I think what messes us up the most...
xxxxxIs that we all have this perfect picture in our minds of how things are supposed to be.

    ▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂

Addison looked at him and smiled as she took in his full features once more as if she had not seen him in years. All she could remember was darkness, nothing was there and all she could hear was his voice, and for the longest time it had stopped causing her to wonder in the dark now alone, and feeling unwanted. She had never heard Ricky's voice once as she laid there motionless and lost in her empty world that her mind had created to protect her. She felt him hug her finally and she brought her arms around his body feeling him, more tears falling down her cheeks, he was all she had wanted, she only stopped moving because he had asked her to relax and now she wanted nothing more than to lay with him in bed. To hold on to him forever. She gave him a weak smile and then noticed the odd color where she had seen Ricky hit him before but if Mary was right about how long she had been out of it then should the bruise not be gone by now? She thought about it and what she knew about medical in the body and she tapped her chin lightly before she got the nerves to ask. "Is your face still healing? From the beach thing? I did not think that Ricky had hit you that hard...." She said trailing off a little as she thought about it some more. She did not try to sit up anymore just sat there looking at him a soft smile on her face though it was threatening to fall.

"I have been out for a while now from what Mary told me..... She was who i first saw...." She looked away from him thinking, why was it not you? She held the tears back, "I suppose she told your mother. The other nurses came in and checked on me. I can not believe how stupid i was. I should have just gone straight home instead of trying to walk around in the dark." She shook her head. "I was foolish.... i should have come back and checked on you...." She said to him not mentioning that she should have checked on Ricky. Why didn't you come after me? She thought to herself as she looked into his eyes. "What are you getting around on now?" She asked him curious as she looked at the helmet already knowing.

When he asked if she needed anything she looked into his eyes and in her mind she screamed out, You!!! I want you, i do not want Ricky, i never loved im, i can not see myself loving him, it is you i love, you i want, you i have always wanted and always loved!!! Why don't you want me!!? She looked at him shaking her head. "...No...." she whispered as if in pain. "I have just missed you so much.... I don't think it is the country rubbing off on me...." She spoke softly. "Its.... having a friend like you..." She said to him still not wanting to admit her feelings to him. She tried to swat at him but when he moved, she was unable to reach him since it was to hard to move in the bed. She wiped a tear away as she hated herself more and more for not telling him how she felt.

"Can i tell you something?" she asked him looking at him seriously. She waited a little bit before she spoke, it was like choking on the words as she tried to organize her thoughts. "When i was sleeping...." she had no idea that Conner had been there, and Mary had not told her much of otherwise. "I was lost in the dark still..... When i walked off i was in the dark, alone.... and when i could not walk anymore i slept.... and i stayed sleeping.... but i was still in the dark... alone." She said frowning now as she recalled the nightmare she was trapped in. She took another deep breath, her throat hurt from not using her voice for so long. "But.... for a little while i was not completely alone.... i had.... a voice i could hear.... It was helping me find the light.... Relaxing soothing.... I wanted to find it...." she looked at him not wanting to out right tell him it was his voice in case it was just to weird for him to hear that. "Soon it vanished.... like... it was blocked or something...." She was meaning him being dragged from the room. "I didn't.... i didn't find the light until i was tired of being alone.... i wanted to search for the voice again.... and to..... not let you down again." She said to him innocently. She felt she had let him down that night at the beach when she had not been able to stop Ricky from attacking him, and not going after him. She still did not know that he was falling apart and drinking at school, missing classes, work, and practice. If she did she might have swung at him.

Makai could feel his body being dragged. Someone tossed his body on what felt like a cool ground. He could hear voices talking but was not able to make out the conversation. His jaw was throbbing in pain and keeping him quiet while he laid on the ground. "Bride" Was what Makai could make out in the conversation and connected they where looking for his bride. He coughed trying to open his eyes to see who was talking, he was going to kill them where they stood if it was the last thing he did. Makai found however they had bound his wrists together. He snarled looking up "iiiie! he tried to scream die at the other man who quickly bend down smiling at Makai as then brought him to their face. "You first trader! But we will wait to see what Lothair wishs of you.." He said drawing his fist back slamming it into the side of Makai's head.

Makai was out cold again. As they moved his body Makai could hear voices echoicing around him as he went in and out of counsiousness. Makai did not wake again until after they put him in his cell. Makai could not feel anyone else around him. There was other vampires he could smell but not close. He assumed he was in a heavily locked cell. He opened his eyes slowly and looked around him. There was no way he was leaving the room. He could already tell the restaints on him kept him from tracing and he assumed his cell also kept him from tracing out. He carefully sat up trying to find a wall to lean on as he reached up to touch his jaw. Makai felt it was already starting to heal and took a deep breath before shoving it back into the correct spot. He swallowed hard taking a deep breath and felt the air escape groaning. "fuu" Was the sound he managed to make spitting more blood pooling in his mouth. Makai closed his eyes and sighed leaning against the wall and relaxed. Now his jaw could heal the way it needed. He decided to fall into the silence of sleep before they returned hoping to help the healing process along.

Makai was woken again later this time to the sound of someone opening the cell door. He looked up snarling at the man flashing his fangs. Makai was not in the mood for these bastards and he was not going to give up who his bride was. He stared as the man kept their distance from Makai, It made Makai happy to know they kept their distance and had some respect for the fact he would not hesitate to kill them. "Leave" Makai bite out snarling. "We want to know where your bride is." The man looked at Makai as if there was some threat that Makai would not be able to protect her from. "What bride?" Makai looked up at him and smiled. The man did not look amused in the least bit. With that he stepped aside and waived on to the other men who seemed to be waiting outside. Makai smiled at them they moved close to him and were met with Makai headbutting them as hard as he could. The other man sighed and moved towards Makai and slammed his fist into him causing Makai to become dizzy and disarmed him.

He woke again in a room staring off trying to stop the dizzy sickening feeling. Makai was now being strapped down as he looked off at the other men. He swallowed hard trying to focus on something, anything in the room. He closed his eyes trying another tactic. He opened them only to the sound of someone talking to him. Makai looked and grinned. "Well hello there Richard...Been....a long time." He said laughing at the man before him Richard did not seem to have a reaction to Makai as he walked into the room. "Makai... We need the name of yourr bride... No more games, no more running, you will stay here with your family where they can watch you closely." He took a seat in front of Makai. Makai did not respond looking away from the man as he felt him reach out and grab his chin forcing him to look into his eyes. "The bride Makai... WHO IS SHE!" He hissed looking Makai in the eyes. Makai narrowed his eyes at him but said nothing. He could see the red in his eyes it was darkening the more Makai did not respond. Richard slammed him in the stomach as hard as he could. Makai coughed up some more blood looking down at Richard. [******** off... I have no bride."
He said doubling in pain feeling Richard step back and release his face Makai slumped. "We hear your heart Makai... cut the s**t!" He said sounding more and more aggitated with Makai. Makai looked at him and snarled. "There is no bride, you hear s**t." He said groaning.

They left Makai there when he refused to tell who his bride was. It felt like hours before anyone returned. Makai watched as another man showed up holding a needle and hose. He lulled a bit from the pain tracing through his body. The man set a tray down as they wrapped the tube around Makai's arm. He watched as they shoved the needle into his arm causing Makai's body to flinch in response. He watched as they let the blood in him drain from his arm. [********... They are going to starve me... For the first real moment Makai was feeling scared. He knew they would not give him food the way he needed it. He was not raised to drink from the source. When the man was done he ripped the needle from Makai's arm and took the tube with him leaving Makai sitting there arm still bleeding as he watched the man leave. "b*****d" He breathed out closing his eyes and leaning back in the chair. Makai looked again seeing the door open this time and watched Richard come back into the room. "It is time for you to become one of us. It is your destiny. You must drink from the source... Or we will kill your bride once we find her." Makai looked at him and smiled, "Even if I had a bride. Whether I drink from a source or not you would kill her either way, would you not?" He said jaw in pain from talking to much. He breathed in deep surpressing a groan. He could see Richard smiling at him as if to say Makai was correct. Richard then denied it and shrugged. "I would never." He said smiling as if to try gaining Makai's trust. "There is no bride." He swore again and watched Richard sigh. He shrugged at Makai and sighed. "The hard way it is then." He said leaving the room. "I have left a .... gift for you..." He taughted to Makai as the door shut.

Makai watched the men walk in and pretended to be weak as they unstrapped him. He waited until they where about to recuff him and quickly jumped on the closest man wringing his neck. Makai tried to trace and swore when he realized this room was unable to be traced in and out of. The second man seemed to jump on Makai from behind slamming their fist into his shoulder. Makai hissed in pain turning to him swinging at him with his right fist only to be caught with his left in a cuff. He landed the punch and quickly turned on the other man as well slamming his fist into him. The first man he punched finished cuffing him. He felt shoes in the back of his knees as he screamed out in pain. The men threw him into the floor hard one holding his hands behind him while the other restrained his ankles. He was breathing heavy his head throbbing and the hunger was starting to set in. Makai looked up at them and narrowed his eyes. "I will kill you..." He hissed as they grabbed his hair slamming his face into the ground. Makai gasped and felt himself black out once again.

He woke slightly once they returned him to his room. This time he felt he was now chained around the neck shackles on his wrists but not his ankles. Across the room he could see a female dressed in close to nothing. She looked confused and dazed as if she was coming down from a trance. Makai closed his eyes knowing what she was meant for. He took deep breaths and moved farther back from her leaning his head on the wall. She was his 'peace offering' a food source for Makai. He opened his eyes slowly looking there again still seeing her. He shook his head and swore. This was toruture in itsself. He only wanted Clara and here was a female in his cell causing discomfort in a different way. She seemed to be shivering and confused. "I am sorry." He said to her slowly leaning back she seemed to be retrained herself like a lamb being offered to a wolf. Hurry Clara. He thought closing his eyes again, soon he could smell somewhere on her was a wound the smell of metalic was wafting through the room. Makai was thinking about the ocean with Clara. He wanted to drift off to sleep and stay in that memory of them embraced in the water.

"Please dont... please... Where am i?!" Makai suddenly heard the girl crying in the corner. He opened one eye and sighed. She was doomed. "No... I wont be hurting you.. Makai looked at her now with both eyes. She looked into his eyes and seemed shocked as if she had realized he looked normal. "Stay where you are... Where did they hurt you?" He asked her as she seemed to move towards him but stopped when he told her to stay there. "They cut me...Said the first time should be done during a fight..." She looked at him fearful not knowing what the hell the others had meant. Makai laughed. [******** them... I wont be harming you. I promise." He said even feeling the hunger getting worse. "I am going to rest... Just stay calm..." He said to her hoping he was calm enough in his voice to keep her calm to relax on her side as well. They want me to fall... Lothairs blood line... His ******** bloodline... a big familiy secret and even most of these men do not know... He wont kill me... But he will keep me here to suffer... perhaps hoping i have a bloodline for him to control a female to produce children... ********... i will kill them all if they touch her... He was thinking to himself trying to drift off to the dream of him and Carla in the cave.

It has felt like a whole year had passed since Kashi found the oil lamp in Matsumoto Antique Shop. She was instantly drawn to it like it had called out to her. She loved it from the moment she saw it on display. Kashi had requested to buy it and hurried home with it. That was about a month ago now. Little had she realized that the lamp was more special then she could have ever imagined it to be. With in the lamp a spirit had been dorment. Kashi had made sure to clean the lamp daily talking to it as she did. Till one day she could have sworn it responded to her. Kashi was so used to talking to herself that it had taken a moment to realized that no, someone else has responded to her. That was when she saw him before her not far from the lamp his name was Alter. Kashi just assumed she was tired and simply walked away. Not very long ago she had agreed to marry him. With little to no one in her life Kashi was able to keep it secret, however much of her life was secret.

She had a power that was not completely under control. She was working on when to heal and help other people but Alter was her main focus. She thought back on the conversation to try the festival. Kashi was not as interested in it as many other people might have been but Alter seemed interested in seeing the temple. She agreed to go with him. Walking through the crowds Kashi had all but clung to Alter to avoid energy healing people at random. She watched him as he eyed everything in amazement. When they passed the monks passing out the Ofuku packets Kashi smiled accepting for her and Alter nodding. She followed Alter who was seemed to have a one track mind to find food. Kashi often forgot to feed herself and had reminders from Alter on more than one occasion to make sure she ate enough.

She was sitting waiting for Alter to return looking down at the packets. She was intereted at what was inside smiling at what could be given. She sighed putting them back in her pocket. Instinctively she moved her hand up to her neck touching to a pendent with unknown markings of a lost temple inscribed to them. It was used to hang the lamp but could be used as a necklace. Kashi feared losing it more than anything. She touched it looking for Alter starting to worry as she felt others fears and worries.

She heard the sound of his voice looking up smiling at him. "Thank you Alter. I could have gotten food." She said knowing well enough that she would have forgotten or got herself involved in healing someone in line and got distracted. She smiled at the food he brought her and nodded. "It looks good." She said smiling as she took the food and sat watching him as she litened to everyone around her. There was games to play and so much more good food smells in the air. After a few bites Kashi looked up at him and wondered, "How much more different is it now?" She said keeping her voice low as to not draw attention to their conversation.

His heart was in his throat he just knew it. Being here as a big mistake, why not the art galla that was opening down the street. Sumi why... why do we have to be here... He was dragging his feet in almost a literal sense as she was not to far from him. He walked with his head hung low as if she was leading him to the gallo infront of the town square. He heard her question of its beauty, in honesty Bowen only looked up so often to see her before returning to his slow pace. His hand were in his pocket, lifting his right hand out as he waived at her as if to agree. With her call to hurry Bowen looked up to see that beautiful vision before him. Damn.. He thought to himself giving her a smile. "I have heard the same my love bird... however lets limit the trouble today." He reached out to her face pulling a stray piece of hair from her face to see her more clearly. He was mixed about being with Sumi, she was so different from him however she was just what he needed in life it seemed. He agreed to marry her and aside from the small mischief she causes once in a while everything was smooth.

How such an energetic spirit would reside in such a pin. He smiled grazing his eyes over it for a moment. Bowen again reached out caressing her cheek and smiled at her. He met her eyes gently and planted a kiss on her forehead. She was his little mischeif maker. Some of it was amusing but he had put his fair share of small fires out from time to time.

Without warning it seemed that she grabbed his hand like a vice and yanked him along the path faster than he would have ever liked. Bowen almost laughed at the motion until he damn near tripped on his own feet. He knew if he lost his footing Sumi would drag his limp body along the path to get some fun on. He finally caught her pace and smiled when she handed him the Ofuku packet. He quickly stuffed it in his pocket and snatched her up in his arms and wrapped himself around her in a hug. Bowen was a fairly tall man in comparison to the average height of his peers. He pulled her in close nuzzling her on the head before releasing her from his grip and taking her hand once again. "Please stop dragging me along. We can get everything done much easier if you are not draging my body through the temple don't you think?" He said smiling at her.

He hated being at the festivals, it brought on memories of his family before things had turned for the worse. Really any big event was a turn off for Bowen really. If he had napped as a child he would wonder in his sleep still experiencing the event. Thankfully as an adult this is not the case, though he could almost always sleep on que due to his.. gift. "Now! My beauty... What would you like to do first? Games? Food? Our Photo?" He said still holding her hand tightly as they wondered through the path to decide what it would be first. Bowen still remembers the shock of a woman being before him while trying to paint the hair pin. He had argued with her for a good while not to break the pin. Now he feared she would break. Bowen was scared something might happen to the one person who had not panicked when he was able to wonder in his sleep. The one person who seemed to love him as he was. It was why marriage was such an easy yes from him. His father still in jail and limited interactions with his mother due to her fear of him left little to invite. He looked down following her with his eyes.

The flash of his teeth caused her to smile at him slightly. ‘Should I be scared of this flash?’ she thought to herself amused. Perhaps she should have been more scared of the being before her. Sedra would not show this being or any other being that she was afraid of them.”What us power other than a greed.” She mocked him gently. Power was all she had in this life and it seemed everyone around her wanted it. What she never understood was how this greed could ever satisfy them. She had all the power and yet what happiness did she get to taste? Sedra lived a life of seclusion and loneliness as everyone she had access to almost instantly was uninterested in being around her. She knew part of the problem had to be the years alone and unable to know what was acceptable for topic or relationships. ’What is he up to?’ She thought as he traced her bottom lip, allowing her face to move instinctively with his touch. Let her be called a harlot at this point it was better than Prodigy. The pressure to always be the best, the best daughter figure and student often took its toll on her.

Sedra almost scoffed at the woman who was whispering about her reputation. Sedra no longer cared about her reputation, what was it really? The pride and joy of the Institute? Some bird locked in her own personal cage. Her reputation went up in flames with the orphanage. She held the reaction in where she wanted to flinch in disgust at the thought of it burning down. Sedra wanted nothing more than that memory to vanish. She brought her back to the moment looking, Sedra steadied her breathing as she grounded herself to this moment. She was present once again looking before her at the taller man. She was fairly short for her own race, which upset her to no end but what was she to do?

Her purple eyes now fixed on him as everything around them could have suddenly erupted in chaos; she was more interested in what his intentions were. Previously when she paid the circus a visit he left her alone. Her mask had not fooled him and it made her wonder how many other people paid as much attention to detail as he clearly did. The mask that she had on was a white color with teal feathers coming from the sides, the mask itself was lined with golden etching. She had picked the one that covered the most of her face without obscuring her ability to taste foods. When his face neared hers she moved in close seeing his fangs and smiled as she snapped her teeth at him. Sedra had little to fear from him as she did not care. She grinned while their gazes seemed to meet with him trying to intimidate her.

She drew her face back slightly at his comment over the lollipop and scoffed slightly. He was not wrong and though it pained her to admit he was right, he was. Would she admit this aloud? Not even on her deathbed. She wanted to have something entertain her for a bit and now that Domitius seemed to have interest in playing she was ready to play back.

She sneered slightly at his response. She stiffened the shiver that threatened to run up her spine as he whispered in her ear. Sedra could see what the rest of the girls she had seen linger around him after acts might be caught up in someone such as him. Perhaps there was something more to this? She felt him snatch the treat from her hand, but still had decided she was not taking her eyes off his as if caught in a staring contest. Their game however was who would break the gaze first. Just as Sedra felt she had won she felt him usher her away, caught off guard she did not fight him.

Suddenly finding herself standing on the dance floor she looked at him with more curiosity than she had their whole encounter. ’What is this… being up to…’ She thought to herself, cocking her head to the side as she was genuinely wondering what he was up to. The game was fun until she could not guess the rules. Finally she watched as Dom set himself up in the stance, one arm wrapping around her waist and the other in the air. She hesitated for a moment before stepping into the embrace. She made sure his hand stayed on her lower back as she placed hers on his and met his left hand with her right clasping it. She looked up at the taller being and smiled. She stepped in line with him as if every step had been rehearsed between them every night for their whole lives. She looked up at him, her left brow raised in curiosity as she almost laughed. She was not one to let her guard down as she had always been told it was weakness as she spun around the floor with Dom, her skirt twirling around her knees. She allowed him to break the grasp to place a flower in her hair.

They spun around the floor more stepping in time with each perfectly placed foot on the dance floor. The music was a soft but upbeat tempo that she could have sworn she heard before however it escaped her memory of when and where it could be. She could hear the sound of her heels hitting the wood but kept her eyes on the being before her. Sedra felt herself moving in ways she had not practiced before. Spending so much time alone there was not much else for her to do other than study. It was not until he released his grip on her waist once more but this time she felt the shift of his arm as it straightened out to hold her right hand still. She followed the que pulling her left arm out the hold in a pointed hand downward. She allowed him to spin her still trying to keep her eyes on him each time she passed around full circle. Sedra could feel her hair falling out as something was happening. ’Magic…’ She thought but could not catch what it was Dom was doing. Keeping her composure Sedra caught a glance down seeing her skirt grow and seem as if it was catching more shine from the sun as he spun her around. She looked back up at him confused as to why he would do something that others might see as being kind. She knew better than to think anyone could be kind, especially to her. Sedra felt as if her breath was taken away at the sight of the dress around her. She knew better than to enjoy it however. It was a cruel joke and she knew it as such.

Sedra looked at him as he pulled her close to his chest and began the steps once more. She finally let out a quick laugh. There was no happy indication in the amused laugh she could not stop from escaping her lips. ”I know nothing comes from the circus without a price… I have no intentions to agreeing.” She spoke softly but allowed him to continue the dance. She indicated for him to spin her again as she arched her back, turning counter clockwise she lifted her right leg in the air before returning it to the ground allowing him to give her another one foot spin as she lifted one leg looking at him and smiling. Sedra should have been more weary. She checked her hair for her pin as they continued. She felt it there slipping it from her hair quickly to her chest stuffing it inside. She felt Dom pull her in again to his chest leading her along the floor. ”I will give your taste is lovely.” She said as he stepped out pushing her so their bodies lined up. ”This dance can only go for so long. Must be a nice way to promote your circus with your ringleader hmm…”She said smiling at him trying to get some kind of indication from Dom what was happening. Her eyes flashed light blue for the splitest of seconds as the crowd seemed to be enjoying what they saw. When she returned to his grasp once more her eyes looked the same purple they always seemed to be.

He rose slowly to a standing position his back was straight as he kept his eye on Anais. Makai made sure to make no facial expression as he was completely aware of the trouble he could be in right now. He heard her voice first before quickly turning his attention to her. He watched as she began the lecture he knew she would hand him. Makai did not argue with her as she spoke only nodding. While she leaped over the building he nodded his head speaking in a non argumentative tone, "Of course. I apologize the royal in me has gotten in the way again." He said not taking his eyes off her. What was Makai to do in such a situation? He had no family to speak of in his mind and the closest thing he had was the watchers. Makai looked at Anais as a motherly figure or at least the one he had hoped to have as a child growing up. Not the woman who allowed a man to try killing her child off and writing him out of the family history. Not even killing him off they wrot ehim out as if he never had existed. Makai squeezed the hilt of his sword trying to calm himself.

He took a deep breath noticeably his eyes relaxed. The questions started pouring in as Makai stared forward for the most part as she rounded him. He listened knowing he was caught. "I.." He cleared his throat sliding his other hand to his pocket where his watch chain was sitting. "I just wanted to see her." He turned to look at Anais. He was not lying to her about that. The her he was referring to was the princess. "I have not heard anything of her well being and thought if I could see her..." He was torn as part of him wanted to lump her into the hate he felt for his parents and the other part wanted to love her as he did when they were children. This was to say however that he might not take the opportunity to kill his father if given the chance.

At her last question Makai looked her dead in the eyes and kept his mouth from curling. He thought for a split second before answering, "I am always looking for trouble..." He stepped back from the entrance of the ally. He could have climbed back over the walls and continued on with what he was doing but in doing that he knew the punishment would be harsh and physical. He kept his cool and looked Anais up and down. "I just wish to know how she is doing." He let his hand fall from the watch as he looked at her his eyes almost looking dead and defeated if she was to look close enough. Makai still felt the fresh pain of betrayal of his family and him showing up to the watchers half dead. The burning of the sun as he used what he could to cover the cuts on his hands which still had scar still a constant reminder of that day. He squeezed the hilt of his sword once more remembering the pain of that day. He did not break his gaze however.

"Was there something that came up?" He said calmly wondering if news of something else had made it to the watchers while he was out wondering the festival. Makai had to remind himself to pick up treats for Dessi before returning to the watchers.

[Heading into town with Vara.] am i [ᴡɪᴛʜ] Vara [*] *

He watched Vara head off past him and Jo clearly upset about something. He wanted to ask her what was wrong and stop her but he decided against it. He sighed and held the bag with the shirt that Jo had picked out with him. Mostly she had picked it to be honest. Makai looked at Jo smiling faintly. "I will catch you guys later." He extended his hand to Xander and nodded, heading off towards his truck. While he was walking he sent a text off to Terrace to let him know he was heading back to his place. He figured the two Omegas would be up to something as it was and was going to let it go this one time.

Back at his place Makai tossed the bag on his bed pulling out a clean pair of dark washed jeans, a black belt and a tie to match his belt. He jumped in the shower taking extra care to make sure his hair was nice. He dried himself off and was pulling his jeans on and pulled the burgundy shirt out of from the bag. He walked to the kitchen getting scissors out from a drawer cutting the tags off leaving them there as he headed back to his room to complete his outfit tucking in the shirt. He noticed his phone seeing an unread message and smiled at Vara. He almost laughed aloud as if someone could hear him.

                                  To: Vara
                                  From: Makai

                                  Sure thing boss.

He set his phone down near the door on his dresser. Makai was pulling on some black socks moving to the closet pulling out his boots, tossing them near his door. Makai tossed his tie around his neck, digging around his dresser for some cufflinks. He finally found the box he was looking for smiling as he found the cufflinks he wanted. He slipped them into the shirt as he suddenly heard someone open his door. Most people would have instantly gone into attack mode over such a thing but Makai could sense who was walking into the house. He laughed to himself. He was adjusting his wrists looking around the room as he moved back to the bathroom to fix his hair up tie still sitting on his shoulders. He grinned slightly when she called out to him. "Alive?! Me? Hardly." He said, finishing up slicking his hair in a gentle spike style. He sprayed his cologne on, double checking himself in the mirror before heading out of the room. "Hold on…. They get drinks and not us?!" He slipped his boots on, grabbing his phone, opening the door to his room as he stepped out. "I will be damned if they get the best of me in drinking on your dim. Needs to be on theirs." He grinned a toothy grin stepping out where she could finally see him. He slipped his phone into his pocket. Makai winked, heading to the counter snatching up his keys and slipping them in his pocket.

"I may head off to the bar after… perhaps check on the Omega’s at the party. I can almost promise they will be down there." He said with a gruff laugh as he walked towards her slipping his tie around his neck. He stopped and did a spin around throwing his arms up. "What do you think? Jo said this color is Burgundy." He said with a smirk stopping at his closet by the front and digging deep into it. He pulled his arm back out holding a Jacket and slipping it on over his clothing. He smiled taking her in. "As always, Vara, you look radiant. You could make a brown bag look like a fancy gown." He winked at her following her to her car, shutting up the house behind him.

He got himself comfy in the truck looking out the window as she started them down the road. "How are you doing?" He spoke more seriously not knowing what was going on in her personal life much lately since they often have not been hanging out. "I miss shooting the sh-.... Well… ya know." He looked over at her grinning.

Evelying was returning from a weekend art retreat. She could still smell the different paints on her even though she had stopped at her place and taken a shower. With Nikita going to a meeting she was left to her own devices. She had stopped to sit with their dad and have a small meal together. She was happy to just enjoy his company for a while even if Nikita was busy doing something else. It helped that her adoptive family was so accepting of her and they never made her feel like she was not apart of the family or the pack. She had dyed her hair brown once again.

She was wearing a black dress with poke-a-dots. She chose boots with a small heel that went up to below her knees in a dark brown color. She smiled at her dad giving him a hug before deciding that she was going to stop at the beach and see what this party was like now a days. With that in mind she decided to stop and at home and grab some things.

After the pretty short drive Evelyn had gotten herself a blanket that she was able to stuff in a small backpack and some snacks. She tossed on a baggy shawl jacket that hung off her body. She sat in the car looking out the window reminding herself the pack was going to be there even if Nikita was not. She parked the car not far from the entrance heading in alone making sure to lock up her car. One thing she got from school for sure was not to trust people fully. She had an extra pack of sandals in her bag just in case. She heard a sound of a loud motorcycle turning to see someone getting off. She shrugged and headed her way back to toward the crowd. She moved closer to the water a place she often enjoyed as she found a nice spot. She slipped the bag off looking around to see if she saw someone familiar. She pulled the blanket out laying it on the sand keeping her snacks in the bag. She decided to slip the shawl off and put it in her bag her shoulders now completely showing. She sat on the blanket pulling a notepad out and started drawing the people who caught her eye. She saw the one who she had seen at the motorcycle looking up and down staring at him longer than a few seconds from time to time. She grinned trying to get his features correct from where she was now sitting cross legged on the blanket.

    If I Know what ━━━
    Love is

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━

To Freya the day was like any other day. She had gotten ready for school as usual packing the things she needed, among some required things from her parents. She checked the list over and over, silver, salt, sharp wooden pencil looking stakes the list went on. She even had a small thing of holy water. What sane parent makes their child carry such things? Freya had tried not carrying these things but that now subjected her to random checks either before school or after. She never knew. Her parents called themselves hunters of the magical creatures. However, she thought them nuts. Who would name their child Freya and then give her the initials of FAE only to supposedly hunt the FAE.

She sat for her breakfast talking to her parents. She was supposed to come home right after school but she figured she could walk much slower than usual. She smiled at them leaving for school as she walked the few blocks it took to get there. The whole day was uneventful to her. No one did anything out of the norm as far as she noticed. Freya had decided instead of taking her time going home she might try going out of her way to take a long way home. She grinned at the idea, small defiances always made her day. She walked through a decrepit area slowing down as she saw a house that looked to be decaying. "Wonder if it is haunted..." She spoke aloud to herself as she headed up the path to the door. She knocked to make sure no one was there. Freya pulled her phone from her pocket using it as a flashlight. She loved scary stories on T.V., this being a new town to her and her parents she had never seen this place before and was excited. Maybe their crazy obsession with finding mythical creatures has finally given me something cool... Freya thought as she entered the next room.

At the end of the dingy room she was now stepping into Freya noticed a covered mirror. She was curious about the large standing mirror as she walked carefully into the room hearing the objection of the unused wood floors beneath her feet. She carefully reached out pulling the sheet off the top of the mirror staring at the full length of the mirror. She tilted her head looking at the etchings. It was old clearly but they seemed hand cared and deliberate. She could almost sense a vibration from the mirror as she looked into it. She lifted her brow in curiosity as she brushed her fingers gently along the etchings before moving them along the glass. She froze however when the glass seemed to shimmer at her touch. "What the...." She breathed carefully shining her phone light at the mirror and leaning her head closer. Suddenly her phone rang startling Freya, before she could do anything however she stumbled toward the glass scared she was about to break it as she braced for impact. Her eyes closed waiting for the shattering sound of glass that was never going to come. Freya slowly opened her eyes, I died... that is it... I died. I fell into the mirror and died... what a way to go.... She said, opening one eye, waiting to see the heaven she was taught about growing up only to find herself sitting on the hard ground in what looked like a forest. "What... the...."She said, turning her phone around as she turned it off, finally standing carefully. She could see the mirror before her like a doorway. Freya sighed, moving to exit back how she came only to slam face first into the glass."Ouch!" She bit out stumbling back realizing she was in a sticky situation.

Matthias was lost in thought on how to make this situation right. He wished that Wu had stuck around, perhaps the younger sister could have been of some help. She was good with the small god child, perhaps she had some good input. He thought back to their interactions and wondered how she was so blunt with conversation. What was different about the upbringing between himself and her. Luo and him had similar experiences but Luo had more freedom than Matthias did. Always under the watchful eye of their father Matthias had expectations upon him. He was not paying much attention when Jai had food sent off to their sister, he had almost forgotten that she was not down for the meal.

When he heard Jai speak to him, however, he nodded and headed to the fireplace. He did not wait for anyone to follow him as he took a seat contemplating this arrangement more. If I were to marry the younger one she would not last long.... To marry the elder one... I am not sure the palace would last long... He gazed into the fire thinking this over taking note of his siblings suddenly. He motioned for a cup of tea for himself. He watched the steam rising from the cup as it danced around in the air. The steam slowly fizzled to a less dense stream as he turned his attention to Jai who seemed to have something to say about the matter at hand. It was something he asked and therefore his attention would be on her.

He did not flinch when she mentioned displeasing him as this was something he was used to. Having already noted himself how much love the siblings expressed to one another Matthias was envious of it. How many times had he wished to be held by his sister after he was removed from her care. How many times had he wished he could seek out his younger siblings for play. He could not sneak off as Luo did to learn things that interested him more. He was always being watched, someone always reported back to their father of his misgivings. Our sisters and I were not given such care.. This stuck out to Matthias as he mulled over her words. It took everything in him to not flinch at these words. He knew for this statement alone what his father would expect of him. He could feel the pressure to strike his sister as his father would want, but it was not Matthias's way. Perhaps their father had left Jai's care for longer than he should have. Matthias did not care.

WIthout a warning Matthias lifted his drink seeing his sister was waiting for his response now. He took a sip as he contemplated how he should respond. The urge to follow their fathers orders was screaming in his mind. Strike her down. A woman should not speak to a man in such ways. She should be glad she was cared for with food and shelter, ungrateful. Matthias finally reacted. He threw the cup into the fire and closed his eyes as he heard the sound of glass shattering. The fizzling of the tea as it hit wood and brick. He listened silently until the sound stopped completely. The return to the fires crackling and popping of wood. He opened his eyes looking down at Jai. "There is nothing but a powerless feeling in an arranged marriage. Fear is to be expected..." He turned to look at Luo and then let his gaze drift to the fireplace. It felt good smashing the cup far better than laying a hand on the only person who showed him an ounce of empathy.

"I apologize sister, you should have been cared for. All of you. I, however, am unaware of how to fix this... The expectations..." He trailed off finally lifting his right hand and running it down his face. It was very clear he was fighting an internal battle with something. You are weak! Rang out in Matthias's mind as his anger threatened to push forward. Not anger for his sisters nor anger for anyone within this palace. He took another deep breath trying to calm himself as he let his hand fall again. "I am unsure of how to handle these...expectations from the Donovans..." Matthias did not turn to look at either of his siblings as he simply spoke aloud watching the flames as they danced along the wood casting shadows that moved along with them. They moved towards something, destruction of the wood. Matthias wondered if they were flames marching along towards the same outcome.

XXXXXXMa-Thias did not bother to acknowledge the feet of those running from the castle. He thought for a brief moment that he had spotted the young child of one of the Donovan sisters. For that one he tried to catch a small glimpse of the child. He thought back to what he had seen of the Donovan family the evening before. They all seemed to have varying shades of blonde hair. While he and his siblings all had their jet black hair. I wonder if they are all born of the same father and mother. Another set of footsteps hurried past where he was sitting. They were in less of a rush from what he could tell. They were, however, on some kind of mission. He then caught wind of a third set of shoes hitting the ground. This was more panicked running, they belonged to someone older. He caught something brief about where the small child had gone. Ah... They brought his tutor... Child has already alluded to him. Interesting. A maid brought Ma-Thias his tea.

XXXXXX"Thank you." He gave a simple nod to the woman. With that she hurried off without a word. He could only guess what about him made her scared but he assumed the answer was the same for the rest of the staff from his kingdom. He was the eldest in line for the title of king. He was taken from his sister early enough for everyone to assume any teachings Jai had bestowed on him were erased by the cruelness of their father. He sipped the tea looking at a fire and wondered if that was true.

XXXXXXHis attention snapped up when he saw his brother and gave the younger man a faint smile. "Morning brother. I am glad to hear your rest was eventful. Mine was also restful. Jai did a wonderful job preparing my quarters as always." He brought the glass down to sit on the table next to him. When Luo mentioned their choice in clothing he gave a slightly bigger smile. "I suppose we have. Though, I wonder how confusing it will be for the Donovan Princesses. Jai would ruin that fun quickly." He teased before letting the conversation drop. Someone entered the room bringing something small for Ma-Thias to eat. He heard a squeak before turning to see they had nearly dropped the tray seeing that both Ma-Thias and Luo were now sitting. He gave her a confused look, how was this that much of a shock at this point. "I....I apologize second Prince Luo.... I... I did not know you had come... I...I..." She was clearly shaking.

XXXXXXMa-Thias rolled his eyes standing swiftly as he gently put his hands on the tray. "It is fine. We can share. Bring him some tea as well please." He grabbed the plate of food watching as she swallowed hard looking away from him. She bowed and backed out of the room before Ma-Thias could even turn to sit. "Just existing brings fear." Ma-Thias sighed offering the dish to his brother as he plucked something off the tray and took a small bite before returning to his seat. When Luo seemed to stumble on his words Ma-Thias turned to give him a puzzled look while he waited for his brother to sort himself out. He could be a man of few words but he did give the time to listen. When Luo finally got the question out Ma-Thias thought for a moment. "Personally I feel our father is up to something. If not, then I believe this should be a good faith in our kingdoms to grow together, perhaps even change some things." He was not sure if his brother was suspect of his distaste for the harem that everyone expected him to collect. He had seen the stress it caused his sister in raising him and his siblings, why would he want to keep such a tradition alive. "Not like I have not attempted to marry into another kingdom." He teased his brother, though it hurt to think about the woman he had once tried to wed. The one who often called him, Matthias. "What are your feelings on this arrangement? I am also curious as to which sister you would hope to marry? I caught sight of both sisters yesterday evening. One has a child with her, he already has a tutor in a fit running around the castle." He gave a smirk winking at his brother. It was not like Ma-Thias had not attempted such stunts in the past. Only when he realized the punishments could be passed onto his siblings did he stop.

Someone had found Tia quickly directing her to her room. Mary found her not much later directing others to pile the luggage near the dresser. Tia had found herself looking over the room making sure everything was alright. Her mind was on the window looking over its size and ability to open or not. Seems to be sturdy. I think If i just… Tia tried opening it finding the latch to lock it nodding in approval as it popped open. Somewhere behind her was the sound of Mary. One escape route found, I just need to remember to open it before bed…

      ”Miss…”

”I am sorry Mary… What did you say? Tia had to shake the thoughts from her mind and focus on Mary. Tia had such fond feelings towards this woman as she was the closest thing she had to a friend until Sabine had started coming around.

”We need to get you ready for this evening, your travel dress is wrinkled…” Mary spoke clearing her throat as she mumbled under her breath, ”Of course tying your skirt in a knot will do that…”

”I heard that.” Tia shot her a look.

Mary gave her a knowing look. ”I know.” Mary began unpacking more dresses, hanging them up as Tia rolled her eyes.

There were few people who dared to speak to Tia in such a manner, directly or not. The dragoness prided herself on being strong and thus found it insulting when someone questioned her actions. She moved to another part of the room checking for more exits to this place though she was happy to at the very least have the one. ”I will start cleaning myself up.” She said as she found her way to the water basin. Tia was relieved to see some water was already in it as she sat herself on the vanity and began looking her face over. There was some dirt here and there but otherwise she seemed to be fine overall.

Her mind wondered yet again, I wonder how Sabine is doing? Perhaps I should have followed her? We are after all in this together… Tia found herself nibbling on her lower lip worried about the other woman. Pulling her hair down slowly Tia was trying to find something to fiddle with that was not a risk at her beauty. The strands of white began falling gently as she picked up her brush, running it slowly through the already soft hair. Mary behind her digging through her things looking for the dress Tia had wished to wear.

”I think I found the dress my, lady.” Mary was holding up a shimmering fabric when Tia turned to look.

”Thank you Mary. That is the one.” She spoke in a soft voice before turning back to the vanity brushing her hair until Mary could come assist in putting it up. Tia was not sure what she was looking to have her hair look like but she was also not in a mood to think about much more than finding out who it was she would have to marry. Setting the brush down Tia wiped her face clean again trying to keep herself calm. I never thought about marriage. By the time I began thinking about it, I found out I was promised to some demon. And at that no one knew who? She scrubbed her face harder as if the thoughts could be washed away with the water.

”I wish to take a bath after tonight..” She spoke looking at her mirror as if telling herself that is what she wanted but heard the confirmation that Mary understood.

Mary placed a hand on Tia’s shoulder gently. Tia stopped with a sigh reaching for the dry fabric that Mary handed her dry herself off with. Mary nodded, reaching for the brush as Tia dabbed the dry fabric on her face fighting every urge in her body to scream. Finally Mary took a deep breath and let the fabric fall. Mary was already finishing her run through with the brush and had begun dividing the hair into sections. She had 6 sections that had been planned to turn into two braids along the sides of Tia’s head then twisted into one another and pinned up. Tia would have a few stray hairs framing her face.

”This is a battle I am not ready for Mary.” The woman nodded at Tia’s words to indicate she was listening, however she had pins in her mouth and was unable to respond with words.

Tia was setting her jewels around on the table, careful of the gifts her mother had left her with for this journey. Tia was not one to deny her own vanity when it came to her looks or collection of shining objects. Finally Mary seemed to be finished with her hair but now was grabbing a box from her pocket that Tia knew Mary had pulled from the luggage. Tia watched in the mirror as Mary began stringing metal along the braids pinning it in as the red rubies popped against the color of her hair. Tia loved the white and red combination and she knew it was because she was reminded of her own scales. Some confidence returned to Tia’s chest as she looked at her reflection noting her own eyes looking back on herself.

      ~~Time skip to the ball~~

Tia found herself staring into the full length mirror. Mary was fixing the dress she wore making sure it was going to hold up through the evening. Tia admired her skirt, it was lined with precious Diamonds that shone when the right light reflected off them. A slit moved up the right leg giving her more movement than the dress from earlier. The slit ended just above her knee. Tia had picked this particular skirt knowing that she was able to run easily in the fabric and had the ability to move easily to dance. The top of her dress was a corset type set up that crossed over her chest with her mid section showing and her back was revealed. Fabric was crossing along her back tightly holding up her chest. There were no gems on this portion of the garment. She admired the fabric’s soft touch and the color that complimented her sun kissed tan skin. The dark blue fabric reminded her of the night sky as she grinned thinking about the contrast between the night sky color and her hair.. She sighed, smoothing the skirt back down as she caught sight of the heels. Tia hated wearing heels but she knew there was little in the way of escaping this.

This is going to remind me all evening about being up in the clouds… Should I even expect the man I am to marry to allow this? Will he chain me down… Tia had to close her eyes and remind herself to take slow deep breaths and push these thoughts out. These are extremes… Tonight I met the man I am to marry… Tia figured even if she was not confirmed who it was that would take her as their bride she would be meeting the men and that was enough knowledge to calm her, somewhat.

Finally Mary seemed content that no part of her would fall out of her clothing and no piece of hair was going to stray away. ”Thank you Mary.” She spoke softly towards the maid.

Mary in return nodded and gave her a bow. She straightened herself up and smiled. ”Do not linger too long my lady, you do not wish to be late.”

”I know I should not… Does not mean I have not thought of it.”

Mary had slipped away from her grabbing a shawl. Tia was now lingering on the makeup that was on her face. She was a little lighter in the face due to the powder that Mary had used on her. The black liner around her eyes flared out making her eyes look like they had wings flaring from them. Her lips were a crimson red matching the rubies that sparkled in her hair. For the briefest of moments she wondered, Who am I looking at… Finally the shawl was wrapped around her shoulders covering the previously revealing part of her upper half. While Tia stood still the dress covered her legs unless pushing her right leg forward.

      ”You look lovely my lady.”

”You do good work with a broken canvas.” Tia grinned sadly at this.

Mary gave her a sharp look but did not argue with her mistress. She silently moved towards the door, opening it and seeing someone standing to escort her to the ballroom. No faith in me father… She snickered at the thought mumbling to herself as she headed out of the room following the path. Tia wrapped the shawl around herself, hugging it along her shoulders. The fabric matched her dress With small beaded pieces along the edges of the shawl. She could easily tie it under her arms and turn the fabric into a jacket-like piece with the dress. Tia however, enjoyed sitting on her shoulders like some kind of protective feeling.

XXXXXX A man stood towering over the young man. He swallowed hard as his mother tried to pull Rowen behind her. Rowen clung to his mothers leg as she tried to grasp on him hard. Something was wrong, Rowen could feel it in the air. His chest was tightening as he felt his mother's heart rate quicken. "Please..." She felt the tears rolling down her cheeks. Her son was the only thing this world had given to her that was good. The man before her stood eyeing her beloved son like a prized piece of meat. When he had not shown up the year prior she figured he had forgotten about her. Forgotten about the son he sired. But here he stood with armed guards, ready to take her son away. "You knew this day would come... I was occupied but have not forgotten him. He is to train and he is to fight." The man had gritted teeth as if this was some kind of kindness he was showing the pair. "You do not want him... You don't love him..." Before she could beg him she felt the sting across her face as her son quickly darted from behind her swinging at the man who had laid a hand on his mother. Unfortunate for Rowen, he was not only young, but small for his own age. He felt the guards grab him before he could even reach the man. He thrashed in the guards arms. His mother lunged at them, trying to grab for Rowen. The third man now stood grabbing his mothers wrist. "He is my son. He belongs to me. I do not need him being found by another kingdom to use over me. If they got their hands on you..." The man sneered at her as he tossed her back. Rowan cried out punching the man who held him tightly right in the eye. "Do not touch my mother!" He screamed out finally as a wave of power washed over the room.

XXXXXX His mother froze on the ground looking up at him as the guards seemed to collapse. "Rowen... Calm..." She breathed gently. The man looked to her then Rowen as if to think over what he needed to do. "Please my love... Come to momma.." The man grinned. "You will indeed make a wonderful knight one day..." He smirked looking as Rowen ran to his mother only for the man to snatch him up next. "Time for you to get to know your father." Rowen stopped struggling as he looked between his mother and the man. His mother flinched and nodded in agreement. "Do not harm my mother... I will tell everyone your secret..." The words bit out of him as if the small 10 year old Fae boy was far more versed in deal making than he truly was.

XXXXXX Rowen woke with a start. He could hear the sounds of the metal hitting metal. His eyes slowly opened looking up at the tent he slept in. Rowen was the best knight to the Night court. He fought for them as if his life depended on it. Though long ago he had earned his mothers freedom by training and finishing he still was stuck in a deal. His mother had a lovely little cottage within the realm but would be kept comfortable so long as he kept his deal and told no one who he truly was. He was required to continue to fight so she would have a steady income. His mother had moved on and found herself a lovely man. However Rowen was stuck having to deal with the man who had sired him. Slowly he sat up and sighed while slinging his legs over the side of his cot. Rowen looked around his tent, there was not much in his own tent. A few personal affects and necessities. He had earned his rank here thought he had always been granted the 'pillage' of a private tent. Those in the camps had always assumed he was kept separate for being the son of a lower Fae. The rumors where plenty some where about his slaughtering abilities. His kill count was unmatched by any within his own court. His mother from the Day court. He thought how it was ironic he belonged to both day and night and yet fit in no where.

XXXXXX His feet reached the floor slipping into his boots as he bent down to lace them up. He was in a habit of sleeping in his pants but often forwent his shirt. He reached up stretching as he rolled his neck and felt all his muscles loosen for a moment. If I have to show another fighter how to work his feet again it will be too damn soon. Finally he finished lacing his right boot and adjusted them both before he stood up. Rowen then moved to the chair where he had flung his shirt over the back. He began buttoning the shirt up moving about the tent to collect his items. Just another camp, another set of men to monitor and teach how to fight. More recon. The blasted death of Prince Aton, his fathers favorite son. The son he had hoped would inherit the kingdom. Had Rowen not been away at the time of the death he feared that he would have taken the blame. This turned into retaliation amongst one realm over the next. Everyone lashing out at one another, war was waged and no one would build treaties with one another. Not long after Aton had died his father lashed out killing a cousin in line to the Spring court. This started a chain of killing amongst them. Rowen had recalled as the Spring court lashed out thinking the Summer court had done it. The domino effect was rapid. Rowen was sickened by some of the courts killing women and children as retaliation when they suspected another court. Finally he stood in front of a mirror looking himself over. His shirt was tucked in, the dark grey pants fit tightly but loose enough to move freely to fight. He had a sword strapped to his back and a mid size dagger at his hip. When he felt the approval of his reflection Rowen slipped out of the tent in a single motion. He felt the sun splash onto his face before his eyes adjusted. Some men and women stopped to eye Rowen before he caught their stare and gave them a look that stated they best return to their training or task. He then pulled his hair back over his head and headed into the center of the small camp.
