STORYLINE (basic)
A couple hundred years before the present, a large crisis plagued the lands of XWORLD. The cause of which was the ill use of arcane knowledge by X-ANTAGONIST and his followers. They were somehow overthrown. X-ANTAGONIST was killed, his followers marked and put under extreme surveillance until they practically died. A couple of the followers were not caught, though not many know that - and certainly not the people that need to know. Hundreds of years later, those progeny of those followers still possess something sinister from the times of X-ANTAGONIST…
Cut to the present. Many of the species and creatures of olden times have disappeared and are thought to be extinct. There is much lore about such creatures, but not many think them still around. To those that do believe them to be around or know they are, are either forward with it and thought crazy, or secretive about it, to protect the creatures (though there are rare cases, obvs.)

One day, Rosetia reveals to XXX CHARACTER (who is nearly bloodthirsty for knowledge) that there is a way to learn the secrets of the arcane. He ventures off to do so… reviving all the creatures that have been thought to be dead. The people do not take to them lightly. (the nonbelievers, shame on them!!)


CHARACTERS
BASIL
Old man of the woods, noted for his apparent craziness and hermit-status. The nearest township is quidnunc, loving to gossip. When not talking about the most recent weary traveler, they love to talk about Basil. Basil however, is a retired, wise advisor for some kingdom, and this will eventually come to light when said kingdom is in crisis. He was granted an extended lifetime (who knows how long?) after (NAME OF CRISIS X-HUNDRED YEARS AGO).

He’s somewhat slow, very cryptic, and quiet. Has a surprisingly nasty temper when someone is close to figuring out something he thinks they shouldn’t know.

ROSETIA
or centuries - locked away and hidden after (NAME OF CRISIS X-HUNDRED YEARS AGO). She somehow knows where the secrets are hidden, and entices some character to learn them, thus awakening more calamitous happenings. This includes the birth and revival of many creatures and species thought to be dead for years. Is a sneaky, sly, witch.

YA ZHOU
blind monk, renowned among scholars and religious bodies for being spiritual and knowning how to kick a** (she’s a very well trained martial artist, though her previous master died.) she has yet to learn all the moves in the (SCROLL OF WHATEVER MARTIAL ART SHE KNOWS), because she cannot read. There is only one person left that can read the scroll, and therefore teach her, but he is nowhere to be found. Without him, the secrets of that art would be lost forever.

XXX CHARACTER
unleashes the arcane. A rejected student from the XXX Academia (name of some huge city), he becomes a person of menial work and holds a grudge against the academy. He’s narcissistic, believes himself to be the smartest, the greatest, the most deserving - but loathes himself for being in such a pitiful state. He can’t help but be enticed by Rosetia’s hints - the knowledge of the arcane has been kept in the dark for hundreds of years! Of course someone as great as him would be deserving to find it. and so it begins.


CREATURES
DRASSIERYA
Phosphorous/bioluminescent creatures that have apparently been killed off since the expansion of XYZ nation. Lives in aggregations underground in burrows, usually hostile and unsociable, to both people and own kind. Used to be a thriving species. One particular group however, is friendly to a town in the north (unnamed), as they both share nocturnal traits. Kind of guard some houses, partake in some town events. The friendly town is quite isolated, so not many people know of the drassierya. People who do share their existence are scoffed off - after all, drassierya have been dead for centuries! That changes, however, when the town gains popularity for ____.
