an Italian mother. Since the beginning, he had always been a nice guy, agreeable and overall friendly, with a special soft spot for his parents. The bonds he had with his parents were especially close, and his parents always had a great influence in his life and later, his career. His father had boxed as an amateur, but retired once Harry was born. His mother, on the other hand, had a strong passion for cooking. Since the family was small and didn’t have enough money to open up a grand restaurant, Harry’s father funded a café with the bit of money they had. Harry's mother spent most of her free time working in their café, she was always cooking or baking, making new treats for Harry and his father, or tending to the café, creating new recipes and feeding the occasional customer. It wasn’t a big business, but it made her happy.
Early on, Harry took a great interest in boxing, an attribute he attained from his father. He often listened to (live) boxing on the radio and regularly went to watch boxing matches with his dad. Harry’s interest grew, and at around age sixteen, he finally decided to attend a local, public gym for kids his age, where he first began learning how to box himself. He took extra lessons from his father, an ex-boxer himself, and continued to hone his skills in boxing until he himself became a boxer in the same year he turned sixteen, 1973.
After several years of a successful career in boxing, in addition, he developed a partnership with the mob, an underground boxing ring where gambling on the boxers happened all the time and the fights were always fixed so that the mob chose who won.
It actually worked out really well; you could even say they were friendly with each other. No threats were ever issued against Harry. Harry was more than a decent fighter, too. His skills earned him quite the reputation, and he soon escalated into a rank of professionalism among the mob. Most of the time, people were betting on him! This win-win routine went on for about nineteen years before his mother passed away in 1992, when Harry was thirty-five. Devastated, Harry slacked off a bit; losing more fights than he won, even fixed fights organized by the mob. Sometimes, he wouldn’t even show up at all. This lost both him and the mob a great deal of money. The mob, of course, wanted this money back, and they wanted it now.
Money, that’s what it was all about, just as it always had been. Their background with Harry didn’t seem to matter anymore, now that he no longer earned them money. This was when he learned a lifelong lesson about the mob, that being that they never really can be your “friend.”
To make it all worse, the WWBO (World Wide Boxing Organization) discovered his association with the mob and banned him, rendering him unable to box professionally any longer.
His downfall struck Harry hard. And the mob breathing in his neck didn’t make it any easier.
So he collected his possessions and booked the first ticket away from his birthplace he could get his hands on. He moved to New York City, where he managed to find himself a cheap apartment. Of course, it didn’t take long for him to figure out why the price was so low.
In an elongated state of depression Harry picked up a nasty drinking habit, not to mention eating more than ever, too . This drinking reached the point where Harry could have even been considered an alcoholic. But, this was understandable, at the time; Harry was in a phase where he was suffering. Naturally, he was still upset over the loss of his dear mother, lived in a s**t-hole, was prohibited from participating in his favorite sport, which was also his only source of income and he was on the run for the mob!
Harry lived his life this way for a good seven years with no end in sight. It seemed that his life was over already at age forty-two, that nothing was going to get better for him.
Finally fed up, he decided to try his luck, attempt to climb out of this rut he created for himself. His first step was to go and get himself a loan in hopes that he could fix up his life a bit. To create something for himself and generally improve his current lifestyle.
Unfortunately, the bank wasn’t about to hand over the loan, so he was forced to take a more illegal approach to acquiring the money. This approach included associating himself with the mob in his new city. Perhaps it wasn’t the best decision, but it was the only solution Harry could have thought of.
The mob gave him the loan, which was really as good as it got for a bit. He quickly realized, and ill-fatedly for him the mob did too, that he was unable to repay the loan. This earned him a pestering crowd of loan sharks on his back. At first, it had just been one guy visiting to recollect the debt, but Harry hadn’t forgotten his boxing techniques despite all his overeating and frequent insobriety, so Harry puts his skills to the test and sends the guy off in a very violent fashion. The next three guys the mob sent experienced a similar result, landing them all in hospital beds.
His chosen manner of getting these sharks to leave him alone was perhaps not the best one. He successfully ticked off the mob, not only by not paying his debt, but by messing with their people. They try again, this time sending a crew of two plus a Made Man Harry’s way. Harry instantly set about reminding the two loan sharks what happened to the others while the Made Man, who later turns out to be a guy named Sonny, watches interestedly. Sonny, strangely enough, decided that instead of Harry needing to be “taught a lesson,” he had potential. Once all the violence was out of the way, Sonny calmly approached Harry and proposed an offer. Sonny had somehow discovered a way that Harry could work for the family, being the tough guy he was, and the family could always use a guy like Harry. Harry, seeing no other options, accepted accepted.
The mob was still a bit hesitant in allowing Harry in for multiple reasons, among them suspicion and issues with lineage, but with all the benefits that Harry gave them, they couldn’t afford to lose him. Instead, someone from higher up ordered Sonny to shadow Harry almost twenty-four seven, and thanks to this compromise, the two men developed a friendship. This relationship with Sonny and agreement with the mob worked well for Harry—he soon began making money, albeit slowly, enough to pay back his original debts. Things for both Harry and Sonny only escalated from there. Years passed, Harry repaid his debts, and Sonny was promoted to a caporegime, where he gains a great deal of social influence in the mafia. At this point, the mafia trusted Harry enough not to force someone to breath down his neck all the time, so the two men drifted apart a bit, as they no longer worked together directly. Their friendship held strong, though, and so once Harry, at age fifty-four, expressed a longing to live a more settled, lax life, Sonny put in a good word for him and managed to severe all of Harry’s ties with the mafia. Sonny even extended his selflessness, offering Harry a job at the bar Sonny owned and operated from, which Harry gratefully took. He still happily works for Sonny, socializing with people outside of the mob and still strengthening his friendship with him.
Other:
Harry Malone is a "NPC" bartender character, this means that it's not a character that actually belongs to anyone.
If nobody else is present, and you still wish to roleplay in Sonny's bar, you can order your drinks and have a conversation with Harry.
At some times during the story, Giuseppe DeAngelo might control Harry himself. This because he might play an important role. If that is the case, the frontpage will be updated to say so.
