tab Oliver isn't necessarily shy, he's not afraid of interacting with people (maybe just a little). He prefers low key situations and finds his energy drains quicker when in an environment that demands high energy. He's better interacting with a small group of individuals than a large group. Overstimulating situations can be overwhelming for him.

▪ Trustworthy
tab Maybe not in the truest sense of the word. No, if you tell him something in confidence he won't go spreading it but it's not because he'll take secrets to the grave. The only secrets he'll take to the grave are his own. He can be trusted not to tell because most of the time, he just doesn't care. Someone could tell him they murdered someone else and he wouldn't go run off and tell the police. He recognizes everyone in the world has their own problems, makes their own choices, and is fairly indifferent to what transpires in the lives of others. Who is he to judge, jury, and executioner?

▪ Creative
tab Leave him to his own devices and he can come up with something truly amazing. He has a knack for thinking of new solutions outside the box and the motivation to follow through on his ideas and there is rarely a shortage of ideas that spill from his mind. An unfortunate downfall to this is that he also has the tendency to over think and over complicate things. Sometimes all his ideas end up colliding with one another and just create a frustrating situation.

▪ Realist
tab He sees the world in a very straight forward way. Bad things happen, people die, life goes on. Life comes and goes and there's not much to be done about it. He finds it much more practical to face life head on, taking what comes his way and dealing with it, rather than losing himself in idealist fantasies.

▪ Blunt
tab He won't lie to make someone feel better. A lot of times he will keep his opinions to himself but when he does choose to open his mouth it will be the truth. Part of this is because he can't seem to empathize with people well and some things just roll off his tongue before he thinks about it much.

▪ Organized
tab Everything has a place and it should be there. Things shouldn't be scattered about willy nilly. That's not to say that he's hyper organized to the point of obsessive compulsion but he is clean.


✘Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ

tab Oliver was the only child in a single parent home in Oregon. His father worked hard to make ends meet and shelter him from their financial troubles but even as a young boy he knew what was going on. He worked multiple jobs so he wasn't around much but that never bothered Oliver much. He always had a vested interest in tinkering with things and creating little inventions, mixing things up to see how they would react; that occupied a lot of his time. When he was eight his father was driving to work when he got hit by a pick up truck that ran a red light. Allegedly it was a pretty bad wreck but no one let Oliver see it. His father slipped into a coma and for awhile, the neighbors helped take care of him. A few weeks later he died in the hospital and the state stepped in and took Oliver into the system. Without any luck of being able to contact a close relative (especially since no one could name who his mother was) he was sent to live in a foster home.

tab Oliver was moved around quite a lot. He didn't get along very well with the other kids in the sense that he would hardly talk to them, and when he did it was the non-sugarcoated version. Then he'd cause trouble without meaning to by sneaking chemicals home from the school science lab and conducting his own experiments back at the home. It wasn't like he was doing it to be rebellious, the loss of his father and never having known his mother didn't seem to effect him, he was just curious pertaining to what happened when certain things were mixed or if he could build certain things. Then of course some of the foster parents weren't too happy when they found him dissecting small critters and that usually got him packed up and moving onto the next home pretty quickly. It wasn't until he turned thirteen that a family finally adopted him but by this time he had been on his own and picked on long enough that other people just didn't seem to matter as much.

tab The family that adopted him was different though. They had a daughter that was a few years older than him who was also interested in science. The mother was a neurosurgeon and the father worked biotechnology. It was sort of the family he had always wanted. They were fairly wealthy and had their own home lab where everyone had their own work space but there was also a space where they could work on things together. He was free to explore his mind and most of his time was spent in the home lab. They sent their daughter, Claire, to an elite all female boarding school and when the time came for him to go to high school, they sent him to an elite all boys boarding school called Ashton. He quite enjoyed his classes, especially the ones where the teachers didn't make them work in groups. It was the first school he attended that he was surrounded by people he considered intelligent. For the most part he kept to his quiet self but there was a handful of people he made friends with. He has learned to be a bit more sociable at the Academy but still loves having his own space and time.

tab He's different than the others and that's what I like about him. He doesn't seem afraid at all to be himself and I think that's very respectable. I don't think he understands the concept of personal space at all, it's a bit uncomfortable for me...Actually I really like my personal space so it's fairly uncomfortable for me. But he likes Star Wars too and one of the first people I've actually been able to talk to about it so that's cool.

tab He's nice but definitely not an introvert like myself. That's fine with me though. He tries to get me to be more social and I'll humor him every so often and do social things. He likes to talk a lot and I've learned we have somewhat similar backgrounds, so we sort of connected because of that.

tab He's quiet too, and I really like that about him. Even though he's not terribly interested in science and we don't have all that much in common, he's easy to get along with and I find it easier to talk with him if either of us do feel like talking. I don't mind helping him with classes either and have tutored him in some subjects.

tab Sean is the guy I room with. He's...strange to say the least. I don't mind so much when he puts music on through speakers since he has a good taste in music but his antics got old real quick. It seemed I couldn't take a short break from working on things without him drawing dicks and other profanities on my work. Is it really necessary to do something like that? He seems to get worse when he's around his friends and that's when I really try to avoid him. Whether I like him or not depends on if he's with his friends, and if he's in one of his moods.

tab Yeah, I guess I would call us friends. He's smart like I am and we can talk about scientific stuff. He's more into astronomy but we can usually find something to talk about. Not to mention he's a pretty nice guy too. I'd rather hang out with him than my room mate.
